Formula One Cancels Bahrain, Saudi Races Due to War

These events were scheduled for April. An organizers say the decision was unavoidable given the tense situation in the Middle East. Support series like Formula 2, Formula 3, and F1 Academy rounds there have also been scrapped. The FIA looked at other options but turned them down for safety reasons. Formula 1 boss DeFano Domenicali called it a tough but necessary choice amid rising strikes in the region. He thanked the FIA and local promoters for their understanding and passion. Bahrain has spaced heavy attacks from Iran since the conflict started last month. It's also home to the United States Navy's fifth fleet headquarters adding to the risks.
