0:00Thanks for listening to the Donnie and Dolly podcast. Catch the show Monday through Friday, 10am to noon on check. I think you're going to want to hear this. Your local sports coverage lives here. Do not think it's out of it. Not so fast, co-ho breath with John Taylor. I say that the winner of the draft lottery should be the winner of a two man loose. And Rick Dolly wall. I had a cherry tree up a little rickie. I used to go up that tree and just sit there for hours and bunch on those trees. Years Donnie and Dolly. 10 o'clock at downtown Vancouver, run the Paul Carson studio. Thanks for tuning in folks. It's Donnie and Dolly the team on check. Don Taylor along with Rick Dolly wall. Ryan Henderson is our producer. He's the man at the controls our director, the voice of God. Is Derek Wong. How are you? Oh, just getting everything together.

1:00Beautiful, beautiful time watching this Canadian game this morning. If we appear distracted this morning, or at least at the start of the show, if we appear distracted, it's because there's still two minutes left in the... I'm not supposed to say this, but there's still two minutes left in the Canada. Chechi a game over in Italy. Five nothing for Canada. Good guys are leading five nothing. Donnie, it's been really good from start to finish so far. You cannot be unhappy with this result. I realize this morning because this is such... They're all important at the Olympics. You know, see these tournaments where one game means so much. Sure. I'm trying to figure out if I enjoy this in terms of... I enjoy watching a game in which I care so much about one team winning. And for me, it happens.

2:00I'm like it does for so many of us in this country. When Canada is involved in something, and I'll say it, it's especially men's hockey. It's an uncomfortable watch. You know, you don't know what it is to assume the worst is going to happen. It's good because Canada has come through so many times and certainly today. I sold less than a minute left. Five nothing. Canada over at Chechi. I don't know how many people are watching us today, but if you are, we can't thank you enough. What else is going on in the world today, meaning this game right here? It's finally nice to see Don NHL players back at the Olympics. It's been so many years. Let's get that out of the way. People are being hard to watch. People get so nervous about this situation. I had a neighbor who would not watch the gold medal game in 2010 in Vancouver. He was just too anxious about it.

3:02He cared too much and he ended up washing all of his family's cars. I think pressure washing the driveway. His wife was very happy, but he couldn't watch. He couldn't handle the angst. It's over now. Canada ends up winning and all that speaking of angst, all that worry about Jordan Binnington. Look, the shots are going if we have it here. They were fairly even for much of the game. Jordan Binnington starts off with a shutout. Our understanding is that for tomorrow's game against the Swiss, the John Cooper will go with one of his other two gold tenders. Logan Thompson backed him up today, so he's going to be the guy tomorrow against the Swiss. You know what I like today, Don? Five different goalscores. Three of those goalscores today were not at the four nations. So you added guys that weren't at the four nations. McDavid III assists, Crosby, you know, two assists. The stone goal everyone is going to talk about Mitch Marner.

4:04What a great play. But before Mitch Marner got the puck, who gave him the nice subtle? Oh, it was Marner made the play there. Yeah, I know, but there was a nice subtle pass on the boards by Crosby. You're just so anti-loss. I'm so anti-leaf. I like me. Nice subtle pass by Sydney Crosby on the boards. Little plays. What a Travis Green say, the little things. But little plays like that. But yeah, you're right. Marner made the big play, but nice pass by Crosby to him in open area. But you know what? Just a very solid effort. And all those people rip in Canadian gold to any Bennington today, Don? What's one game? Yeah, 26 safe shot. Don't forget. He was great in a four nations final game, Don. The Americans said, but you know, bring it or not. Well, we'll see what happens. But there's one thing about Jordan Bennington and you know, hats off to him today. And again, it's not like they have three shots on goal. But one thing about Bennington that you hear a lot of, that I'm not so sure it applies anymore. He's a Stanley Cup winning gold tender.

5:05Seven years ago. Yeah. But many years ago, John Cooper believes in him. Who am I? Who were you to go against John Cooper? Yeah. And this is where Canadian gold tending is, though, too done, right? You know, it's been an issue for a few years now. But did you see one of the guys who scored today, Don? I think his name is Volhorbat. I think you used to play in Bennington. It's funny. And I talk about things that we shouldn't do in the world of broadcasting. And mentioning an event that's happening on another channel, probably not a good idea. I'll probably hear about it from our boss over in Victoria after the show. Something else you're not supposed to do when the Olympics are going on. And that is as a non-rights holder to show highlights. Or even one highlight. But we're going to do that anyway. Okay. Yeah. You talked about Volhorbat. I heard the third goal for Canada on a semi-breakway. I think we're okay doing this.

6:05Let's be rebels here. Yeah. All right. Volhorbat making it three nothing. Volhorbat scores! Yeah, we did it. We did it. It's like you're there. We thought outside the box. Well, you know why that was actually courtesy of the New York Islanders. Being a little bit creative. And during sports page days when we couldn't show rights or when there was a strike going on, we would show table hockey. Yeah. So, Volhorbat scoring. Boy, I'll tell you that was a tough goal. And we're going to introduce the poll question here in a bit. I hate this not being able to show highlights. I know we've talked about this before, but... What are the people in the IOC thinking? I guess it's pretty popular and the ratings are good. I just think they could be even better if they promoted their product a little bit more. By allowing, you know, someone like Czech TV to show 30 seconds worth of highlights,

7:10but they don't. They don't. It's just so strange. And you can't... There's no highlights on Twitter. It's just on social media. It's just weird. It's just archaic. I don't get it. Yes, somebody paid a lot of money to have the rights. I guess that's the case. Okay, fine. That happens with the NHL, the NBA, and the NFL, too. And they allow that sort of thing. And yet, I'm going on an old man rant here. I should have the cane. That's the right bread. But I just... I don't get it. You know? I... Yeah. They're... They're making a lot of money. I get it. You could make more. Yeah. Anybody in the old guys in charge of the IOC? I think they're older than me if you could believe that. If any of you are listening, just a little bit of advice. I'll loosen up on those restrictions. Okay. So, Borjorvat scores. Yeah. It was a breakaway. Semi-breakaway. Partial breakaway. Set up from Brad Martian. Did you see who he... He split the defense beating who on the right side? I believe the guy he beat was a guy named Philip Horonik.

