Glad you are here. Let's get into it. Jack Lobo, former detective for the Parker's Police Department, gave nearly everything to his old job, and what little he didn't give it took. His wife left him a decade prior. She turned their two kids against him, too. He had not spoken to them in years. The way Jack saw it, his city needed him more than his family did. Sure, he missed a few soccer gains and fundraisers,
but how many lives did he save by working nonstop to keep criminals and psychoes off the street? The Parker's PD Force jacked to retire. He did not go voluntarily into his fourth act. The timing could not have been worse. Only weeks into his retirement, Jack read about the first of what would become known as the Raelic Rippings. Raelic was the local fishing and swimming hole, a secret mostly kept from outsiders who would overcrowded. A fisherman found a half-bridge a body of a male teenager and some cat-ells near the shore. He bore over 20 deadly wounds and an estimated 170-losserations total. Parker had never seen such a brutal crime in all of Jack's years and the force. However, his jealousy completely overshadowed his disgust with the murder. The police chief had personally ordered him to stop calling the tip-line to ask if anything knew had come to light. A crime of passion, that is what they theorized the first of the rippings to be. But that theory crumbled when the second body's surface beneath the exposed roots of a tree in the bank of Raelic. A 22-year-old female out for a jog in the wee ires of mourning, carved up on her way home. Nothing related to the two victims
besides the killer's modus operandi. Standards required one more body to officially label the Raelic group a serial killer, but Jack expected a third body to turn up soon at the later. Weeks passed without another victim, however. Everyone but Jack viewed this hopefully. Board Jack grew creative. He brainstormed ways to gather information by unofficial sources. The first, he thought, might be just across the street. Since the first victim went to the public high school, another high school student might have some insights. Unfortunately for Jack, two high school students lived directly across the street. With school love for the summer, he guessed they might be home. But when he knocked, no one answered. Jack knocked a second time and peered through the valence's front window. A voicebook threw the hedges to his right. Nobody lives there anymore, Jack. White Angles, the valence's next door neighbor, walked around the hedges and up to Jack. White was a young firefighter who had just completed his probationary period. Jack begrudged him the career ahead of him and tried not to hate him for it. White said that family up and left a good while ago.
I figured an old detective like he might have noticed something like that. Hey, I'm not that old Jack said, laughing to hide how much that little word heard. Guess I've been too preoccupied to notice what's happening in my own neighborhood. What's got your attention? Why I baited? Jack dodged. Where'd these folks go? I never saw a moving truck, a sign, or nothing. And you know, I kinda liked, oh, what was his name? Daniel? Why I try? Yeah, that's right. I like Dan too. Didn't talk to him too much, but he seemed like a good guy. White slipped his hands into his pockets, a common habit which had irritated Jack since his beat cop days. White said, well, all I know is he tossed a bunch of bags and boxes in their van in their car early one morning. I only saw them because my jacked up sleep schedule from work. You think they were trying to sneak away? Jack asked. Well, White laughed embarrassingly. To an old dog like you, I probably put it a different way. It didn't seem suspicious or nothing. I thought they were just going on a trip.
How do you know they're not? Ask Jack. I don't answer to White. But six weeks is an awfully long vacation and who takes two cars and their TV on a road trip. Jack held his hand to his brow to block the sun and look through the front window again. White may have been on to something the plants by the window had all wilted photos had all been taken down and the TV was gone here. You don't think these folks were somehow involved with the meadows, to you. White asked, I just realized when they left it was right around when the bodies turned up, I don't know. Jack replied, I came over here to see if the kids knew anything about the student who got killed. I may be an old dog. White, but even old dogs like to know on the occasional bone. White said, I get it. If I hear anything about him, I'll let you know. I mean, maybe one of them just got a new job that needed him right away or something. Jack said, could be. Well, I'm going to get back. He pointed his thumb toward his house. White nodded and removed his hands from his pockets. Good luck, he said, patting Jack on the shoulder then murphyly added, old dog. Jack wanted to call the Rylake Ripper Tip Line but he had been ordered not to without something concrete.
