Former Community Center Becomes Special Needs School

The site on comment way, near the hermitage industrial estate, one planning approval from Northwest Leicestershire District Council. It will serve 98 pupils once the Aurora Group takes over. The building has sat empty since December 2024. The group applied last year and officials gave the green light on March 16th. This change comes as demand grows for more specialized spots in the area. Leicester City Council strongly back the plan, calling it invaluable. They say kids and young people are waiting for placements due to shortages. Local leaders note it will help me tough needs that current school struggle with. The setup includes 56 full-time teaching staff and 25 non-teaching roles. Planners also okay tearing down a steel frame, shed, and greenhouse to build a multi-use games area.
