The case stems from the September 2024 attack at Appalachia High School in Winder, where two students and two teachers lost their lives. Prosecutors argued Gray enabled his 14-year-old son, Colt, by gifting him the rifle about eight and a half months before the rampage. They pointed to ignored warning signs, including the boy's school troubles, violent outbursts at home, and fixation on past shooters. Meanwhile, family testimony painted a picture of a troubled home. Gray's estranged wife said she begged him to secure the guns and get their son counseling, but he resisted. On the stand, Gray admitted he could have done more to help his son.
