Fraudster Jailed for Disability Benefits Scam

0:00On March 26, a woman from going by sea in West Sussex has been sentenced for defrauding disability benefits. She claimed personal independence payments for severe health problems that supposedly left her unable to cook or wash herself. Over three years from 2021 to 2024, she received 23,662 pounds from taxpayers. Investigators uncovered bank records showing trips to Cancun in Mexico for surfing and zip lining, plus visits to Thor Park. She also racked up 76 beauty treatments like manicures and tanning along with 60 outings to pubs, clubs and restaurants and spending in, foreign currencies. When confronted with the evidence, she acted surprised about restrictions on leaving home. Right after her Mexico getaway, she even reported her condition worsening to keep the payments coming. She pleaded guilty to not reporting changes in her circumstances. The court ordered full repayment and gave her a 28-week jail term suspended for 18 months.
