Falling Tree Kills A Driver On GW Parkway

0:00So pretty often, I'll get asked the question, what do you do after your show at 10? And usually I'll say whatever I want to try to take a nap, sure, try the home, have some lunch, do nothing, but every once in a while we do have show obligations. Yeah. And yesterday I had a meeting in Leesburg, Virginia, and cakes had a little jab, as I was leaving, he's like, good luck driving to Leesburg. But I went out to Michelle Radley Chevrolet. Yeah, by the way, how bad was the weather out the toll road around around 10, 30? It was snowing, I don't believe it. Just an absurd weather flip in 24 hours yesterday. Well, we all adore it. And then it was sunny at five o'clock. Yeah, but I'm going to be working with Michelle Radley Chevrolet, and I met with Michelle, Paul, and Bobby, and it was great deal. I got new gear, it's going to be challenging. I even told them they had five shirts lined up,

1:01because they've got a bunch of dealerships, and I'm going to be doing the Michelle Radley Chevrolet in Leesburg, but they've got spots in different parts of Virginia and different cars. And I was like, that's a challenge for me, because now I've got to get rid of five shirts. I'm a one-out guy. That's right, that was easy for you. You got to get rid of them. You got to roll them out. Yeah, but I don't usually get five at a time. Yeah, now it's a lot bigger decisions. But believe me, my gear's terrible. You've seen it, so shout out to Michelle Radley Chevrolet, and it's right next to our Roy Rogers. And we just had a discussion about fast food and our go-tos, and I felt like I should get off my normal go-tos at Roy Rogers to go with one of their famous burgers, but I just don't think I ever get it. So when I go to Roy Rogers, typically I get chicken, okay, solid, hamburger, or I'll get their roast beef. Another great Roy Rogers option. Right, those are my two go-tos. And you can't get at every fast food establishment.

2:02Right. You can't always grab a roast beef sandwich. Right, yeah. But I opted for, because when we were in this meeting, and it was like an hour and a half, and he was talking and schmoozing. That's a long one. I said it's a 100% lock on this Roy Rogers. Right after I'm out of here and picking up some food. And I intended to get chicken, but somebody mentioned the double R burger. Yup. Double R bar burger, I believe, is a proper name. I never get that. Yeah, and you crushed it. It's silly. You know what? Haven't had one of those in a long time. And it's just basically a cheeseburger with ham on it, right? Oh, that's right. It does have like a slice of it. That's the difference. Yeah, some folded over ham on top. Like when I looked at the texture, I've never ordered the double R burger. It just looked like a cheeseburger. And I was like, I get it, double R Roy Rogers. Am I throwing an extra bar in there? It's a double R bar burger. It might be. It makes it look good. Double R bar burger. It is. It's just a double R burger because Roy Rogers is a double R.

3:04That's what I thought it was. Double R bar. You're calling it a double R bar. I was a, what did the bar come from? I don't know. Maybe I'll, maybe I've been wrong all these years. You have to Bob goo that one. I thought it was a staple. It's definitely a bar. The double R bar burger. It is. Yeah, I thought I was right. You had me second guessing my feeble old brain. Well, look, it's a signature item. Yeah. And I've never had it. And it actually is really, really good. And I would just say, I don't know how to describe it. It's like a ham on top. Of course, it's good. It was good. It's so good. Here's one to throw your way. We can, we can play the game. I got the double R burger. Oh, double R bar burger. I got onion rings. Oh, great. So I've seen it. More fast food places should offer onion rings. As an option, they don't ever get your drink, get the drink with it. Because I got the combo. Yeah. And then I got a chocolate milkshake, because they actually have excellent milkshakes. How much did I pay for lunch?

4:04Oh, how much was it? Where are you? 15. All right. So you got a combo. By the way, sat in there before I drove. That's your move. That's your move. So the bird. I don't need to enjoy it. I don't need onion rings all over my car. I mean, you're so far away from home. You might as well sit down and enjoy that. Yeah. That you enjoy your bounty. I'm going to say the combo probably cost you $14 and then a milkshake. That's another five with tax. Your meal came to $19 and 65 cents is my guess. You want to venture gas, Jason? I said 15 cakes is pretty much all over it. I think it was 18 in change. Okay. So basically $19 overshot by a bit, but you know what? It was worth. It was really good. Of course, it was worth it. It may be a problem because I love their milkshake so much. And I'm sure I'm going to head out there a bunch, I'm going to be trying their tacos and the traverse. I told them I'm interested in the electric, so I'm going to buy something in the next couple of weeks from there and flip my tell you ride for possibly a Tahoe, but the traverse

5:07a little smaller. And then I might flip the other car that we have to go electric because cakes, when we were leaving and he threw in the jab by driving Leesburg, he goes, you don't know how many miles I've driven gas free and he says 81,000 and I was jealous. I think it clicks over to 81,000 officially on my commute home today, but it's right around that number. It's 80,900, whatever. Right, right, right. So yeah, it's about to get a pretty high number. 140. I mean, think about it. 140 for me. How much money do you think he would have spent on gas in 81,000 miles? A lot. Thousands of dollars. Of course. Thousands and thousands of dollars, he saved by going to electric and he may have a home charger, but he just charges here every day. Correct. And the drives home, he's good. Now, that money, that money that I've saved on gas, I've spent on other items, I'm just socking that money away. I understand you. It's cap's beanies. It's like, it's not like I have a slush for it. So when are you going to get that next two weeks, he said, next couple weeks. I think I might try, they, they're awesome.