No more theorism speculation, the chief told him. Before Jack could call, he would need to dig. He needed to learn where the veils is run off to and why. Once he had the necessary info, he could decide whether to call them and or leave them be. It did seem highly suspicious though that they fled around the same time the killing stopped. Jack wished social media had existed for more of his career. It made tracking people down easy if they went to careful which the veils is almost were. First, Jack tried Marco, the veils a 17 year old son. Marco had not posted anything in weeks but appeared to be a frequent poster before that. Ironically, maybe his last post was a selfie taken at Rylake him running clothes. The caption read, looping the lake today. Hope nobody chopped me up. He's either brave, stupid or both, Jack thought. He moved on to Marco's 15 year old sister, Leana. Unlike her brother, she had continued posting continuously and her posts contained everything former detective Lawba needed. The family had moved to a middling town called Albany to state's over a town just big enough to get lost in. Leana and Marco had always seen clothes
but Jack could not find a single photo of her brother on Leana's page. It was like once they moved, Marco ceased to exist. Through Leana's, Jack found Daniel and Christina's pervals. Neither of them had a single photo of Marco nor any family photos on their pages. There were, however, plenty of photos of Leana so Jack knew concerns over their children's privacy went to blame for Marco's absence. He found one post on Christina's page dating back four years ago. If Reed, happy 13th, might not so baby boy. I cannot believe our little Marco is a teenager. I feel so old. These wereids with the only acknowledgement of Marco Jack could find on either parent pages. He assumed the posts simply slipped by them when they raised him. Two possibilities argued in Jack's mind. The first said Marco was the Roy Lake River. Perhaps the first murder had been a crime of passion, a heated moment gone wrong, but after discovering his ability to dominate another person, Marco went after a target of desire. There had been no publicized evidence of sexual assault and the female victim, nor the male for that matter,
but Jack's beculated it could have been kept out of the media or that Marco lost his nerve mid-act. His family may have enough to his guilt and moved him away to Hyden. Maybe they just didn't want their knots so baby boy put away for life before he really started living. The second possibility felt even more sinister to Jack. He said Daniel Valenza was the ripper and he had murdered his own son. Christina could not be completely ruled out, but Jack thought she was a less likely suspect. Maybe Marco discovered his father's secret or even caught him in the act and Daniel shut him up forever. Marco might have been buried somewhere in Parkhurst at the bottom of Roy Lake or potentially in nominee. Jack checked to see if any unidentified bodice had turned up there recently. The Daniel Verne's theory, easily the shaker of the two, contained many holes to fill with speculation. Why did he choose those victims? One possibility was that Dan reads some of the online comments after the first murder about the perpetrator being frustrated and closed at a homosexual and killed a woman to disprove them. But why would Dan and want to move away? Was he afraid of being caught? By this point, Jack felt he was reaching for answers
and in his experience that never led to accurate results. Whenever he sat back and took in the whole picture he's got accused Marco. But where was Marco? Jack gave his tip about the valences to the Omni Police Department. He'd been given no orders about contacting other departments. The officer who took his call sounded disinterested and dismissive. The officer didn't ask for Jack's phone number. He had to offer it as the officer was trying to hang up. He waited two days for a call back and you would never come. Even if anybody visited the valences to check on Marco, they wouldn't call some guy to stay to wait to let him know how it went. Drew McIntyre here from WWE. Finally, that zippercruder.com slash zip. Jack revisited Leanna's profile and found a selfishly took on a front porch. The number 417 hung prominently in white numerals on blue siding behind her. He used Google to examine every 400 block in harmony and determine which were residential, which reduced the potential street addresses to 417 Quica Street, 417 Gilmore Avenue, or 417 Turmbac Road. Google estimated the drive tying to harmony at four hours and 19 minutes. Jack left at 10 in the morning and arrived at around 2.30 that afternoon. He checked Quica Street in Gilmore Avenue but did not find the blue house. As he drove to Turmbac Road, he thought what a fitting name. After arriving in harmony, he had started to feel like he should turn back. The murders were not his problem. Nora was the well-being of Marco Vailsa. He had been told to back off and instead of deeper. Duff or duck? Dieting implied he might surface again. They can put him down in a hole. He had to be careful not to take so deep he could not climb out. 417 Turmbac Road was a modest house
with blue siding and white trim. And although they had new license plates, Jack recognized the Vailsa's cars in the driveway. The Vailsa's old house had been one to envy but this one looked like a typical starter home. Jack supposed money must get tight when he was atled with two mortgages. So why hadn't they put their parker's home on the market? They didn't want to draw attention, maybe. Or perhaps they had left a body or two hidden inside it. Perhaps a body belonging to their own son and brother, Marco. Jack parked two houses down and across the street from 417. He dawned the black baseball cap he kept in his glove box and pulled it down to his eyebrows, then settled in to observe. But Jack love it, the old dog did not account for how exhausting the spontaneous road trip had been, well how per asleep that we could be in. No thanks to late night cuff is at the computer. His young yourself could have pushed through, he had no doubt. Jack's mistake was thinking he still was his younger self. In his car under the shade of a wide tree, old dog Jack Lobba's chin dipped and he started to snore. Knuckles wrapping on his window startled Jack awake. Embarrassed, he looks tree at the knocker.
