I know I said this once before, but it pertains because every night before I go to bed,
I can't help but keep scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, keeps scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. Twitter has got the goods lately, and if you block out all the political BS and you just do, you just follow the sports stuff. There was some good stuff. And somebody put out a highlight reel, Jim or Fridette the other day. I would watch like a five-minute highlight reel, Jim or Fridette. I was locked in. Welcome back, Bed MGM tonight. Westwood One Sports. He's Brad Evans, Sampath Boyle. Phone number to join the show is 310-840-4910. That's 310-840-4910. Before we get to fill in the blank, Brad, upset, special, maybe coming down the Pike in Charlotte, ACC tournament number one team. Is it fair to say that Duke is on the ropes just yet? Or is there still a lot of time left to play? All right. I've watched a lot of Duke games this year. I've watched a lot of games period this year. I have no life. 1557 to go in the second half. I could tell you this from seeing Duke on a
multitude of occasions. They usually issue that kill shot within the 10-minute and 15-minute range of the second half. We're about to enter that. That is going to be a critical spot for Florida State. There are up to 54-49 are the semifinals right now at the current moment in time, but if they can survive that window of time, get this sucker under 10 minutes either tied or in the lead. Man, yeah, an upset could truly be brewing. Look, I truly believed in you and I were talking about this before the show. We talk about a couple times during the show. Duke has nothing to play for. What's the motivation here? Really, the motivation is go ahead and get through it and get off the court healthy. That's it. That's probably what John Chyr is preaching because they're locked in as a one seed. Now, it's possible they surrender the number one and number one's, but ultimately, they could still be the number one and one's. Even if they lose this game tonight, they have no Caleb Foster, they have no Pat and Gangba, two key players in on offense for them and defensively
as well. The best defense in the country of the last 30 days is getting cooked right now because Florida State, they're eight is 17 from way downtown. That's 47.1%. They're 10 of 37 or excuse me, 19 of 37 in the entire game of 51.4% and they're getting it done at the charity stripe as well. Duke is bludgeoning the knolls on the glass with the great equalizers are falling. Again, Florida State of 54, 49, 15, 57 ago. If they survive that kill shot window between 10 and 15 minutes and they emerge on the other side either in the lead or tied, either they got a better than a 50% chance of winning this sucker. So don't be shocked, America. Yeah, I'm popping back and forth between that. And then of course, we were talking about it before Houston and BYU and the big 12 tournament. We got a good one going in Kansas City. AJ DeBonce's got 18 points for the Cougars. They just took the lead back against Houston 48, 47 under 15 to go. This has been a,
it's been a tight one from the get go here. Kingston Fleming's the star freshman from Houston. He's got I believe 15 points. I saw him drill a three just a couple of moments ago and then he just dished off a nice assist for a slam dunk. So back and forth, we go between Houston and BYU and then one of the other top teams in the country in action right now are the Yukon Huskies and they were up by 20 at the half, but it's been slow bucks for them here to start the second half. They lead, they lead Xavier 55, 40. They've only scored five points in the first six minutes of the second half. So we'll see if Yukon maybe gets a bit of a scare here. We thought they were looking good in the first half, but Xavier has worked their way back into this one at least for the time being. All right, let's do a little fill in the blank. Let's get producer Brandon Combs here in the mix to delegate because he does it so well. Combs, what's going on? What's going on boys? Just, you know, trying to get manifests and stuff. That's all.
