America leads the world in medicine development. It matters. We get new medicines first nearly three years faster. Five million Americans go to work because we make medicines here at home and not relying on other countries keeps us safe. But China is racing to overtake us. Will we let them or will we choose to stay ahead? When America leads, America cures. Let's tell Washington to keep us in the lead. Learn how at americancures.com. Pay for it by Farma. Lots to get done today. Sweet 16 coming up. Opening day underway already. Let's get it.

Hit me up. One eight zero zero six three six eight six eight six. It is toll free. The fund is good no matter where you are. One eight zero zero six three six eight six eight six. Lots of different ways to get through. Maybe you're watching a threshold radio on west with one sports. Maybe you're watching on satellite series XM. Maybe you're watching us on X. Well, listening on threshold radio. But watching on X watching on the Rome channel. Any way in is great by me. Just have a take. Don't suck. Make it better. We will get you right to the front of the line. All right. So the interviews are as follows because spoiler alert. It's opening day. Spoiler alert. Last night was not opening day. I'll have that in a minute because today is actually opening day. Sean Casey will join me at 1240. We do him every single year for opening day. There's no better way to kick off the major league season.

Then by having the mayor on Alex and Saloney is back in. I got to check in with him. He's got new team. I always talk to him wherever he is. So he's signed with the bucks. So I'll have that for you at the top of our number two. Top of our number three, the beef segment. What is your beef on Thursdays? We do beefs. It can be a beef about anything at all. That's coming up in the third hour. Fourth hour is a major hour of the after hour major because I've got Adam Rank and James Kelly. We did not push out a podcast yesterday. So we're going to chase the after hour with the Jim Rome podcast and more of the big head. The big head and I are going to break down everything relating to the sweet 16. So you want to make sure that you check that out. All of that coming up today. And again, you've got your phone number. Let's start with opening day. Did anybody catch fake opening day on Netflix last night because it didn't really feel

like that many people even knew that it was happening at all. Like is opening day really opening day if it's not even on actual television and it's not even on actual opening day. I'm going to say no. I'm going to say today is the real opening day and last night was just some glorified Netflix commercial. You know how I know that today is the actual real opening day. Easy. Sean Casey's coming on. The mayor is doing his annual hit and the annual appearance happens every single year on opening day. I rest my case. So if you did miss fake opening day last night, don't worry because you didn't miss very much at all because it was not very much of a game at all. Hey, hey, Frisco. Way to treat your fans and the world to a real offensive display. That was supposed to be some

sort of enormous triumph for the entire Bay Area, you know, having a tech company stream opening night to the planet from Oracle Park. Too bad the giants forgot to score any runs. Too bad, Frisco forgot to bring their bats. Too bad Frisco forgot to show up for the game itself. Hopefully no one stepped on any human excrement as they entered the yard. It just playing Frisco fan. We know there's no human excrement upon entrance to your hallowed yard. The excrement is actually downtown. I know Frisco because I stepped in some the week of Super Bowl and let's just say that my David August puppies were not too pleased anyway, Frisco fan. A seven nothing shut out with your ace on the mound on opening night. Yeah, that's tough, Frisco fan, especially because

it's not like Aaron judge did anything at all. All Aaron judge does is what he did, namely nothing, nothing on an elevated stage, nothing, nothing, nothing. All Aaron judge did was pick up exactly where he left off at the WBC and strike out not once, not twice, not three, four times. Just do seriously picked up a golden sombrero in the opening night showcase game after taking an 0 for four with three case in the WBC final. This dude seriously just became the first ever reigning MVP to ever sombrero on the next opening day. This larger than life dude somehow cannot come up any smaller in a big spot. It's like he gave himself one of his patented horrible motivational speeches before that game last night and then went out and played down to the level of the straight

fire that he spits. It stands to reason. If that's the way he talks to his teammates, you can only imagine the way this cat talks to himself. Nothing good or he wouldn't be rocking a golden sombrero in the season opener after punching out three times on the international stage in the WBC. Now, luckily for the Yankees, it didn't matter because they won easily and every Yankee not named judge managed to get on base. And then of course that stud from Encino max freed pitched a great game and Frisco only managed to reheats all night long. So like I said, not much of a game. The biggest thing that came out of that last night was the implementation of the new ABS challenge system, aka the Umsho's worst nightmare. It is finally here. Finally here. And the Umsho could not be any less happy to see it. Of course, they're not happy. One former UMP even made headlines for

trashing the whole idea at underdog MLB, quote, Richie Garcia, former MLB umpire on ABS system, quote, I think it's embarrassing, embarrassing to the umpires that are calling the game. Nobody likes to be humiliated in front of 30,000, 40,000 people and a quote, oh, it's embarrassing to the ump show calling the game. Yeah, too bad, dude. Maybe if y'all weren't so embarrassing at your jobs in the first place, this would not have been necessary in the first place. Hey, guys, forget getting it right. Forget getting it right. What we need to consider are the feelings of the ump show. That's the most important thing. How they all feel said nobody ever. Never mind improving the game. Never mind using the technology at our disposal to make the game better. Never mind

