First Snow of Winter

Tea With George

About this episode

"First Snow of Winter" by Steve Adams
I am sitting at the window, coffee in hand, staring out at a white and grey wonderland.  We have the first snow of the season today.  The oak tree has a snowy topping, like icing on a cake, and the ground has transformed from green to a fluffy, uniform white.
The neighborhood kids are out of school today.  They have sleds out and some are building snowmen.  Others are engaging in snowball fights and playing hide and seek.  Some people have their Christmas lights on, which gives the white snow color and character.
As adults, we tend to see the stress of snow, the driving conditions, shoveling or plowing, making sure we have adequate supplies of bread and milk on hand…  Because of responsibility, we view a snow event as added work and annoyance.  For those fortunate enough to be able to perk a warm cup of coffee and take a few minutes to sit and watch, there is a wonderment to the transformative beauty of the season’s first snow…
