Rui Gomes is the lead software engineer at OpenNode, a bitcoin payment processor with lightning integration. Flexible and easy-to-use payment processors are essential for growing the bitcoin economy, and bringing traditional businesses into the space. Combined with lightning, they represent the possibility for payment solutions that are orders of magnitude better than what is available from the incumbent players.
As a result, I thought it would be interesting to speak with Rui to pick his brain, learn more about developments in the space, and ask him about the difference between what he and the team at OpenNode are building, in comparison to something like BTCPay Server (Spoiler: They are different).