8:13Future captain, apparently, in the Vancouver connox. He beat Horonik the guy that connox used the first round. Drop pick to get in the Borjorvat trade. Interesting. Yeah. Beat him to the middle of the ice. So, Borjorvat scores. And what did he end up with, ice time wise? It was 9.94. 9 minutes. But really nice, as you saw there, just, you know, beautiful. It was to make it 3-0 thing. This leads to our Waddling Dog poll question. Experience one of Victoria's iconic destinations. Sleep, sip, stock up. All-in-one legendary spot. The Waddling Dog. Come sit and stay at the Waddling Dog. Today, Rick. All right, Ryan, get her up the Waddling Dog poll question. How do you feel about Borjorvat's performance today for Team Canada? Happy as a Canadian is leading the way at 72%. Boy oh boy, pain as a connox fan is at 28%, 218 votes already. You know, you can dissect the Borjorvat trade you can do on.

9:15And when this regime... We do. Yeah. And it looks back on all their mistakes. And it's going to come down to picking Orr Miller over Horvat than trading Miller a year later. Look what Bo did today. He won face-offs. He was on the PK. You know, he only played 9.54. And scores a beautiful breakaway goal. It showed an incredible speed. Remember his rookie year and people complained about his skating? And people said he's not a great skater. He improved it. He improved it, Don. It sounds familiar, doesn't it? Yeah, he improved it, Don. To now, he's a beautiful skater. And he worked on it. That doesn't happen. He's done on Team Canada. And I remember watching him a year or two after the connox drafted him. It was so obvious. He'd gone out of his way to improve his skating. Yes. Somebody drafted that high. First round. Nice overall. And he ends up going, I'm not good enough. And I'm going to improve my skating. Yep. And you wish everybody would think like that. Yeah.

10:16And it just goes to show you a high pick in the draft. And his skating is not there. And he improved it at the NHL level. And I'll say what I always say. I don't think many people complained when the bullhorn that trade was made. They had to make room there. They had to decide one or the other. Yeah. And I think the people that did complain were complaining about. They let the Canadian go. And that thinking is out there. I'm like that. Yeah. But I don't remember myself, yourself, Ryan, anybody out there. And you can tell me if you folks, if you did think that way. But I don't remember anybody going, that was the stupidest deal in the world. But as time has gone on, I'm not saying it's a dumb deal or a bad move. But today on a day when bullhorn that looked pretty good. And we see the season he's having with the islanders. Heck, the fact that he's chosen for a team Canada. Oh. It hurts kind of fans a little bit. And I get it. I know a lot of people are saying, you saw the results of the pull question.

11:16Hey, I don't care. It's about team Canada. This is great. But just a little bit of pain there. And the thing is, Rick, that you've got people in charge of the Connuck organization right now. They're supposed to know. We didn't complain about it. These guys are supposed to know more than us. And it happens once or twice fine. But it's happened multiple times. And it's tough for fans to take. But at the time, I don't remember a lot of complaining. Okay. But hold it a second, Don. What really hurts is they never got an everyday sentiment back. That's what hurts. Well, they had Miller. Yeah. Right. What did they want more than anything? They wanted a right handed defenseman. Don. They got one. I get it. He's been. He's been. He's been great. Ratu is not an everyday sentiment. For Miller, they got heat all he's been hurt. And this big reason why their center ice position is decimated is because they never got taught. But what did you say at the time? They had Miller. I agree. Okay. Then so a year and a half later, they trade Miller. Well, here's what I want to know.

12:16Help me out here. Ryan, you can jump in. How are you today? Yeah, by the way. Yeah. Small, small. The thing that I think people wonder about and can't help but wonder about, I can't remember. Because I'm not that bright as people know when watching this show. Yeah. When they made that deal, what was the relationship like between Patterson and Miller? They knew. They knew that so you trade Miller instead of Horvath, that goes away. Yeah. So that was the bonus, if you will, had you traded Miller instead of Horvath at the time. This regime knew Patterson and Miller weren't getting along. It went back to Travis Green. Green dealt with Miller and Patterson feud. So did Boudreau. So did talk it. So did everybody. Everybody knew about these two not getting along because it goes back five years. Okay, but it obviously grew in a bad way. It got worse. It got worse. It got worse. Hockey guys, they've probably seen something like this.

13:17Oh, they'll, they'll, they're professionals. This will go away. Didn't go away. Didn't go away. Didn't go away. It clearly got worse. It clearly got worse to the point where after trading a stud center like Horvath, yeah, I did trade. Another one, if you want to say that I'm a JT Miller of these days, in JT Miller. That's, and then now what's happening with the center rice position? They haven't got a true number one center. They don't have a true number one center. This is why I'm sorry. This management team should probably be fired because every gamble they've made as a group has failed. They screwed up. You trade Horvath, which was a gamble. That gamble didn't pay off. Then, then you, then you kept Pederson. That gamble has not paid off. Then you traded. You're forgetting one big, big, big element here. The contract. They couldn't trade Pederson. Well, they signed up. That's what I'm saying. That was the gamble. You kept him.

14:17Yeah. You kept him. Yeah. You, you, you, because they kept Pederson. There's a first gamble. You kept him. Signed him. Gamble. Didn't pay off. I pay Tucker. I don't. I didn't. And you kept him paying off. That gamble has paid off. I didn't pay off. Pay off. Pay off. I got to start thinking about this when it first ended last Tuesday. I'm not looking on this spot. I got to door at the lake. My goal was to get as many…" I have to go out to take my stuff. That was the last squad and I got to do my вещи. see how much he plays but that gamble didn't pay off he was good at four nations I'll give him that yeah but since then what's happened with this plate so every gamble again this this gamble the organization gambled in the offseason by resigning bessar by extending chemical all of these gambles have not paid off let me say something I do keep your job and Rick you you're the you're the guy to talk to about this how close did they come in reality talking

15:19with Carolina about Martin natures and I and I bring when you talk about a deal for peterson sorry it was quite you're right don't because I'm watching that game today and natures if I'm not mistaken wears 88 for Colorado yeah he's wearing 98 okay in this tournament I'm watching and you know again not that bright who's this 98 he's clearly the best check player out there and he was he was like maybe the the one player who really really dostal was pretty good to yeah even despite the five goals but he was great I'm not 98 and again we're watching the TVs at a distance here anyway I should have been paying more attention when we're getting ready for the show I realize it's him and I'm like my gosh what if what if they had made that deal he just stood out so much they they were deep in talks deep in talks and then Carolina shifted over to Ranton and and that that just the deal was done I haven't looked at at our base side Oster front reserve I have box yet it's hopping well I'm sure it might be