It was Daniel Vailsa. Jack tugged his cap down, but his identity had already been spoiled. He saw the recognition in Daniel's eyes. Hey, it's you, Daniel said, his you almost turning into a question at the end. Jack met his eyes again. Although Daniel was forcing a smile, his eyes betrayed his true feelings. Hi, Dan, Jack said, as he rolled down his window. It's Jack. From across the street, Daniel said. They're all detective, right? Retired, but yes, that's me. Well, Jack, what exactly are you doing all the way out here? Don't tell me it's coincidence, I'm not in it. There's no need to be like that, Jack said. It's really just, is this about the murders? Daniel interrupted. Jack couldn't lie for long, so he cut to the chase. No, it's about your son, unless you think those subjects might be linked. Daniel's face twisted in offense. He said, get away from my house. He ain't got no jurisdiction here, so get and point it up the road. Jack said, just tell me, Marko's okay, Dan. If he's missing, if you think he's runaway or something,
this is not a good time to Daniel and drop it again. Not a good time. Now just when is a good time to reflect on the killing spree that made you a band in your own home, huh? When's a good time for that, Jack? Jack licked his teeth behind his lips, thinking. How had he not considered the veils as might have been running away from the killer? Surely it must have seemed prudent after one of Marco and Liana Skolmitz ended up butchered by the lake. Finally, Jack asked, was that it? Is that the only reason you ran? Daniel said, I was protecting my kids' man. That's all it was and all it is. So again, I'm asking you to leave. But Dan, where is Marco? Daniel escalated to rage. Stop calling me Dan. It's Daniel. If you're gonna keep saying my name, say it right. Jack attempted to respond, but Daniel bulldozed over him. My son is here and he's safe. That's all you need to know. You're a Wastop detective looking for one more big case, huh? Oh man, I bet when those bottles turned up, you just started slubbering like a dog, didn't you? An old dog. Jack couldn't help but think.
As much as he wanted to roll up his window and drive off, leaving Daniel and his hard truce he could not. He sighed, then asked, could I just see Marco? Daniel said, you want to see something? Take a look at this. Daniel flipped him the bird. He held it out to see Terran back toward his house and walked away. Jack supposed things would get ugly if he stuck around so he started his car and pulled away from the cope. Something caught Jack's eye as he rolled past the veils his new house. In a second floor window, a curtain moved. Jack managed to catch a brief glimpse of a young male figure peeking through the upstairs window. The person's build could have been Marco's only to skin, which Jack remembered being bronze, matched the white curtains to either side of him. A sun glare across the figure's face prevented Jack from making a positive identification, but that must be Marco, he thought. He's alive after all. Resigned, embarrassed, and honestly a little defeated. Jack said course for home. When he flipped on his turn signal to enter the end of state on ramp, it was like he flipped his switch in his brain. Falling asleep had made him feel old and useless. He had let Daniel scare him off,
but none of the series had yet been disproven. He shot off his turn signal. I made a U-turn further ahead. Had the figure in the window been Marco or could it have been a new victim? Perhaps whichever veils it was killing people had escalated their ammo to include kidnapping and imprisonment. Maybe the Ripper had altered his process to prevent someone like Jack from connecting the dots. Parking in a recognizable car without a state plates in broad daylight had been Jack's real first mistake, not falling sleep. He vowed to return to the house that night with the new strategy. After a cheap meal, he stopped at a sporting good store for a pair of binoculars. Just before sunset, he par far enough upturned by crew to remain inconspicuous, then waited. Daniel, Christina, and Leana periodically walked past windows. As the sunset, they turned lights on and off. Jack saw Christina appear wearing of amidst wants and guess she was preparing dinner. His theory proved correct when the dining room light turned on and Leana walked in with silver were clutched in her hands. As her daughter set the table, Christina passed by the front window with a loaded plate. Another light lit up on the second floor
and Christina disappeared. Jack narrated to no one, she's taking a plate upstairs. If that's Marco, why isn't he eating with the family? The light in the room Jack had seen the figure and turned on. The same figure stood there again. Jack gasped and slid down in his seat. The boy, obviously Marco now with no obscuring glare was staring directly at him. His room had been so dark and he'd been so still. Jack had not noticed in their watching. As Christina entered, Marco slowly turned toward her. Jack saw a paired of handcuffs binding his hands behind his back and a chain hanging from them. Tension in the chain informed Jack of a weight or tether trapping Marco in place. Christina set the plate down on top of Marco's dresser. She said something through lips to stiff for Jack to read then quickly backed out of the room and shut the door. Marco plotted over to the plate, looked on at it, then slowly lowered his face, opening his mouth wide. Jack felt the urge to look away out of shame for the boy. To be treated in such a way by his parents no less was dehumanizing, but Jack did not have to look away. Just as Marco's open teeth met his meal,
