The Atlanta Falcons are on the hunt for a quarterback, and could add one soon as the league year kicks off on Wednesday. Geno Smith has jumped into the mix after the Las Vegas Raiders decided to release him next week, unless the trade happens first. This comes amid rumors linking Atlanta to big names like Tuatago Veloa and Kyler Murray. Smith joined the Raiders last offseason on a two-year, $75 million deal after a trade from the Seattle Seahawks. The team helped he will repeat his past success, but things fell apart quickly. He threw in league-high 17 interceptions against just 19 touchdowns over 3,000 yards. In Seattle, Smith thrived under coach Pete Carroll, starting 35 games with a 67.5% completion rate over 8,000, 600 yards, 55 touchdowns, and only 21 picks. He earned two Pro Bowl nods and the Associated Press comeback player of the year in 2022,

Now they plan to draft a new quarterback like Fernando Mendoza with their top pick. For the Falcons, Smith offers starter potential, since he's not far from his top 15 form and can air it out deep. If Atlanta passes on a main guy, plenty of backups hit free agency next week, including Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Jimmy Garoppolo, Zach Wilson, Trey, Lance, and Sam Howell.