16:20hopping and bopping but I guarantee you Canada wins a five nothing over in Italy everybody's happy they beat meet the checks and these idiots are complaining about conduct management again well it's been got to make for some people anyway you saw the pool tough to see bohors that score a pretty goal like that and he didn't want to go that's such an elite you didn't want to go down okay here's what's coming up on the show is it just made D Team Z coming up in the 11 o'clock hour just after 11 John Shannon will join us John's a BC boy as you know grew up in Oliver he'll have a thing to say well of course about today's result five nothing Canada over the checks over in Italy but about listening to Jim Robinson working with Jim Robinson big ride that's quick I'm by the way thanks everybody we received some kind words about our show yesterday which was focused completely on Jim Robinson and we can't thank you enough we also can't thank you enough for all the submissions we received in our

19:25you it's got to be earned yeah all right fair enough fair enough I'll I'll get to it at some point all right Canada 5 Chechia no score men's hockey begins for our country over in Italy you wanted to talk about bow or that oh well look you went to first of all it was really good performance by the Canadians every time I looked up like the shops were even but Canada was dominating I don't know how it went that way I think they were full value for a five nothing when it could have been worse if they're still didn't stand on his head especially in the first period so look good but even in that first period bow or that and his line looked really really good and bow looked like he belonged on this stage it mattered so much to him to not make the four nations team like that really upset him so this was a motivator for him and and he lived up to it and when he scored the goal quite honestly Donnie I kind of had Trevor Lyndon vibes from Nagano right when he remember Trevor got traded and I looked that that was

20:25immediate right he was traded and right away went to the Olympics and and wound up scoring a goal a key goal for Canada even though they didn't have a great finish to that tournament and even though it's been three years for bow it still feels like that to me you know forever a conuck but when I go back and I know this has kind of been easy content for a lot of shows in this market today with bow playing the way he did is everyone's gonna revisit the trade and for me you know how I felt about it the day it happened you know I felt about it as it was happening because we knew that when the conuck signed JC Miller that this was inevitable that this was gonna happen and then we get to the outlier season when they got to rounds deep into the playoffs two years ago and we put that into different contacts because we think that that was the norm when really that was the outlier and when Bo Horvat left the Vancouver Conucks they became a different team they became a different organization and so much of the drama the internal strife the problems the culture issues all of it would have been alleviated if the conucks had made the right decision to get that

21:29Horvat contract across the finish line and it was right there to the 11th hour it was all but done and then at the end of August Jim Rutherford put out an ultimatum to Horvat's camp they said no and within three days JC Miller got signed and everything changed and it all look good when they got to the playoffs but I said it then and I'll say it now character matters and the organization lost a huge amount of it when this player left I don't remember you saying that yeah go look go look go look on Twitter I'll send it to you before it happened during an effort yes do that I'll say you do that I think they're all for that deal I posted the receipts you can even look at just tag Donnie and Dolly on one of the posts earlier Henderson can tell you from 2023 January when that trade happened and I said they're a lesser organization without him all right that's Henderson you'll put it up there's no revision of sister

22:30here I've been consistent with this message character matters that room has been a disaster more often than it hasn't there right there seeing the entire turn over they're having to take it down to the studs this didn't need to happen if Horvat was still a conuck what's rico by a dinner okay he is right I can't put it up right now but it just January 30th 2023 and it said the end line it's make no mistake they're a lesser organization without him Horvat in it as classy as they come I'm glad for him he's in a better place that's the one so you can write on this show save the receipts my friend day day traded their captain it's not you know it's it's pretty obvious you're losing a quality guy when you trade your captain right I mean it's a pretty good at trading counts but they're pretty good at trading captains they've done enough well at the time you'd have to think the GT Miller coming off a 99 point season had greater trade value yeah right because eventually they had to move on

23:30from Horvat so people were saying me well they were screwed on the right side on defense and they were able to turn that into filipronic they traded Miller they could have got more than filipronic back the other way well they never got a top six entertainment back that's what's killing them today well yeah those were subsequent moves I'm just talking about when Horvat was traded if they had made the decision to sign Horvat and trade Miller they could have gotten even more for Miller at the time it was a mistake then and it like we're feeling the effects of it three years later in defense of the connects that summer in the contract they made an offer to Horvat's camp it was nowhere near what Horvat's camp was looking for but the hockey department was divided a lot of people wanted Horvat this was the decision made by the top guy to pick Miller over Horvat and to this day Teddy Bluger just told you there's culture issues no leaders well you traded one of your best culture guys in Bo Horvat and where are you today your head is in the clouds right now like you know no not you're as far as it's always in the clouds it's

24:33looking at the body language here you are so proud of yourself right now pick I stand corrected it was obvious you traded your captain he was a leader he was the leader right yeah okay it was it was beyond just him it was the impact he had on the Rubo's the buffer he provided for Pederson it was not putting Quinn in a situation you know to where the scene that he wasn't necessarily comfortable with like there was a lot of trickle down effect Bo Horvat put everybody in their right roles and made everybody better top to bottom you could carry a message to a coach he was way better in the community than that current group is now all it meant to be a connect Bo Horvat was in that line of sedans and Nazlin and Lyndon he was that guy and they passed up on him they moved on they made the wrong decision then and it's more than just what we see on the ice you can't justify it with 103 point season from JT Miller the following year two years later there is more to it they were wrong and they still are paying the price for that bad decision yeah there should be a 30 30 done on it uh Horvat leaving town okay listen

25:36we're gonna get to 34 30 30 for 30 there should be a 30 for 30 on how Horvat left he didn't think there should be a 30 for 30 on how farhan was bang on about that trade it was an obvious comment it wasn't a I he might have been the only one we said it on the air how could you do I don't think I did no how can you trade Horvat he was a quality human being I'm not gonna I'm not gonna question you because I question farhan and I was completely wrong and and the worst part of the Horvat deal is he wanted to stay and they told him that summer we're gonna pick you and then they went against and yeah like I said it was right to the end and juvenile emotional decision and like here's the ultimate character indicator for Bo Horvat okay think about that season the first half of the season before the trade this guy put up points on fire all the distraction filed the BS behind them with that weighing over him you know like look and look and couldn't use this year at the start of the year he was not the same player with all the drama around him and even though internally they were talking trades

26:39externally we weren't necessarily doing that right we were still talking about the fantasy notion that he might have extended but it affected him it affects everybody it didn't affect Bo he played his best with all of that swirling around him that tells you everything you need to know about Bo Horvat all right this is let's get off a bowl let's talk about a guy that passed away this week who meant a lot to the city of Vancouver and the province of British Columbia Jim Robson and we've had a tough time this week because we were the guys that grew up with him listening to him on transistor radio in the 80s when there was no TV it was just radio but really tough week and a quality gentleman gentlemen Jim yeah looking and so many great words have been said and I don't know that I can say them any greater but I lay I was I was one of that guys you know I'm 57 and I used to go to bed I never transistors to radio we had a we had an old stereo and I put it in my room it was kind of larger and obnoxious I kind of use the top of it as a shelf but I used to turn it on like volume like 0.5 out of 10

