Gamecocks Host Top-Ranked Texas in SEC Opener

0:00On March 5th, the number 24 ranked South Carolina GameCock's softball team finished non-conference play with a solid 15 wins and 6 losses. They racked up plenty of run-roll victories and strong hitting all season. After going 20 and no last year, they chose a tougher schedule this time, with ranked teams to get ready for the southeastern conference grind. They kicked off at home with the GameCock Invitational, grabbing wins over Syracuse, Binghamton, and Winthrop while splitting with Virginia Tech. Momentum carried into the Carolina Classic with run-rules against Louisville and a solid win over Boston University. Out west at the Mary-Nutter Collegiate Classic, they went 3 and 2 against top programs, including close losses to Oregon and UCLA. Standout sophomore infielder, Tate Davis, led with multiple multi-hit games, and senior first baseman, Ariana Rodi, brought extra-based power and home, runs.
