Flooding Fears as Developers Plan 550 Homes

0:00On March 12th, here's the latest out of Leicester. Developers with IAM land once a build up to 550 homes on farm land along Frolsworth Road in Broughton, Asley, a village that floods. Often, Harbro District Council has asked them to submit an environmental statement for an impact assessment before any formal application. The 43-hectare site would also set aside space for a spanning orchard church of England school, parking for the nearby cemetery, and A. Community facility. Most of the old farm buildings there would come down to make room. Meanwhile, 34 people objected when developers first checked if the assessment was needed, flooding an extra traffic top their list of worries. Residents say the local sewage system is old and overwhelmed, with overflow sending raw sewage across fields during heavy rain. Drain stay clogged, and flooding hits the area every year. Plans keep moving ahead, with that early 19th century barn on site slated for reuse, maybe in the new community center.
