The San Francisco 49ers are strengthening their defensive coaching staff by hiring Matt Eberfluss as assistant head coach of defense. He steps into the role left open when Gus Bradley departed to join ex-defensive coordinator Robert Salah with the Tennessee Titans. Eberfluss at age 55 recently worked as defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025. Before that, he led the Chicago Bears as head coach from 2022 through 2024. Meanwhile, the 49ers tapped Rahim Morris to take over as defensive coordinator, filling the gap left by Salah.