the bedroom light went off. Christina joined a Leana and Daniel in the dining room. They all shared awkward four smiles then sat down together. Jack knew he needed to call in reinforcements. No, just reinforcements. He reminded himself he wasn't a cop anymore. Just an old dog. His phone was in the cup holder. He picked it up. When he looked back at the family, he saw Daniel had stood. Curious why he would do so just after sitting down, Jack peeked through the binoculars. Daniel stayed right back. Like he had superpowers, or maybe Jack had simply forgotten how far a good set of eyes could see, Daniel spotted Jack's guard down the street. His fists culled in fury, and he marched toward the front door. Jack bailed out of his car, shutting the doors quietly, but as quickly as he could. Punching over, he crossed the street and ran behind a hedger. Daniel acted at his house and stormed across his yard. He crossed the street diagonally, making a direct line for Jack's car. Jack ducked floor. He wanted to move, but to go either direction, he would have to leave cover. He watched Daniel approach his car, look inside,
then kick the front left tire. Daniel swore in his, where are you, you creep? Leave us alone, I'll put you down. I'm sure you will, Jack thought. Then again, because he could not help himself, he thought like an old dog. Daniel seemed to recognize his error, namely how Jack was there investigating motors, and he had just threatened to kill him. His disposition softened slightly, and he said, oh, you know I don't really mean that. Come on, just come out. Let's sort this out so you can get on home. He's not threatening to call the police because he can't, Jack thought. The only thing worse for Daniel than having a retired detective snooping around would be to have active cops looking in. It did not take long for Daniel to develop a curiosity about the nearby hedgers. As he sidled over to them, humming the whole way, Jack looked for an escape and found none. While Daniel was still too far away to touch him, Jack stood revealing himself in the fainting rays of sunlight. You caught me, Daniel. I think you know why I couldn't let this go. I think he almost understanding some things. Daniel replied, oddly calm. Jack asked, care to illuminate why your son is chained up in his room.
God, man, Daniel scolded. He took a few steps closer, but Jack stood his ground, relying on the hedger still separating them. Daniel whispered, not here. Come back to the house, and I'll explain everything, okay? I know how bad it looks. Jack followed Daniel to 417 turn back road, the streets name echoing in his head like a warning with each step. He wished he had brought a gun. He had never particularly cared for guns and had never needed to draw one in his entire career. He had opted to leave his dusty nine-empt at her home, no need to get tied up in questionable legalities of interstate gun laws. But as Daniel led him onto the porch, Jack felt he would have preferred to face the lower than go inside at house and armed. This is far enough. He said at the top of the porch steps. Daniel held the front door half-way open and turned to look back at him. I would rather the neighbors don't hear any of this. Jack said, we can talk quite, can't we? Come on, detective, I ain't gonna hurt ya. Almost comically, Daniel's tone indicated he would enjoy nothing more than herding Jack right then. Jack said, I'm not going in, and if you don't want a bunch of cops
crawling around, I said it. Daniel lunged. Jack stepped backward, forgetting the stairs behind him. His left foot fell and he lost his balance. Only Daniel's powerful hands catching Jack's shirt prevented him from tumbling. Daniel yanked. Jack still off-balance stumbled toward him. Daniel reached around the back of Jack's head with one hand and grabbed a fistful of hair. He tried to push Jack's head down and when Jack resisted, Daniel punched him hard in the stomach. Jack, feeling more the old dog than ever, doubled over and Daniel walked him inside. Before the door closed, Jack tried to scream for help, but his lungs were empty and his diaphragm only spasmed. This is him. Christina Vales asked when she walked into the entryway and found the wrestling man. Get some rope or something, Daniel ordered. What are you doing to him, daddy? Liana asked. Jack could not see where she was with his head still forced outward. Daniel said, I just got to figure out our next steps, sweetie. You recognize this guy. He's our old neighbor and he's just curious about your brother. Is he trying to take Marco?