27:45just so my parents couldn't hear upstairs they're in the other rooms and I just I would listen right and the games back then started at 8 o'clock right so the games would go always right I mean you'd see more fights you'd see more delays like the games weren't as tightly packaged as they are now and so I would listen and I would stay up and he was the voice of my youth just like he was for all of you and as Jim got older you know and I got to know when I first got into the industry um just such a gracious human being and then you know last time I saw him was about a year ago I got a picture taken with with him and Tommy Larshight at a BC sports hall of fame event and every time you saw him you know he would tell you oh I watched you do this and I watched you do that he still pays attention to everything that was going on and when when he talked to you and said something it was always nice he was always complimented and it just made you feel 10 feet tall right like if there was anybody else you know you'd say okay great thanks for that right because you know you feel like they might be out of touch or you feel that you know like

28:45the world has changed so much since then like Jim Robson transcended all of it and for all of us everybody that was around of our vintage um I'm sure it was a really hard day like I shed some tears that night it was um just so many memories that had brought back and just listening to the calls again of Greg Adams and and Burre against Calgary and you know you know he'll play he'll play on fractures and just to hear those calls again uh in that voice as much as we did like it God it hurt it hurt a lot you've done play by play in your career uh football hockey it doesn't matter does it it's a difficult job does it make you have more respect for someone like uh Jim who did such a fabulous job with it yeah well I look I've never done hockey uh done football but I I will just tell you that he made me feel a certain way and and that's the respect and I think you hope and it's a different medium now and there's so many other you know things that that they're grabbing at your attention so many people watch games when they're on a device and you watched

29:46a radio and you closed your eyes and you paid attention you're listening to radio not watch you listen to the radio you closed your eyes and you paid attention to every word the hospital patients the shutdowns everything and he made you feel a certain way you know and mm-hmm just a thought just a thought of a little farhan watching his radio I like to look at it I probably stared at it yeah you know there were times when I would watch the hockey night in Canada broadcast but I would turn the volume down because they weren't showing the cast and I would listen to the kid up game yes right I'd listen to the connect game on radio and then eventually you just turn the TV off because you wanted your attention and focus to be there and um amazing amazing then all right uh farhan you mentioned feeling ten foot tall imagine at the start of this interview you felt ten foot tall you're again proven right I apologize who am I to doubt you you're banging exactly just that's Lisa she'll tell you yeah long story all right farhan thanks okay by the way uh the the the sea ox very quickly just your take away

30:48from super what Ryan's getting mad at me were over time but very quickly you know what just I saw it coming and truly not like nobody this is not nobody picked the sea ox before the season I did not pick them I'm saying as the playoffs went you could see what they were building captain obvious you could captain obvious sure but like before the year I didn't write them off like I was talking about them being a legitimate contender I didn't pick them to win it I picked Kansas City to win it at the start of the year but I really did feel they were a legitimate shot to get out of the NFC but the division was so tough right so I still had the Rams coming out but you know this is a team that won ten games a year ago right a year they didn't miss the playoffs first year under a coach and you could see what they were building defensively and as the season progressed yeah the Rams figured them out no doubt about it but nobody else did right I'm even the the one good game Tampa had against and they were missing four starters defensively but you could see how they were building that defense how they were able to get pressure would just four guys consistently the athleticism they had in the back end the physicality that they were playing with

31:52and then I you know I'm down there a lot right I mean I was at every game covering them I was in the locker room I spent time down there you know various times midweek and you could see that their culture was exceptional right like that was a group that really really believed in one another the way they rallied around Sam Darnold all of it you know you you could just see it building into something special see if they can can sustain it third youngest roster in the league but I fully expected them to have a very good season I'm not going to tell you again at the beginning of the year that I picked I had the chiefs over the Rams I'll tell you that right now okay but it was pretty impressive the way you can tell the future I'm surprised you're not retired I know I need a car I need a car neck hat another that's another reference you'll have to explain Donnie yeah exactly I don't know if I have enough time far ahead thanks for this all the best and God ain't God bless Jim Robson thanks thanks Frank yeah I appreciate it for hand introduced me to my wife way back when yeah so there you go he got that right too okay we'll

33:55Dog pole question sleep sip stock up on one legendary spot the dog come sit and stay at the dog Waddling today Ryan get her up the Waddling Dog pole question how do you feel about Bohrvast's performance today for team candidates 72% say hey happy is a Canadian but pain as a conax fan is at 28% over 300 votes already we posted it a little bit late today but Bohrvast scored a Bohrvast at the far hand got me you know you have to stop drinking he's got a shirt calling that guy captain obvious with his comments but anyways listen but he was right though I don't everybody's right about the Super Bowl everybody said trading Bohrvast was a bad idea you have a tree no no no any time you trade a captain it's not a good idea is it a good idea the culture of the hockey club went downhill after Bohrvast left he was a great community guy yes it was great in the dress yes but you didn't say that at the time he didn't want to go he didn't want

34:56to go the team told them we're going to pick you over Miller and then they did the complete opposite that's captain obvious stuff he's not saying anything that's special everybody said that giving up on a guy like Bohrvast is not good far hand it maybe you did I don't remember that I did not everybody said that who no way who said trading Bohrvast was a good idea especially well there was a cap consideration as well at the time for not mistake they paid they paid GT ran out of money but he was scoring at a huge clip before his trade it was it was his season hasn't he was on his pace he was on pace for 40 45 goals when they traded him it wasn't a great idea you absolutely right but Rick the argument isn't that in hindsight yeah wasn't a great deal philipronic has been good I'd still rather have Bohrvast instead of him yeah look what happened today you didn't say that oh everybody said it Brian help me out I'm going through his history right now I don't see I didn't tweet it but I said he said it to yourself

36:01trading a guy who wanted to be here was it's not a good idea he was good in the community good in the dress room wanted to be here one is a retirees but there's no way everybody said no way the GT Miller at the time you know released better center of the time people and he got to keep these guys a lot of people said that they did the big point is the one far end made too he was also that link the last link to the Sadeen twins now Lyndon Nazlin Sadeen's Horvat you trade that guy that's gone and then here comes Quidditch's captain how'd that go far end out a good day apparently picked a seal excuse well you're right if I'm him should we buy a lot of tickets every damn day you hope the boss is a T.O. Center watching right now I'm I'm sure they are hey okay so five nothing Canada overchats you a team Canada men's hockey over Chatsia today seems course the women yeah the women's fins earlier today bouncing back from that five nothing lots against everything's five nothing yeah far ahead five nothing against us

