Gamecocks' Marathon Win, LSU Sweep

0:00On March 23rd, number 21, South Carolina Softball took on number 22 LSU in a weekend series at Beckham Field, finishing with A, 1-2 record. The game Cox grabbed their first southeastern conference and ranked win of the season in Friday's opener, a thrilling 12-inning marathon that became the longest game in Carolina Softball Stadium history. That opener saw South Carolina jump ahead early with home runs from Tate Davis and Jamie McKay, but LSU fought back to tie at multiple times. After a long score the stretch in a brief delay, Lexi Wincher delivered a walkoff RBI double in the bottom of the 12th to seal the victory. The momentum shifted Saturday as LSU dominated with a 5-1 win. Their pitcher C.C. Salura, through a complete game, shutting down South Carolina's bats after the game Cox managed just one run on a Shay Anderson home.