Asked Liana. Jack reeled. I'm not trying to take anybody. Daniel, please, and just. No, no, no. You threatened police already. Daniel interrupted. That's your world. Got a problem? 911, what's your emergency? Not everything can be solved with laws and guns, detective. What's going on with my son can't be handled the cops. What is going on? Jack asked for an assay. Here you go, Christina said. Reappearing with a spool of yarn and a revolver. Hey, hey, hey, there's no need for that. Jack shouted. Daniel said, damn it, Christina, yarn and ink can hold him. Well, that's all I have. Christina argued. Besides, if he gets loose, that's what this is for. She raised the gun. Jack noted the six shiny cartridges protruding from each chamber and also Christina's to make grip on the weapon. Okay, now let's all just simmer down here at Jack Pled. I ain't looking to cause nobody harm, okay? I'm just interested in making sure you're all safe. Shut up, Dennis Bat.
Jack ignored him. Diana, why is your brother locked up, huh? Have your parents ever heard you? That's enough, scream Christina. Just tell him, Daddy, Diana begged. Jack inserted. I didn't mean for this to go this way. I tried contacting the local PDN, you already called the cops. Daniel shouted. His grip on the back of Jack's neck inadvertently listened. Jack pretended not to notice. It was days ago, said Jack. If they were remotely interested, you'd have heard from them by now. Diana repeated, Daddy, please tell him. No girled and his grip on Jack's neck tightened again. Jack went, but then Daniel let go completely. Christina raised the revolver as Jack stood. He raised his hands in futile defense. With a slight glare, Daniel said he'll behave, won't he? Jack replied with one of his old dogs saying, nobody huts me, I hut nobody. Daniel nodded grimly. He turned to Leanna, who Jack now saw hovering above them on the stairs. Her father said, sweetie, go close the front curtains, please. Then Nate Jack followed her.
He stood around the small living room. No one turned on the light, so only the dying glow of sunset for a curtain illuminated them. Something happened to Marco, Daniel began. We don't know how to make sense of it, but we can't have cops and doctors or we're not sniffing around while we figure it out. Are you sure you don't already understand what happened to him? Jack asked. I mean, if Marco did something. A little boy is the victim here, Christina cut in. I don't know if somebody did something to him, but he's not the same as he was before. We're all terrified. With him? Us Jack. Too long passed before Daniel answered. No. You sure? Jack asked. This time everyone's stay quiet. Jack posed a blunt question. Did he kill those two young people back in parkourst? No, all three of them buck so loudly flinched. Christina's gun was making him jumpy. Upstairs, a heavy thump shook the floor. Everyone looked up. Shane scraped across the floor, whattling as they twisted over themselves. Christina grabbed Daniel's shoulder.
I didn't take his plate, she whispered. Daniel swallowed and turned to Liana. Sweetie, did you happen to take your brother's plate? The Yana shook her head. A floor boarder buff growned. Jack felt momentarily forgotten while the family processed the plate business. Whatever had changed in Marco apparently gave him an unnatural sort of dominance over his family. They all looked terrified now. And over a dirty dish? The change rattled again. Jack said maybe he needs help. Liana said, seriously, who's going to get the plate? Upstairs, the plate in question shattered. His sounded like Marco deliberately chucked it at the wall. Why don't you give him paper plates? Jack asked. The suggestion seemed too obvious and immediately felt relevant. He eats them, Liana replied. Come on, Daniel suddenly ordered Jack. He let him up, a copped at stairs, and around an obtuse angle to a bedroom door with three sliding locks. The chains ringing pierced through the door. They rang in repetitive cycles. Jack could picture them first going slack, then suddenly tightening at the further extension.
Marco is jacked from across the street at your old place. Remember me? Jack called out. They'll talk to him, Daniel scolded. Don't try to reason with him. Don't even look at him. Got it? Just help me hold on to him. Why? Jack asked. So you can understand what we're dealing with, said Donald. He ended the locks. Christina and Liana stood at the ready behind the two men. Christina held her gun down at her side with no intention of using it. Despite his distaste of firearms, Jack wished that gun was in his hand. Donald gave a grim nod to his wife, then swung the door open. Marco valed and stopped jerking his chains. As Jack had noted through the window, his skin looked deathly pale. His bloodshot eyes pointed slightly away from each other. Jack wondered if the boy had suffered a head trauma which caused the changes his parents noticed. Perhaps someone had tried to kill him after all. Marco's curly hair stuck to itself in loose clusters. The greasy hair would have given away his lack of hygiene if the onion smell of his body odour didn't first.