All right, fill in the blank. You guys know how this game works. I'm going to give you a statement. It's going to be a blank spot somewhere in that statement. You guys are going to fill it in, you know, fill in the blank. All right. Yes, yes. Let's start with the first one here. My amy of Ohio will be a blank seed in the big dance. Brad? I already said this around the show, I'm going to stick to my guns here. They're going to be a number 11 seed. They're number 35 and wow. I went above bubble. Again, that is a key metric. According to the selection committee members and including Dan Gammett, who is a VP of the college basketball for the NCAA. So he should buy what he is selling. Yes, the overall advanced metrics profile is ghastly, despite the lopsided record of just that one loss. But the 340 and strength is scheduled. They have a combined 26 wins against quarter three and quarter and four competition. Those are the biggest
patsys of the college basketball world. They are two and oh and quad two. So I don't have a single quad one game on the resume. I think the old boy Dayton, there'll be a safe 11 seed comes election Sunday. And if that pans out, man, I can't wait to see what 60 they're matched up with in round one. Yeah, this is more hopeful than anything. I hope my amy of Ohio is a 10 seed. I hope that they don't get shafted, which I think is what would be the case if they have to play in Dayton in the first four. So I hope they get a 10 seed. I hope they get a 10 seven matchup where it's like, okay, let's see how good this team really is. That's that's all I want to see. And I feel like they're 31 and oh, man, they were 31 and oh, they just lost their first game of the year. Yeah, it was against UMass. Yeah, the Mac hasn't been that strong this year. Yeah, they didn't play anybody in the non-conference. And we saw a lot of reports that they tried to play people. They tried to play some top teams in their area and they got turned down. So I hope that they just get a chance to get a couple of get a week off here. And then they the play Thursday or Friday and a 10 seven
matchup at like one 30 p.m. Eastern because I will be freaking locked into it. I hope my amy oval high was a 10 seed. Yeah, I just man, 31 and one. And I get it. I understand the resume. I do. I just I just can't imagine a 31 and 111 seed. It just I don't know. I thought eight or nine was where where my amy oval high should be sitting. But I guess I mean 10 or 11. Beesh. All right, let's go to the next one. Kentucky ceiling in the tournament is blank, Pat. Sweet 16 sweet 16 and Brad, just refresh my memory. You got the wild cats on your bracket. Big board is what an eight seed or a nine seed? No, sir. You got to go a little bit higher that. Have them right now as a seven seed. Okay. So yeah, basically then if there are seven seed, can they
knock off a two seed? Probably unlikely. I think this team has been on they've underachieved for most of the year. Really went through a rough patch in mid December to mid January. They've kind of straightened out since I don't see them being a two seed. So honestly, then I guess my ceiling is the one they go one and done. They win one game and then they get knocked out in the second round by a two seed. That's what I think the ceiling is for the Kentucky wild cats. Yeah, I agree. Right now the matchup I have projected on the bracket. Big boarding, check it out for free now through selection Sunday at the gamingjuice.com. I have Kentucky playing NC State. That's a wonderful matchup for Kentucky because NC State has no size. The wall cats have to get out and really defend the perimeter, which are given up 35% from distance in their last nine games. So there's an area in defense of weakness and that's what NC State lives and dies by the three. But Florida sick and bully them in the paint. I think it's a wonderful match for them. I think they win one game and that's all she wrote. Whatever
the two seed is, and I pray they're not in Yukon's region because they're really what Yukon to get knocked off in the round of 32. If they do draw Kentucky, I think the Huskies beat them, but Kentucky will win at least a game. I'm going to throw an impromptu one in there because what I'm watching over here is kind of fun to watch. So here we go. This one's not on the sheet, guys. If Florida State pulls this off against Duke tonight, their chances of being a bubble team is blank, Brad. You're talking about the seminals of being a bubble team. All right, let me go ahead and give you my assessment on the fly. They would go to 19 and 14 overall. Street, the schedule in her night was at 51. Okay, not too bad there. 97 and not competition at the schedule. Also not too bad. They would extend their record. Let's see, there's six and five in true row games and standing there. One in three in neutral. They win
and either be two and three in neutrals. Look at how the rest of the resume. Let's see. They would go to four and eight in quad ones, but they have one bad loss at being a quad four. Again, the net's at 67. Let's look at the web, shall we? That wins a bubble is going to be absolutely key. In my estimation, here's the issue comes. There's 66 in web and minus 1.48. If Gavin in this committee is all in on web, being that heavily weighted metric that's out there, you compare that to some of the other teams. The bubble, like I mentioned, an Auburn, like I mentioned in SMU in New Mexico. All those teams are in the mid 40s forward to state. You would have win this game. They may jump into the like 58 57 range. I don't think it's enough of the resume, though. The other matches are strong. There's an argument, but I don't think they make it. Yeah. And look, just going off of what Brad has talked about, the committee doesn't want to
