This main route linking remote areas to Dubbo and Sydney is closed in both directions due to rising water. State emergency services are telling all drivers and truckers to use alternate paths right away. Rescue teams pull three people from their vehicle on Thursday afternoon outside Volcania. That car is now fully under water and can't be recovered. This morning, crews saved another driver from the same spot, about 20 kilometers from town, before their vehicle also submerged. The closure hits hard as a key national freight corridor. Local council workers are using machinery to redirect the flood water after record rainfall. Officials expect the road to stay shut for more than a week, with water levels at 800 kilometers, and still climbing. Communities nearby are cut off, so emergency crews are delivering urgent health supplies