37:04today a team Canada the women's hockey over the fins today Marie Philippe plan not playing in that game as well you know he got injured in the early in the USA game but some negative news for team Canada in that five nothing went Josh Morris he Rick he left in the second period Don the Winnipeg Jets defenseman he's so good for Canada second period he left shape theodore was the seventh defenseman so he slid into his spot yeah Morris he did not return and and one thing we want to tell you you cannot add if you're an Olympic hockey team if you have injuries I don't care for you down a four defenseman rosters are set before the tournament you cannot add because as soon as Morris he went down I'm thinking hey get the kid from New York and Matthew Schafer on a plane to Italy right now but you you can't add I'm sorry but Canada can be down to four defenseman well they've got Travis Sanheim as well he didn't that's why you're allowed to carry eight but let's hope Morris he comes back he's such a huge part and Morris he you remember the

38:08four nations you got sick couldn't play in the gold medal game he's such a great defenseman and if you let's hope he's back in the tournament on that second pairing no update post game John Cooper did say that apparently he tried to come back but couldn't go this is the other piece like Marie Philippe pull in yeah another day against the America yeah this is the other piece from Cooper as some column that was kind of funny post game as for Bennington he joked he decided he was starting tonight probably three hundred and fifty eight days ago these are Cooper's works so there was never any debate about who was going to be the starting gold tender for Canada today today at least and it wasn't like again I said this in the first segment it wasn't like he had you know like the the Italians yesterday against the Swedes 10 11 shots on goal yeah he was tested in that game hey crackle was good too you know he was in that on that second pairing with Morris he Morris he goes down he comes the door I mean he's dark from from around here

39:08a darn good defenseman member of the theater didn't play in the in the four nations got hurt all the girl needed to play the little mainland bread to the show and Bennington made the great save off for David camp for the connox with two minutes to go remember he was on and it was zero zero and in about a minute later Canada scored so late in the game late late late for first period yeah for late in the first period he made the great save off David camp who thought he had a goal you predicted that I think much like you did yeah I just uh who do the outcome of the bullhorn that trade yeah we have a quote from Horvat as well this goes show the culture and all that with him oh wow this is Luke Fox from sports net bullhorn that I fill up water bottles to be here this is the guy that connects traded right you claim you said was mistake which is captain obvious stuff but this is the guy that connects traded oh my god I fill up water bottles to be here he played nine fifty eight and this is the guy they traded I'd fill up water bottles to be here he's just a great Canadian kid and he was a captain he wanted to be here it was and great culture guy

40:09but no we're gonna move him we're gonna move him and then we're gonna trade the guy we kept a year and a half later yeah and then and get no sediment and reward somebody else with a big contract arguably the worst in economics history here here's the thing uh two with bullhorn that is you talk about improving your game we talked about how early in his career people question skating he clearly and I'm I'm sure given yeah what we just saw there it's just an indication of the character yes he's worked on it uh time and time again he keeps getting better like like honestly like bullhorn that was somewhat of a surprise selection the team can't he did not look at a place today he gets the third goal and assist from Brad Martian to make it uh three nothing Canada wins five nothing they play the swiss tomorrow right it's swiss tomorrow yeah that that's another big game up against swiss wow roman you see in the Swiss really good energy there you can put it on the middle say about the Swiss Ryan good cheese

41:09uh alps yeah and and the Chechi had the first line to the you mentioned netches but pastor and acc hurt all the time we're talking about the Swiss yeah I'm just telling you I'm giving you credit the the the Chechi had a great first line very comparable to Canada's first line yeah after that it wasn't I thought natious was and I said said this in the they weren't strong up the middle of the opening segment I thought he really stood out you know I mean five nothing it's tough to stand out and then that leads to the other rumors we heard earlier yeah about uh him possibly joining the connox I've got some business to do February 19th John Shannon is going to join us on the job there February 19th Abel auctions will sell all equipment from a Langley sheet metal company Rick oh February 20th the contents of a massive Victoria glass company including metal shop and fleet of 12 delivery trucks 12 delivery trucks oh get yourself a pickup there yep and February word I sound Canadian and I'm gonna pick up there and February 21st Abel auctions will sell a warehouse of home furnishings in port go quit them hold on a sec the yellow uh lazy boy

42:15there is that lazy boy I'm not sure but it sure looks comfortable that takes me back to the 80s yeah that takes me I don't know if I want a yellow sorry but that looks comfy that that that is your it does sit that watch television all day long that's a go it sounded like you're on one of those but I like that I like that that is one hell of a uh a comfortable look at well we'll contact the people and able to see what they can do can we get that over here I you're gonna do the show in that thing I went about doing the show in that but it would be nice just before the show we can all take turns sitting in that I'm good I'm good yeah we could stack like the leech yeah use that use that as a loose in Italy who decided on the two-person loose by the way what's wrong with the two-person loose I just know it's just what's wrong with it two people stacked on each other is like they're not on they're one behind each other they're on top of each other okay

43:16you're thinking of the boss like the boss let I get the loose I watch I know you don't I watch I watch the one thing they don't do it on a lazy boy but those guys need skill too don't think oh no no I'm not I'm not I'm not discounting this skill can I just say that it's it's an on visual yes and they use the word on there could be other ones I I could use it's an on visual but also like it's a dangerous sport oh you're down the track I'm not really sure yeah but when you see them go on the turn and then they start to bobble a little it's so scary man five minutes on the two-man loose February okay I'm already I'm totally rattled now that's it we're good yeah John Shannon top of the hour forehand joined us earlier I mean forehand and John in a two-man loose representing all right there in Italy yeah perfect uh John Shannon top of the hour Ryan

44:20here's a three-man loose next Johnny Dulley the team on check the Vancouver Gi is 25th anniversary season continues at the LEC enjoy a great night out with family and friends as you watch the G-Men develop the next NHL stars check out Islanders drop pick Birkwood in the crease and 2026 NHL draft eligible players Ryan Lynn and Mathis Preston grab single-game tickets for less than $25 a seat or group tickets for as low as $20 per seat in quantities of eight or more visit the Vancouver Giants dot com slash tickets to grab yours now okay in my excitement talking about the two-man loose which uh morphed into the three-man I forgot to finish the Abel auctions we know oh you know really they are our title sponsor absolutely so yeah for information on the auctions we talked about or any auction that Abel is involved in uh go to Abel auctions dot c a to get your warehouse emptied and sold email sales

