On March 18th, former Tory MP Crispin Blunt faces four drug possession charges. The 65-year-old is accused of having one-class A drug and three-class B drugs. Prosecutors announced the charges after police searched his home. Officers visited his place in Horeley on October 25, 2023. That stop was part of a different investigation, but it led to these new accusations. Blunt represented Regate in Surrey for years and served as a Justice Minister from 2010 to 2012. He left Parliament last year. Crown prosecutors reviewed the evidence and decided a trial served the public interest. They worked closely with Surrey Police on the case. Blunt's first court appearance is set for March 25th at Westminster Magistrates Court. Officials stress that the proceedings are active so everyone should avoid comments that could affect a fair trial.
