The San Francisco 49ers signed better and wide receiver Mike Evans to a three-year contract

worth up to $60.4 million, including $16 million guaranteed.

They needed a reliable target for quarterback Brock Perty after major losses on offense

last season.

Earlier this week, the team traded Debo Samuel in the off season, lost Brandon Ayuk for

the year, and saw tied in George Kiddell, sideline by N, a killi's injury, that forced

running back Christian McCaffrey into the top receiver role with 9-24 yards, while

Jawan Jennings managed 643.

Analysts say the move fits perfectly for both sides.

ESPN's Seth Walder noted the 49ers desperately needed a proven wide-out, and Evans brings

upside despite a slight dip from his hamstring and collarbone issues last year.

Evans should ease the load on McCaffrey, who racked up 102 catches and 311 rushes, a heavy

workload.

Meanwhile, rookie Ricky Piercell showed flashes with over 500 yards in just 9 games.

The 49ers still won 12 games and scored 25.7 points per game last season.