45:23at Abel auctions dot c a sales at able auctions dot c a big ride okay so this week we've obviously had some things going on we haven't been able to show as many photos as we would like I want to show this one this is a holdover from Super Bowl Sunday how about this this is shelly and bill and from comox right okay they were in cancun watching the big game they've got the bucket hat they've got the regular dnd hat this one uh shelly said her husband's got some nice uh golf shirts or Hawaiian shirts sorry Hawaiian shirts but none as sexy as ricks he is the master on Fridays apparently this is why shelly and bill from the comox and they're in cancun what a great photo well let me just say this to uh bill and shelly yeah that if you want a really sexy Hawaiian shirt all you have to do is uh cross the border and support that American economy uh you do we're asked where you get your Hawaiian shirts right don't get my Hawaiian shirts there I got most Hawaiian shirts from Waikiki that Waikiki which is in the USA okay but if you're not going to buy some you wore your new crown one last Friday for

46:29thanks to Rick well that's Canadian Derek Paul Rick yeah but anyways a great photo there in cancun yeah thanks to shelly and bill we'll do more later on the show all right uh I want to talk about the white caps now they made some news yesterday new jersey how about this so you'll see it on the left is their coastal kit they're calling it okay so it's the blue jersey the navy blue jersey this is the this is the bio of the jersey the coastal jersey reflects Vancouver's place between oceans and mountains in a deep sea navy blue the base color represents the Pacific Ocean along the collar and cuffs of rising peak pattern nods to the mountains together they tell the story of the club in city that live between the elements there you go we're city that's wow that's a good point they might have to rebrand after that so they also made some other news this was yesterday they unveiled the jersey for the first time so again left is the navy the white on the right which it had good look cleaner while of course Thomas Mueller their model but they did also announce this guys their home opener sneaking up on everyone

47:33shattered a February the 21st is the home opener back home today from Spain yeah yeah from the camels europe so but they did announce 21,000 tickets sold yeah for that home opener so you're pushing almost sold out a lower bowl I think it's like 24,000 lower bowl cell but this is the other interesting part that they put in their pressure these today guys more than 3,200 new season ticket members for this season for the bank of a white caps 3,200 they have 14,000 total season ticket members now at this point for the bank of a white caps so and good some positive news from that yeah yeah the uniforms look nice yeah as well and you expect you'd expect a bump after last season yeah why Mueller full year with Mueller yeah and Axel said look at there's going to be a bunch of little things that have to take place here to get things in a better place revenue wise 3,200 new season ticket members that's going to help inflated crowds for every game

48:34that's going to help so we'll see where things go long-term with BC place and all that which is kind of died down by the way that all that stadium talk is died down after last week now the new jersey that I had some revenue so some positive things out of the like I said you mentioned it Donnie back home now today I hope they work things out oh yeah absolutely as I state the obvious absolutely we're all hoping they stay here long term but there's work to do yep no doubt no down okay that's it for me up next our good pal co-host of 100% hockey along with Darren Millard he's on the program next John Shannon Stoney know that the team on check hey everyone it's Donnie and Donnie and we're looking to partner with your company we have several packages and price points to fit your budget and spread the word about your company on the show in our podcast and on social media we'd love to get involved with your company called 250 880 2282 or email advertise at checkmedia.ca

49:43Thursday and all of today's guests including John Shannon standing by I brought you by the Vancouver Giants who are celebrating their 25th anniversary season tomorrow night Giants take on the Penticton Vs at the Langley Advanced Center Puck Robbers at 7 on Monday the Giants face off against Seattle in a family day matinee drop is our Puck Drop is at 2 p.m. drop in also don't forget to get your tickets now for the W HL Top Prospects game happening next Wednesday February 18th at the LEC time is flying visit Vancouver Giants.com for details and ticket info canada over Tetsuya 5 nothing over in Italy as the men's Olympic hockey tournament ice hockey tournament begins for team canada here to talk about that and more from the 100 percent hockey podcast 100 percent canucks John Shannon how are you sir I'm good daddy don't call it ice hockey I know it was it was tongue in cheek it was trying to drive me crazy yeah I always

50:51worried when Seattle got its NHL franchise and you'd watch the odd sports cast depending on who was doing it and they'd refer to NHL highlights as ice hockey highlights would it ever work in Seattle it's kind of like how now we see our American friends talk we always talk about New York New York and then they always talk about Toronto Canada yeah yeah yeah yeah what is that yeah Vancouver Canada you know that's not think it's thank or BC come on yeah or just or just Vancouver or just Toronto okay five nothing what would you take away surgical you know they they were there were three lines right off the hop that I thought were were really good I thought Connor's line was was great Sid's line was really good you know the one line that struggled a little bit early on was then Nate McKinnon's and yet they they seem to get their act together and and we're

51:52we're very good as well so I if we can continue to play this way then I feel very good Jordan Bennington was yeah you know I expected him to start and it's funny John Cooper said after the game he he knew a year ago that Bennington was going to start I think we all knew that and it's funny the the amount of knowledge that the players had about playing together from four nations paid off the guys that got off the slow starts were the newbies Tom Wilson didn't have a great first period but then you know got his engine revving Nick Suzuki got off to a very slow start first two periods he was he was actually a little too slow but by the end of the game he was up at that speed so there's a lot to be said for institutional knowledge of playing together in that situation and another newbie who did just fine the opening goal 17 over 17 minutes of

52:52of ice time for Macklin celebrating actually John he's yeah I'm safe and saying he looked he looked just fine at 19 yeah no he did yeah he's he's a great athlete he's obviously got a great deal of presence and oh there's a lot to be said for them putting them on the world championship team last May and in the dressing room sat between McKinnon and Crosby so again it it goes back to a little bit of familiarity but we've all seen him play we've seen him play against the Canucks this year and he has a dimension and a presence of a 29 year old not an 18 year old John awfully tough week we lost a legend in British Columbia Jim Robson and we know you knew him well and going back decades boy you know and Donnie and I 70's 80's listen to him on the radio it was a tough one for the people of British Columbia to deal with this week with Jim's

53:57passing you're right but I quite frankly Rick I think Canada lost a great voice not just British Columbia Jim Robson did do a lot of great national coverage including my first Stanley Cup finalist producer was Jim Robson's great call of Bob Nistrum's overtime goal in May of 1980 simple effective new exactly what he was doing all the time a meticulous perfectionist he used to joke about himself that he was the president of the Del Men's Club and he was just a a great person to work with two two quick stories if I may yeah of course I was doing I was doing an afternoon game in Washington DC at the old cap center and we were out the night before I know you find that hard to believe we were out the night before we ran into the guys that were working for NBC doing college basketball Dick Enberg and