6:09I might try out some cars that they were, they were volunteering and they're like, you know what? We'll drive out of Tahoe to DC, drive the Tahoe for a week and we'll do the traverse and whatever you want. Well, I mean, Matt's got the tests, he's, he's plugging it in every single day. That he is. I actually had a little bit of a discussion with the valet this morning, he hasn't been charging my car. Oh, really? Which one? Well, that's the, that's a soul crusher today's, today's guy or like Benji, Benji's new. Yeah, the young kid. I'm not Benji. Badar. Oh, Badar. So is he not charging it because he's upset with you or he just doesn't get the tons of food? What's the deal? I think he's lazy. Oh, he tells me that it's full. Oh, he tells full during the winter time and I was like, well, I've been parking here at 9 a.m. Every day and the other guys don't have a problem charging it. Right. Right. It was kind of okay. I was his. He said, he said, he said, he said, he talked to yard and I go, I will. Okay.

7:10Take it up in the balls. So did you. So when you left yesterday, was it, was it, what was your, your battery at 38%? It's not good enough. Not enough. That's the range. What's the range on 38%? I made it home and then I went to the gas station and charged it. Yeah. What's it takes a lot of charge? Was it taken about 20 minutes? Yeah. I mean, that's why like charging when you're parked while you're working is ideal. I can't tell. There's a Harris teeter right in my house, all right, with the gas station. Yep. And when I pull in there sometimes, not in the mornings before I go to work. But if I pull in there in the afternoon, there are nine tesses just charging it up. All just lined up. Yeah. Eight to 10 tesses every single day. So out in your lots of, lots of tests out in your part of the earth where you live, there are actually Harris teeter gas stations. Yeah. Wow. 8:11play Monday, March 16th against Golden State, speaking of the Wizards. Don't forget Red Panda is appearing in halftime. Also, it is a red panic in us. The Wizards of course allowed Bam out of bio to go for 83 points. Yep. And Eric Spolstra, the head coach of the Miami Heat was catching some criticism. Because of the shenanigans at the end of the game, he talked about it after, immediately afterwards that once he hit 50, they were like, well, let me see if it goes for 60. And then once he hit 60, they're like, well, let's go for the record. But you know, he had, I mean, there were members of the Heat missing free throws on purpose. They were, they were fouling to get extra possessions. But he did the Conor McGregor. I don't, do we have the audio values? I'm not sure if we have the audio. Thank you. So Conor McGregor, one time, got on the mic after winning and he had been criticized for certain things.

9:11And he said, I apologize to absolutely effing no one. And Eric Spolstra essentially did the same thing that I apologize. Here it is. I apologize to absolutely no one period. And you know, going into the game, you know, it's a Tuesday night game against a team where they're not playing for anything, where their organization is trying to lose. We've already lost a game, you know, in that kind of situation. We have players that are sitting out and I spoke to BAM about, I want as our best player on Team Captain for him to be locked in and ready. And he sure was. Yeah, I did like his little swipe at the Wizards base, let's say they're not playing for it. They're actively trying to lose. He's accurate. He's correct. He's correct. That is the, that is the blueprint for the Wizards this season. And he said that they've lost to a team once in that situation.

10:12He had his radar up. He didn't want it to happen again. And BAM, BAM talked about it as well. BAM said, once I got to 70 points with nine minutes left, BAM. He said, he could have gone for 100. He said, what coach is going to just pull you out of the game? He said, we're going for it. Home game. He said, like that, like, you don't think it would have been a travesty if he had topped Wilts records. He scored 102 points. Well, at least, at least we would have seen it, but that would have been funny. That's true. I guess we would have, we would have actually seen moving pictures of it happening. Yeah, but I mean, BAM was the same way. I mean, he's just saying, right, what do you want me to do? The common sense just says, I'm staying in the game and I'm trying to break these records or surpass Kobe, but Spulstra, he was, you know, he was pissed. He was super wrecked. He was. I mean, Kate's thought that Spulstra should have taken him out for the integrity of Kobe Bryan. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know anything. I mean, we didn't coach. You talk to Spencer Carberry the day after it happened. He's like, of course, I'm going to keep the guy in. Right. I mean, I think most coaches would, if not all, probably right, if not all, but coach Cakes

