02We'll be out of here at 5.30, giving away to the Mavs pregame show. The Mavs game against Orlando starts tonight at 6 o'clock. That game will air right here on the eagle. But coming up here in 10 minutes, who here listening? If you're listening to this, who wants to get paid to be an actor? Me, locally. Well, we're gonna tell you how that can happen, but you gotta stay tuned. That'll happen in about 10 minutes. But right now it's time for this. All right, I'm gonna start with the local story first. There's a legendary pizza place in Denton that's no more the crooked crust. Christine, that will affect you. Yeah, I had a lot of drunken nights there. It could crooked crust because it was right there on Fry Street. And I mean, after you've been drinking, there's nothing better than a delicious pizza. Fantastic. So yeah, I love you. It's all good. It's all good. It's all good. It's all good. It's all good. It's all good. It's all good. It's all good. It's all good. Thanks. Please crooked crust. They said they were still always busy on Friday and Saturday nights. And right there on Fry Street, you're on campus. Yeah.
02So that's a pretty good spot. But they said they only had 14 employees. Okay. But they said rising cost of food and operating cost and things like that has just made it where they can't continue on. Damn. That's what... Think about that. That does suck. But if you can't make it as a pizza, as a pizza joint on a college campus, That tells you how bad it is because pizza is not really typically an expensive food to make. You have college students who don't have a ton of money, but have a massive need to intake pizza. If you can't make those things work, that's just a sign of how tough it is. There's stuff at a liberal arts college where a lot of the students are smoking weed too. They'll live in there as well. Yeah. And dude, so they just have massive rent. I don't know. Like that kids are kids healthier now, not eating as much pizza. I don't think they were charging very much for the pizza and they didn't want to raise the prices. And I think that's going to be the most expensive rent is going to be right there by campus.
03Yeah. And now why are flying tomato moved off like well it caught on fire. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right. Well, caught it fire, but then they had it as a food truck for a while. I'll never tell. Oh, Kevin Chick-fil-A. Usually they stick to their guns for years, customers have said just open up on Sunday. Like we would like it to be open on Sundays too. I know. We have our standards. We have our core values and that's what we're going to stick with. Well, in 2024, they changed the recipe on their French fries. They're waffle fries, I guess. And now after complaints after two years, they're going back to the old recipe, they've given in to the people, which is a reminder that everyone has a voice in this world. They said while the new recipe does not contain any of the nine major allergens, the new
06waffle potato fries, coding does contain peace starch. Well, I don't like that. We don't need that. Gotta be honest, I never noticed a difference. I don't think I did, but I'm not a big fan of their waffle fries. Oh my God, the disrespect to the Lord, to Chick-fil-A to everyone. God loves those waffle fries because they're not happening on Sundays. Yeah, Christina, what disrespect? Christina, if you had in front of you all the fast food French fries, which one would you go with? Arby's curly fries. Wow, no brainers. Easy. Yes. Pretty good. Yeah. They did. Two weekends ago. So another restaurant has gone through this fry controversy over the last 12 to 18 months and that's Wingstop. Oh, yeah. Wingstop changed the recipe on their fries and they have not gone back and they absolutely should, but they have not gone back. Although Wingstop is the type of thing, as a pluckers guy talking, Wingstop is the type
12of thing that might sometimes sound good. That's, that's a, that's good talking yourself down a terrible path. I want to take that right away, Katie, so there is a member of my family that I have, I will never listen to them about anything ever again, ever again. And here's why there is a conversation about lemon pepper wings. And this person said, oh my God, you got to try the lemon pepper wings from this particular fast food establishment. And it was like really, they're the best lemon pepper wings you've ever had. What? And I was like, from this fast food establishment, so me and the wife stopped by there and got them. They might be the least edible thing I've put in my mouth in the last year. What fast food restaurant has wings? Well, you can figure out, I'm not going to say their name. You might be able to figure it out, just doing the work. But let me say that the person who said that now has no credibility with me and clearly
17has the stomach of a young person, because I mean, it was one of those things for me and my wife were both starving and we're like, we're not eating more than half of this. It's that bad. Wow. I can't believe you'd say this about Connor. I know the place you're talking about, I've not had their wings. You want to say it off here? No. Fine. I don't care. They're like, they're not even peppermint, peppermint, peppermint, peppermint, peppermint, peppermint, peppermint, peppermint, peppermint. What? They have wings, oh. It's using the wrong name. That's enough. Yeah, that's going to do it. There you go. When did the segment end? There's the food news coming up next. It's the weekly weekday update. If you're listening to this and you're like, you know what, I'd like to get paid to be an actor here locally. We have details for how that could happen for you coming up next right here on the Eagle, but Tyler Reddick here from 2311 Racing. Another checkered flag for the books. Time to celebrate with Jumba. Jump in at chumbacacino.com. Let's chumb up. No purchase necessary, VTW Group, voidware prohibited by law, CTNC, 21 Plus, sponsored by chumbacacino.