55:00Alan McGuire and we we invited them to join our table they came over and we we had told some great stories and I told Enberg that I was from British Columbia I loved listening to him on the radio when I was a kid and he said you know what I used to do the Los Angeles blades of the old western leak and the play by play guy in Vancouver that Jim Robson was the nicest person yeah I've ever met in the business and so right to me that was a a mark of someone as great as Enberg and you guys I think would be familiar with Dick's work of course he raved about Jim Robson as a person and as a broadcaster and that that gave a lot of a great deal of pride the other one went from a pure technical perspective was it when you produced games with Jim Robson and you guys you guys wear headsets and and we all as announcers wear IFBs in our ear but most of the time you only

56:04talk to your announcers sporadically well Jim wanted the key open to himself all the time so he could hear all the noise and all the buffoonery going on in the TV mobile through the game and I I I did my first game with him in 1978 and the the script assistant beside me turned and said John Jim wants your key open I says I can't leave my key open I yell a lot I swear I do lots of things he says oh no Jim likes to hear that really and so yet so I left the key open and after the game I said Jimmy really liked that he says oh yeah it gives me energy it gives me energy to feel that other people are doing this with me I thought that was fascinating when he moved to tv he he tried to to be like a guy like Ray Scott who was the famous announcer for CBS for NFL football you know when the Packers are winning Super Bowls you know star

57:07back to pass to Max McGee so Jim his first two years as play by play for the connects tried to be a little less wordy on television and it wasn't very good and he reverted back to his old style of doing just pure play I play and he was brilliant and that's what I remember with Jim he and I worked hundreds of games together I don't think he ever believed that he did a perfect game there was always one mistake that he said you know you know you know whether it was a misidentifying one player over 60 minutes or whatever it was he was such a perfectionist then he was a great guy to have around and as you guys both know had such a great sense of humor oh it was so much fun to be around and and one of my greatest memories of the first final I did was Dan Kelly who was doing the games in Philadelphia for hockey night and Jim was doing the games on Long Island for

58:08hockey night and I was producing the games on Long Island but I drove them back and forth between Philly and Long Island and all we did was tell stories and Robson and Kelly told story and after story after story about their their life in the business and Jim was a brilliant storyteller and there is just as a little bit of irony is that the day that Jim passed away was the 37 years to the day that Dan Kelly passed away really I saw that stat on radio you have to pay to paint a picture because we can't see the game nobody excelled more at painting a picture like he did he made you feel like you were in the rink watching it was just one of the greatest skills ever and what he did Rick he did it in his regular voice there was no change in his timber there was no becoming Ted Baxter yeah it was it was you know Jim Robson from Maple Ridge you

59:11know it was that's all it was it was just Jimmy from Caristale you know he was he was just the regular guy and so the voice you heard on the air was the voice you heard at the breakfast table and that's an art to be able to do that and be conversational in our business because we all think we should talk like an announcer and but he was able to do it I tweeted out that he was after my friend Dave Hodges had some brilliant words on social media about him I tweeted out the gyms on Mount Rushmore for me yeah and he would be joining Galivan Kelly and Cole on Mount Rushmore for me yeah I take it you very quickly John did you did you listen to him as a kid I mean and growing up on Oliver on WX WX on the Western yeah not in the NHL in the Western league you know and with you know those days in the Okinawa you prayed that the clouds were

1:00:12in about a thousand feet because the radio signals were a little better from the from the coast to the valley if there was it was overcast oh yeah no but the two the two Western league championships stunning in in in in 68 and 69 and 70 with Dawn Cherry but Dawn Cherry played on the 69 team yeah wow it was it was those were those were to me those were as important dates for me as a as a fan as the connox getting to the NHL and Jim was a big big part of that yeah yeah we could go on and on John great stuff that thanks so much for this and go canner to go cheers boys and Swiss will be tough yeah yeah absolutely yeah tomorrow thanks John appreciate John Shannon 100% hockey podcast 100% connox I hadn't heard that story before about him wanting his headset open as IFB open and so we could hear what was going

1:01:13on at the controller room people who aren't in the business we're wearing headsets oftentimes you wear what's well called an earpiece and one of the most confusing you know this discombobulating things you can go through as a new broadcasters when you're doing play by play or even just a sports cast especially if the controller room isn't right next to you is to hear have somebody yelling instructions to you not yelling oftentimes they do but giving instructions to you as you're talking yes exactly and for for Jim to want to hear that confusion because sometimes it can be a confusing it's wanting him to hear what's going on work wise in behind the scenes while he was doing play by play that's just the amazing it gave him energy I'll put that our thanks again to John Shannon a break will update the pull question next canner to overchat you five nothing donny and dolly the team check donny and dolly the team is supported by abel auctions dot c a closing your business we can help

1:03:17for Canada over the Italians pull question Rick just that look like him yes bow does he have mustache last time i checked well that Derek run that again put that up again oh yeah you are right on that looks like every other every bobble head looks the same none of them this that's not boble that looks not kind of agree with Rick I don't if he's had that type of facial hair I don't know if he's had facial hair you know my take on on on bobble heads they should go this is creepy let's get this on yeah it really that's that's not bold it's bad enough looking at us get this get this out of here well he doesn't have a mustache no my take on a bobble heads make them cartoony exaggerate the features they all look the same well they're exaggerating the size of his head so there is that yeah it is a bobble head right see that would be a problem if they made one for you I know they couldn't get a big enough wouldn't be possible that that that's not bold yeah I kind of agree with you Rick you know as we let that go and get the walling gun pull question get it up right get it up let's go the

1:04:20walling dog pull question how do you feel about bullhorn best performers today for team Canada look at this happy as a Canadian 72% but by like a bobble head of you somehow include a throat bubble I don't know how did you hear one right now you for a second you had one at 28% say pain is it connects fan 468 votes already it's starting to hop and bop on a Thursday morning he said nine minutes of of ice time for bull a nine fifty four uh killed penalties close to ten great in the face of circle scored the beautiful goal beat to filiparonic to the middle of the ice a very nice goal today by bullhorn that of course those two connected trade wise trade wise horn that's absolutely uh hornback digging in that connect knife even even deeper I Pederson was okay yesterday uh third parody was yeah he looked good that Pederson yesterday against Italy as we expected and you know in a in a way it was it was was yeah we're 13 minutes of ice time 30 minutes zero points he's on the plus side I want to say plus two probably should

