Firefly is BACK: Animated Series Announced!

The good news is there actually is a Firefly animated series in development. The bad news is that it's not a sure thing. They don't know where it's going to go. It's just something they want to make. So they announced it at AwesomeCon. Nathan Philly and the company and there was a lot of lead up to this. And people are like, yeah, how are they going to do another Firefly when everybody's so old? Some of the cast are no longer with us. And also some of the characters are no longer with us.

1:02And the answer is a cartoon. We're just going to do a cartoon. So it's come from Deadline. Nathan Philly and says Firefly animated series is in development with co-star set to reprise roles. Concept art revealed. So he revealed at AwesomeCon then animated Firefly series is in advanced development based on the beloved cult sci-fi franchise and Deadline has the details. And of course, you know, we've got a lot of the cast coming back. Alan Tudyk, which again, RIP. His character. Oh, it has spoiled that for you. Gina Torres, Jewel State, Marina Bakrin, who's going to be evil lin, I guess, in the He-Man movie. Yeah, a whole bunch of people coming back. The animated reboot is being developed through Filions Production, Banner, Collision 33, and partnership with 20th Television Animation, which controls the underlying rights of the franchise. Okay. So it's very weird. It's not a sure thing because you think it would be coming to Hulu or Disney+, and no. They're looking for a streaming home according to a video on Instagram,

So married, rating-producing team Mark Guggenheim, who did the Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow, and Tara Butters, who did Agent Carter and Reaper, are attached to service showrunners, and the script has been completed. Joss Whedon, who created the originals not involved in the animated project. And he guessed as to why Joss Whedon is not involved. You know why? He did give his blessing, though. He's given the rights up, I guess. So this is what he said. He said, the dedication of Firefly fans has kept this 25-year-old show relevant. Clearly, the return of Firefly is something that fans want. More importantly, it's something they deserve. Filion tells Deadline. The announcement culminates a week-long viral social media campaign teasing the news was on the rising, causing speculation about what Filion, who played Malcolm Reynolds in the TV show, and Film was up to.