getting the damn calls right. Forget all that. Just remember the ump shows little feelings and make sure those widow feelings aren't hurt. Hey, Richie Garcia, nobody cares. Here's a hammer, have some. That's not a good take. It's not a good take, Rich. Listen, ump show, you're no different than the rest of us. Do your freaking job or the freaking robots will do it for you. And I'd say the same thing about anybody listening or watching this right now, myself included. But especially you, ump show, do your freaking job or the robots will do it for you. It's over for you, ump show. Your reign of terror is done. Your power tripping is over. Your monopoly over home

plate is finished and nobody feels sorry for you in the slightest. In fact, everybody is going to take immense pleasure in watching you get embarrassed in front of 40,000 people. You say like no ump likes to be humiliated in front of 40,000 people. Yeah, I guess. Just know that everybody else likes to see it. For instance, here's a random response. One random response to that underdog MLB post, I think summed up pretty well how most people feel about this notion that it's not fair. The ump show might be embarrassed by the new system. Quote, Richie Garcia can go believe himself. Can't wait for all umpires to be extinct and hopefully arrested and prosecuted. That's from at Frankie's too loud. You know what? Well said, Frankie's too loud. And I don't think you were too loud at all. I think that was actually the perfect volume.

I'll give you this ump show. I'm not here to bury you. I'm not. I'm not here to prosecute you or get you arrested. That's Frankie. Frankie wants you prosecuted and arrested and told you to go believe yourself and becoming extinct. I'm not saying that at all. In fact, I'm here to pump you up ump show. It's thin skinned and as but hurt as you are. At least you won your first one. You can always remember that the ump show triumphed in their first average challenge against check it. Other hitters is capable of doing damage and he's got good stuff so it's bad. We had our first ABS challenge. They had a call that was a strike. Here was the pitching question. The pitch challenged by Jose. Thought that was up and in. Challenge. Ah, you see, maybe it won't be all humiliation for you. Um, show how long before the ump show starts to flex when they get one right. You know, like somebody makes a big play. They got to

style it. Like you can't ring somebody up, but wouldn't be great if they started talking smack. Oh, yeah. Okay. How'd that go? The umpire. The umpire should do like not a bad flip but like a face mask flip. Something like that. Like how you like that? Be. Anyway, funny that you just automatically assume that you guys would be wrong and humiliated all the time. I mean, it is the correct assumption going forward. I would imagine wrong. You clowns probably will get owned over and over and over and over again. But you know what though? I think it's a good thing. It's actually a reason to watch more baseball than ever this year. I'm actually excited about the technology. Excited about the ABS challenge system continuing a successful pattern of changes in baseball. They actually are making changes within the sport that make the sport better. Like evolution, change, improvement. I like

it. I'm excited by a lot of these changes, but not all of them, not all of them. I can't say that I'm totally fired up by this one. You know, the name change at Dodger Stadium. Maybe you saw that. The name change at Dodger Stadium. Now easy fellow Dodger honks. There are a lot of us. It is still Dodger Stadium. I know. Speak of hallowed grounds. As a kid being born in LA, I grew up going to Dodger Stadium. Many people have. One of the oldest tradition few filled beautiful ball parks anywhere. Chavez ravine. Well, it was. It was Chavez ravine. Now apparently it's Uniqlo Uniqlo field at Dodger Stadium. Oh, kind of ugly. And also nobody's

going to call it that anyway. So not a big deal. But that's what it is. Stadium sponsorships are pretty much inevitable these days. I just thought that Dodger Stadium. There it is on the field too. Also on the field. If you're watching on the stream, personally, I thought, especially as Dodger Gym, that Dodger Stadium was above that, almost everybody has a stadium sponsor now, except for a few. There is an unveiling that we didn't really need. That's not very dramatic. Oh, if you're watching on the stream, you're seeing it. Listen, Wrigley Field has not done it. Fenway Park has not done it. Yankee Stadium has not done it, but Dodger Stadium has. So my first thought was damn. Not even Angel Stadium. Now maybe nobody wants to associate with Angel Stadium, but not even Angel Stadium. My first thought was for Dodger

Stadium to do this. Man, this must be some gigantic stack of cash. One that they could not refuse. But then the LA Times reported that it's a five year deal worth 125 mil. Only. Now I say only, but to me, it seems like Uniclo got some value, man. I say only because that's walk around money for the Dodgers. That's pocket change for the Dodgers. 25 mil per. To have all that signage all over the inside and outside of the stadium and the logo painted on the third baseline. How is that enough money for the Dodgers? Again, as always, I don't want anybody telling me I'd spend my money. So I don't want to tell anybody how to spend there is, but I'm going to ask how can you spend that money or take that money in exchange for that signage?

