2:01I forget if it was on Discovery or something. Al is nodding. You've ever seen locked up abroad? I have not. All right. So basically what's the story of Americans who find themselves in foreign prisons because of silly drug offenses? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know midnight run. I'm sorry. Oh, you don't know the movie, okay? No. Is that what happens? Yeah. Americans are in line guy. I think it's midnight run. I'm pretty sure that's the name of it. Yeah. And he ends up in a foreign prison because... Midnight Express is what it is. Midnight Express, okay? All right. Yeah, he ends up in a Turkish prison. In a Turkish prison. And it is a true story about a long island guy. A Turkish prison, I feel like there were jokes in the movie airplane about a Turkish prison. And I always thought that that was like a man-on-man thing. That was like that was the joke. Right. I love her stoned in that movie. Okay. Is that am I right about that? The Turkish prison. Turkish prison. Prison. Turkish. I'm trying. I'm trying.

3:01I'm trying. I'm trying. Turkish prison. Jokes. Yeah. Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison? See? That's unbelievable that I remember that. So like as a kid watching, not a kid, but a man, I don't know, 12 or whenever watching that movie. Yes. That's the first time I ever heard Turkish prison. And then I was like, what is that all about? And then I came to learn that it's a place you don't want to go if you're looking to keep your button tacked. Yeah. Well, I'll tell you this. This is a very dark movie, very frustrating movie. All right. Well, I'm going to give you this. I'm going to move away from the Turkish part of this. Okay. The Turkish prison. But this is actually it's a serious story. It's a sad story. And there's a guy, Jared, Jared Shaw, who is locked up in an Indonesian prison. Jared Shaw played college basketball at Oklahoma State in Utah State. And he started playing overseas, which a lot of these guys do

4:03who don't make it to the NBA. So he had played in Tunisia, Lebanon, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, and Japan. So he was on. He was a key member. He's 35 now of the Prawera Bang Dong team who won the Indonesian basketball league in 2023. He's playing an Indonesian. He's having success. He's a champ. So he's got Crohn's disease. Okay. And he says that one of the things that helps him with his Crohn's disease are weed gummies. Hmm. So, you know, and people... Is this a Brittany Griner situation? It's worse. I think. Yeah, okay. I think this is worse now. So he's got the weed gummies. And he orders... Well, what he did was he ordered a package of 132 cannabis gummies to be delivered to his apartment in Indonesia. Where were these gummies coming from?

5:05Well, somewhere where the government knew about it because they tracked it and he got arrested in May of 2025. And he has been in this prison ever since. And he actually was facing the death penalty. Now, they finally dropped that. Like the US got involved in a way where they were able to drop the death penalty somehow. But he's still in the prison. And it's all because of the 132 gummies because Indonesia has some of the harshest drug laws in the world. And I'm reading from the Guardian right now. So it says, Indonesia has some of the harshest drug laws in the world. Cannabis is categorized alongside heroin and methamphetamine and Indonesia. Despite its legislation for medical and recreational use across swaths of North America and Europe. So he could have been given the death penalty for $400 worth of drugs. And the country carried out executions by firing squad

6:09for drug offenses as recently as 2016. Well, this is probably why they tell you when you go and play in one of these countries, you better understand the laws when you're there. And do not break them. Yep, there is that. I mean, I don't know where is that. I mean, I would think that, I'm glad the US government did get involved. But you know, I guess you could pressure them to release him in some way. Yeah, I get him out of there. I mean, he's, yeah, I guess they got him moved to a better prison because he was in a better prison. Is there such thing as a better prison? Well, I don't know. So I'm not an expert on that. We do have experts running around here. You can ask them. But he was in a cell with 12 other guys. And now he's in a cell with six guys. So they were able to get him into a little bit of a better cell. But he's still sitting in there. He was on the phone. He's trying to get his word out there and everything else.

7:09Of course, I'm sure I would imagine that there's a consulate over there trying to help get him out of there. I always think about like the gummy thing, like, you know, you're dog talk about all the time. I took a couple of gummies and I watched the lakeers, you know. And then just like a joke, this guy gets these gummies and he might get shot to death by a firing squad. It's amazing. What goes on in other countries? Yes, I would think that Singapore known for very, very strong anti-drug laws. Singapore? I believe. Yeah. But again, when you travel, you know, to foreign countries, you got to be aware of what the hell you get yourself into. He was living there. Well, the other thing should be somebody on that basketball program or team should have told them. Yeah. Like what are you doing? I mean, he had to know. It's just a bad. Unless somebody else had been doing it and said, hey, I've been doing this. You can do it this way. Yeah. Order them to your house. Or something. This way is safe. And here comes the Indonesian police ripping them out

8:11of his apartment complex and throwing them in jail. No job is no joke, man. Yeah. No, I know. Magic dog got thrown in any Indonesian prison because he had his gummies. They would release him immediately. There is no way that they would keep him in that prison. No way. He might want to go to a Turkish prison. No, look at him. Where's Cox? It's not a Turkish bath. It's a Turkish prison. Prison. God. What was the line again? Was it Johnny? It was a little Johnny who was up in the cockpit? Hey, Johnny. I've never been to it. I've never been to it. Turkish prison. I mean, that movie, because I guess I used to watch a ton of comedy central. Okay. But that movie airplane really taught me about comedic things that I didn't know about early on. And I'm so happy that I found that movie when I did because it was just hilarious. I didn't quite understand all of it. But then as I got older, I understood all of it.

9:12But what a phenomenal stupid, but just phenomenal comedy movie. That's why for me, Tropic Thunder. Well, yeah. It's every scene. It's a laugh out loud scene. Unbelievable movie. Absolutely.
