The San Francisco 49ers are expected to target a pass rusher in the first round of the NFL draft, picking a never-27 overall. General manager John Lynch made it clear at the NFL Combine that improving their ability to sack quarterbacks is a top priority, even after a decent, pressurate last season. Lynch noted the team prides itself on a strong defensive front, but wants more takedowns. With seven edge rushes projected in the top 42 picks on consensus boards, the 49ers might reach a bit if they like someone there. One prospect they met with is a keen messidor from the University of Miami, ranked number 23 overall. The 6-flit 3-259-pound defender calls himself relentless with a strong pass rush toolbox and solid run defense. That said, messidor turns 25 in April after six college seasons and never topped 7-sex until his breakout final year.