As Jack followed Donald into Marco's room, Marco hunched over and bat behind his bed. Charles of the porcelain plate lay scattered across the floor. Just before Marco slipped behind the footboard, Jack saw a particularly large and pointy piece clutched in his hands, poking out from behind his back. He's holding a big piece of the plate. Jack whispered to Donald, and he held up a hand. Silently saying, let me handle this Marco, buddy, I'm going to need that thing in your hand, Donald's bookers are talking to a toddler can you slide it over to me. They hurried him shuffle behind the bed, Marco, come on, you're not in trouble, Marco growled. Deep and throaty brain damage on nine, Jack had never heard a teenage boy, or any human for that matter, makes such a sound. Marco rattled his chains furiously. Buddy, I just need the plate, okay? Donald tried again. We'll clean up the rest of this mess too. Was dinner good. The chains continued ringing, cashing together in a quick rhythm. Another sound, like chewing, joined them. What's he doing? Jack whispered, I'm not sure Donald replied. Though it was a loud crack in the chain suddenly stopped rattling. Marco came forward on his knees peaking out from behind the bed.
A self-satisfied green-stretched curses face. He ready to hand it over, but asked Donald. Marco disappeared again. Jack let out a frustrated sigh, which Donald silently scolded him for. Without warning, the big piece of porcelain knocked over the bed, spinning as it flew toward them. Both men dodged it, but Jack just barely. It crashed on the floor beside him and shattered. Every broken piece was streaked with blood. Dan, Jack shouted, but Daniel was looking toward the bed. Marco had risen to his full height and maintained his sicker in with his eyes slightly apart. Jack realized he had one eye pointed at him and the other pointed at his father. Slowly Marco drew his hands up from behind his back, the rattle of chains notably absent from his movement. Both hands were smeared in dripping blood. His left thumb hung loosely from a strap of skin. The hand of stangled from his right wrist. Christina screamed. One of Marco's eyes followed to sound. Oh, God, Daniel muttered. He had gone as pale as his son. Jack whispered you've got to get that bleeding under control and then this boy needs the hospital.
In response to this, Marco growled again. He replaced his sinister grin with the skull. Both eyes focused on Jack, his head lowered like a stalking tiger. The annual whimpered, Marco, buddy. Both of Marco's eyes snapped to his father and he pounced. Jack moved intervene between the father and son but Marco was too fast. He wrapped his limbs around his father's upper half, knocking him off balance. They went to the ground where Daniel unleashed an agonized hull that was cut short by a brutal crunch. Jack grabbed the back of Marco's filthy shirt and tried to pull him off but Marco was attached at the mouth to Daniel's neck. Help me, Jack yelled to the women. The anorushed in but Christina remained at the door trembling. As soon as Leana was in reach, Marco released Daniel and grout her instead. Shooted him. Jack cried as he attempted to rescue Leana. Christina stayed frozen. Jack screamed, shoot him now. Marco bit awfully and is no since batted at Jack. The girl's cries renewed Jack's resolve. He could not rely on Christina. He pushed his right arm between Marco and Leana and tried to wedge himself in.
Marco whipped Jack's face with his dangling handcuffs. He hit Jack over and over until he was forced to back away. Then Marco pounced. He knocked Jack onto the bed and went to work, teeth gnashing, hands ripping like talons. Jack tried to tell the woman to run but Marco bit down on his throat and made sure the old dog, Jack Claubber, would never buck again. After identifying the bodies, the police began a search for Marco Veinsa. The only trace he left behind was a trail of blood leading a short way up the street before vanishing. Jack Claubber's fallen contained an unhered voicemail when the investigators bagged it up for evidence. It was from the parker's chief of police. He had caught Jack personally to apologize and asked if he'd gathered any more information about the Veinsa family.
The chief reported that Marco Veinsa's mutilated body had just washed up on the shore of Raelic. The medical examiner approximated the time of his murder at right around when Jack said Veinsa's fled town. He might be under something, Lobo recorded the chief. You just be careful.