overvalue conference tournaments. This team was not even close to the bubble going into the ACC tournament. And if they beat a Duke team that is missing two starters and had nothing to play for, look, they beat the number one team in the country. I don't think this gets them in. I think they probably have to win the ACC tournament. So I don't think Florida State gets themselves in the conversation, even if they win this game, be a hell of a win. And I'm sure that they could convince themselves that they could win the ACC tournament if they do win this game. So maybe that they enter pit still or territory, they win this game. That's for damn sure. So do they have to win the ACC, Brad, or just make the title game? Again, if they make the title game, they would probably get a couple of more quarter ones under the belt. They would really, really have a strong argument. I think it just comes down to wins a bubble. And that metric, I mean, they got an eight point lead on Duke. And that's got to, you know, count for even more, give it a level of competition. If they can win
by a decent margin, and we're talking like five, six points or more, that'd be very impactful. And we'll buoy their position. So you put it all together, decent win margin, get a couple of more wins. Yeah, maybe they're that sneaky team that comes in off the bubble that nobody was talking about that somehow has their name called on selection Sunday. It's within the range of outcomes. Like it. I like it. All right. Next one, Arkansas will reach blank in the tournament. Pat. Oh, man. I think I was talking about Arkansas yesterday. And Brad, you've got them as a succeed right now. The Arkansas razor backs. Uh, yes, I believe I do. I've got about a gazillion wind. He got him as a five. I do. I got him as a five. Yep. I have a second eyes, five right behind Vanderbilt. Yeah. So let's see, five versus a 12. I would assume they would
probably, you know, beat Akron McNeese Yale or high point. Oh, I do love you. I do love you. All right. If they avoid Yale, they'll win that game. Coach Cal doesn't like losing to the nerds. That's for sure. And then a five four matchup with either if they get Texas tech, I think they're going to win that game for sure. If they get Kansas, uh, much Kansas is under achieve. For sure, they can win that. Bama Arkansas. That would be a hell of a rematch, although I think the committee usually tries to avoid conference matchups in the first two rounds as much as they can. I don't think Virginia is a legitimate team. I know that they just continue to win games. But, um, yeah, look, I think sweet 16. I think sweet 16 is absolutely a possibility. And I would say that's where Arkansas goes. Sweet 16. And then they'll go down to a one seed if they are a five or a four. Yeah. I say sweet 16 as well. They're going to be a second weekend team. They've been a top 10 team on Torvik over the last 30 days. Oh, and by the way, they arguably have the best point guard in the game and Darius A cuff. Last I checked guard play is kind of important. Come March, right?
A little bit. Don't look now, but it's only a one point lead all of a sudden for Florida state. All right, moving on to the next one. The team that wins it all will be from blank conference. Brad? SEC, I think the Florida Gators phone back to back. Yes, I have a ticket on them. I put my money where my mouth is. I grabbed it at 13 to one in early January. Before that team really came together, but they have become more cohesive and they've gotten consistent play in out the car position. That was the only area where they really need to improve. They certainly have was AB and Lee and Boogie Fland. You know, as long as those guys play well in the postseason with the best front court in the game, no weaknesses zero. And I mean literally zero weaknesses right now on paper. They can do everything. Florida tide golden tide golden back to back national titles. I'm begging on it. I'm going with the big 12 because I think Arizona's the best team in
the country. I think they win the national championship. But I'll put a little insurance in here. A little hedge. I combed loves when I, you know, hedge on anything here. And so I'll say if not Arizona, Houston's got a chance to win the national championship. And if we're talking about like the second tier of teams that can maybe Iowa state perhaps. So I think there's three teams in the big 12 that can win the national title. I think it'll be Arizona. But I think they've got the deepest that's been the best conference in the country this year. It's the deepest conference in the country. So I'll go with the big 12 matters. You have no matters. Comes. All right. I guess that's a comes in when I give an answer for that one. All right. We got to take it right anyway. The number number to join the show is 310 840 4910. When we come back, we'll take a trip to Brad's College basketball corner. We'll react to the earlier games and we'll get you an update on two games looking like they're coming down to the wire Houston BYU and Florida state looking to pull off a massive upset on Duke. We'll get you updated when we come back. He's