11:15would have pulled. But they are still talking about it. We give him the big hole. I mean, yes, BAM was talking about this morning. Well, it's pretty amazing feat in about a guy scored 83 points. Well, no, just how controversial this because it was controversial of how it happened. I think people upset that it was BAM out of buy. Like, had it been one of the guys who scores a ton of points, I think it would have been less controversial. But BAM's the guy doesn't even have just 20 points of game. Yeah. Well, he did last night. He had 21. He backed up his 83 with 21. Yeah. Okay. I think he took, I think he took as many shots as he made last night, he took as many shots as he made against Blizzard. Yeah. That's almost as big a swing as we had in the weather yesterday for snow like, it's going to be okay. It's going to be okay today. Mid 50s kind of something. Yeah. We're good. Yeah. Having normal standard mid March weather. But that was a pain in the ass to drive yesterday out, out west to the whole road. It was a big accident on the greenway yesterday. Big one. And what happened on the GW Parkway? Oh, I didn't see that. A horrible story where somebody's just driving home on the parkway, tree falls into their

12:20car, kills them. Oh, my gosh. I mean, that's the, that's the worst luck of all time. Like how long does it take a tree to fall two seconds, a second and a half, something like that? I don't know. And your car is directly in the path of that tree as it's falling on the GW and kills you. What time did that happen? I don't know the time of day, but it's a, that's a tragic beat when it's just a horrible story. Yes, it is. Didn't Eric Sun have an incident with the tree? And yeah, just avoided a few years ago, avoided something like that. I think it actually, that it hit part of his car, like, but didn't, didn't hit like nearly driving. Like, yeah, he was, I think it hit his car. He was just very lucky. Didn't hit him. Yeah. I mean, I was just on the GW Parkway, I don't know, two or three days ago. I was on it. I mean, it was 45 minutes ago. It was windy yesterday. So I could see why some trees were going down, but man, that is just the worst luck ever. Terrible luck. That was just awful. It was all kinds of awful things happened yesterday.

13:20The guy drove into the synagogue. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The shooting at ODU. Right. Oh, man. Yesterday was a bad day. That's why I don't watch the news. My kid used to call it the bad news when I would have the news on. There wasn't a lot of bad news. There wasn't a lot of good news yesterday. No doubt. There wasn't. Uh, that accident happened at around 11.30 a.m. yesterday. Yeah. That was the worst, that was the worst weather at about 11.30. It was starting to snow. Yeah. It was windy as hell. Not sure if it was snow in a DC, but it was snowed out in my hood. It was. It was coming down. I'm just driving to Leesburg and all of a sudden, was that the snowflakes hitting my windshield? That snowflakes, too. There it is. There were snowflakes. They were big. But getting back to the tree falling into the car, my only exploitation is, it was that person's time just horrible, just in the wrong place at exactly the wrong time. Like if they're driving five miles per hour faster or slower, they don't get hit by

14:21the tree. They were driving the exact wrong speed for this to happen. And it just happened. It's not like they were at a stoplight or a stop sign. I know. It's frickin terrible. That is a bad beat, man. God. Though I will say the last time I was on the GW Parkway, there was the traffic was stacking up in the right lane, waiting to get on to 4.95. And I was, of course, I was, of course, jerk, it's just, you were trying to be a late darner. No. There were a few late darders. I like nothing more than sitting there and wasting 10 minutes of my life. And then the late darner tries to get over and I, I, I try to leave this much room between my bumper and the person in front of my, mine's bumper to not let them in. Because you should wait in the line with me and everybody else. It's waiting their turn. But no, you're going to drive the left lane. You're going to try to dart over in a little tiny crack. And sometimes people let them in. And it gets me bitter. So you don't let them in. I try not to.

15:21Now, I don't think I have a perfect record because I think sometimes I just leave a little too much space and somebody just fills that space. But man, that, that, that, that is one thing that boils my blood when I'm driving. Is the late darner into, into the traffic line that's waiting and just part of a civil society. And then they're just trying to upset the apple cart. Oh, it drives me crazy. I stay away from GW Parkway. I have generally tried to do the same. I'm rarely on that road. But my GPS threw me on GW Parkway. So I took it. Do they still have the major construction on GW? No. It's pretty much done now. I mean, sometimes there's, there's like two little bridges where sometimes they're still doing some construction. But for the most part, it's good to go. I just, I take it every morning now. For a while, I was doing cab and John and coming in that way, but, so you take the G dog all the way out to the beltway every morning. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cab and John's too, too many lanes flipping back and forth.

16:21Sometimes it's too late. So you have to pay attention too much. Yeah, there's too much paying attention. There's too many lane flips going on for my liking. Thank the Lord that me, Matt and Matt and Mike don't have to take the beltway every single day. So it's a blast. Matt, Matt, Matt, Matt, what are you guys ever on the beltway? Probably never. I mean, unless you're going to play golf somewhere or visiting my parents or sometimes if you're, if you're in the area and 66 is so backed up, then you kind of want to avoid at 66 as much as possible. So you'll jump on one of the 495 to hop on 66 down the road. Just real quick, yeah. Man, I'm just, we're lucky we're not on the beltway, although the traffic I don't think is as bad as it was when they were doing that construction over the, over near River Road. But I stay away from the belt. Hey, if you can stay away from the beltways much as you can, you're living a good life. I stay away.

17:22I got to deal with the 270 spur every day and then the beltway and then now I'm doing G-Dub Parkway. But yeah, when they were doing that construction, sometimes I'd have to take Cab and John in.