1:05:23have this down in my my nose but it was in a way clutch time because the Italians were time they were tied to two two after two absolutely and uh the Italian gold tender was great who's the second one pick of the the anaheim duck said donnie and speaking of that nothing wrong with just all today despite the five goals yeah for cha cha against against canada and in in case you just tune in and you weren't watching the team canada game Josh Morrissey right just more she left in the first period uh donnie and he did not return and uh you canada cannot call up any more players yeah so you can't bring up another defenseman so they were dressing are they addressed seven to seven or so theater ended up playing on that I believe in that second pairing with uh paraco Travis sanheim did not dress so if uh Josh Morrissey can't go uh in goes Travis sanheim and that's where you like the extra bodies at the Olympic roster that's where today you like that well paid off and they can dress up 20 skaters and exactly like I say that was uh

1:06:25always I never I never liked that in hockey when you're you know this is we're talking minor hockey uh beer league you know you want you want you know to get to get into that rhythm as a player and as a coach maybe not so many so so many choices but it worked out for them uh today okay do we we got time to run this run the sea ox parade this is a scene uh from maybe you could set it up Ryan actually well the parade yesterday happening in Seattle they started a million people they started at lumen field so they had a stage at lumen uh all the players gathered there they did some speeches the takeaway speech oh you've got this yeah the takeaway speech involved Ernest Jones who was actually kind of quiet in the super bowl despite having a very very good season yeah and he isn't a spoken person and he was very outspoken yesterday when he took to the mic okay I'ma I'ma keep it a book I'm probably the last person they should have gave the mic to

1:07:30but we for the turn up man first off I want to say shout out to Jody Allen shout out to John Snyder for making this all possible man shout out to coach Mike Madonna for helping us get to this point man but also shout out to these bad ass to play this game the right way not only do we have the best defense in the world we got the best team in the world and quite frankly if you got anything to say for my quarterback you got anything to say for my defense you got anything to say for my whole life and you got anything to say by the city of Seattle I got two words for you oh yeah and I just realized something there was some there were some comments in the background there that probably shouldn't have leaped out as well yeah I don't know if everybody picked those up you and I Ryan have the same take on this when it comes to these parade speeches they often get

1:08:37out of hand and I'm just wondering if if people are getting a little tired of that I mean look I admire it we talk about energy and the enthusiasm people expect that sort of thing but is it again a little getting a little cliche now a lot of them are are drinking who was the guy in Vegas when Vegas when Carlson Carlson he was drunk that's the gold standard but yeah and so these guys are drinking they're parting they've been in a 24 40 at our party mode I can see it I mean I can see it hi again I just would like to see something different I'll just go I'll go old man on it look we're dissensitized to everything none of those words are going to hurt my feelings I understand the kid now yeah I understand the state they're in I would be two partying like you've won a championship it's the best day of your life for a lot of these guys I'm not blaming them for a second but the way we're just turning a blind eye these organizations just let these guys say what they want now they grab the mic it's all curse-laden speeches and again I get it they're

1:09:37overjoyed with happiness but me as a dad I want to have max a hundred miles from any of these parades because of this stuff they skipped out of school for yeah it's a 60,000 I think they got something like that like it's just I just think it's gone we're gone a little too like again organizations allowing these are not allowed with William Carlson you shouldn't have him stay Carlson was pickles it was it was it was funny it was a little bit different than that that that seemed a little more planned right on his part loosely yeah because because again it's now it's become okay and it's not an NFL thing I want to see something a little I don't know what it would be but just something other than telling you know your critics to f off or what I know remember the Panthers did that remember the Bennett got to the mic and he did the same thing they all they'll do it they air the grievances I just think we got to clean it up a little bit it's getting a little too out of control and again I know it's not heard in my video okay let me ask you this though and I'm more on I think we're we're on the same side but

1:10:38maybe for different reasons like you don't like it as a parent I just don't like it from somebody that I want to see something a little more different a little creative but if the connects I don't know why I mean bothering with this but if the connects had a Stanley Cup parade and somebody didn't act like that there would be a large percentage of the population that would be upset but he didn't act like that be disappointed yeah like I say I just I just don't think the Donnie and Dolly and all the media members out there who imagine Patterson yeah who doubted us yeah I mean like it and again I know this alcohol factored all that alcohol they just run the super bowl like I say we just kind of it just become accepted that these guys do it and organizations are just allowing them to do it and everyone laughs and everything so that's fine but people say what would you do do you do not you do away with parades kind of going to get you do do with parades don't allow the players to drink no don't allow the players to speak because you know what they're going to do they're going to do this yeah they're going to this is what they're going to do

1:11:39the guy who's least likely to act like they're still going to do it then it's boring they're still going to do it they're all good they're all because they're they're trying to make a point and again it's become except the reaction in the crowd yeah I know nobody's offended I'm fine with that I just like I said we just kind of lost this way it's just like it's fine it's accepted hey you no problem you would like to see something different but for different reasons I talked about that earlier yeah I mean I don't know like some kids back to school today and calls his friend and MF or how are you going to get mad well no but seriously how are you going to get mad at the kid I just don't already I just saw my favorite player do it and everyone laughed and it was fine and look the sea ox seem to think it's a no right the kids just swear now anyways they don't just see him this way I know I know I know I'm sending the media and I know but it just I we just gone I just like to see some different well yeah I don't know what let me think about it they had an amazing day by the way too I got to say that was 10 on the Super Bowl no weather weather 10 yeah

1:15:43off the seemingly impossible recently climbing to the top of the one thousand six hundred and sixty seven foot Taipei one-on-one skyscraper back on january twenty-fifth without robsrick or protective gear Alex Honald is forty from Sacramento he needed just over ninety minutes to get to the top of the tower one of the world's tallest as part of a deal with Netflix with broadcast the skyscraper live event with a seven second delay by the way which is probably probably a good idea no stranger to high profile deftifying climbs usually up cliffs without an audience which wasn't the case here here Honald's climb was broadcast live on Netflix I said a seven second delay it was actually a ten second delay there's also a large live audience there you imagine asked how much he was paid to pull off the stunt Honald says it's an embarrassing amount apparently was less than a million dollars Alex is the first climber to ascend Taipei one-on-one but he is

1:16:44the first to do so without robs or protective gear I don't know what the point would be and Seinfeld does a bit on this but the point of the helmet when you're doing something like this I'm not I'm not really sure a protective gear but he doesn't have a helmet on yeah that's what I'm saying oh it's saying they know protective gear if you had a helmet on it I don't know what that's doing for you but it's just crazy stuff isn't it yeah and I'm scared of heights I couldn't do the suspension bridge in North Bend I have trouble with stairs in my home you could have do the suspension I went about 10 feet in I can well know a lot of people like that yeah with the suspension I can't do suspension bridge I went 10 feet in came back I've seen that look at this this is just this guy's not this guy's nuts but you know yeah what do they say nerves a steel I nervous everything of steel I've steel like I mean from what I know yeah you know