25 mil literally walk around money for the Dodgers. They could go into their closet, pull out a sports code and pull out a 25 million dollar bill that they had forgotten about. You ever do that? You ever go into your closet and pull out a jacket like damn, forgot about that 20. That's nice. That's a win. That's the Dodgers. Go into their closet, pull out a sports code. Oh, look at that 25 million dollar bill. Forgot I had that. We're out of the rash tray. We're out of their cushions. I don't know, man. At least it's not as cringe as crypto.com arena. And frankly, it's not going to impact my status or my life in any way. I still am going to be Dodger Jim. I am still Dodger Jim. It is still Dodger Stadium and the Dodgers are still not ruining baseball. 818 for life. Dodger Jim forever. Wait. Wait, maybe not. Come to think of it. Maybe not.

Maybe not Dodger Jim forever. Maybe, maybe I'm Uniclo Jim. This could be the Uniclo Jim show. And honestly, I don't want to negotiate, negotiate against myself, but I might be willing to take slightly less than 25 mil per to do it. Maybe. But if you're going to step to me Uniclo, and you want me to be Uniclo Jim, star of the Uniclo Jim radio stream, step to me now and step to me aggressively because there are others outside in the waiting room looking to do the same. If you want your name painted across my white desk or my fleshy forehead, step to me now and step to me aggressively. Damn, I'll paint this room red. I'll paint this famous white desk red.

Fake opening day. If it happened yesterday, it did really happen at all. Man, Aaron Judge hopes not. Frisco hopes not. They got their heads beat in. Check it out. Check out my new vanity plates. Uniclo. I'll do that too, man. That's all part of the package. I've got like a menu, right? If you want the naming rights to the studio or if you want the naming rights to the show or if you want the naming rights to me or if you want the naming rights to my vanity plate or if you want all of those things, there is one price, Uniclo. We are open for business, much as the Dodgers were. Uniclo stadium, Uniclo gym, 1-800-636-86-86, fake opening day.

I was checking in on my guy, Tony Batello. I'm really interested in that hiring. Remember, he's a manager of the Giants and he runs hot. He's very intense, high energy and the guy said point blank after he got that job. He said recently, hey, man, I don't know how I'm going to be able to deal with losing 60 games a year, like he doesn't take losing well, but he came from college. They don't play 162 in college and he said to Buster Posey, I don't know how well I'm going to take losing 60 games a year and Buster said something along the lines of dude. If you lose 60 a year, believe me, we will all be doing cartwheels. Well, they got hammered last night. All right, once again, 1-800-636-8686 opening day. I want to get to that, but not last night's opening day, today's opening day. Hey, by the way, have you been watching the Pirates and the Mets? The Pirates and the Mets, Paul Schien's chased in the first inning. Hold on, now, I thought this was the year

the Pirates were going to make it to the postseason and maybe make a run. How are we going to make that argument if their ace didn't make it out of the first inning? Not saying that it was his fault, but we'll get into that too. A little bit later on. Oh, wild, wild story. Wild, but not in any way surprising, shocking or unpredictable. No way. Will Wade is back at OSU. Knock me over with a damn feather. No way. Man, it was shocking thing about that is that it took as long as it did for that to actually happen. Who didn't see that coming? Who did not see that coming? Let me say it for you, clones. Stevie Wonder saw that coming. Ray Charles saw that coming. Sandy Duncan saw that coming. Who didn't see that coming? The only shock is that it took as long as it did for it to actually happen. No way. OSU rehired Will Wade. Will Wade took that job.

And never mind that a couple of weeks back, he was just talking about, is that job even open? What do you care, Will? Since when does that matter to you? Obviously not because there you are. Once again, 1-8-0-0-6-3-6-8-6-8-6-6. Sean Casey, Alexander Lone, what's your beef, the after-hour, the podcast, and more. It's going to be a big, big content day here in the jungle. Moscow Mario, War Jake Rome posting on IG videos of his cat. War Cody and Irvine, I'm being an uncle. Mario, you are getting really, really out of hand. Is a cat aficionado. If you know for a fact that other members of my family have a cat

and are posting about that cat and then you're hitting me up with that. I mean, bro, you love you some cat. Even I didn't know about that. Well, actually, Mario, I did because DJ hit me up today because DJ love stuff like this. And I'm talking in this voice because it's my Frisco voice. Frisco fan is specifically Fresno Mario. So anyway, Fresno DJ hits me up with, oh, did you see Jake's story on Ted? I said DJ, I did not, I did not see that. Oh, it's so cute. Fresno Mario, you're like DJ, even you've seen it and I haven't and it's my kid. He writes War Cody and Irvine being an uncle. Hey, look, I'm not going to apologize for being a cat guy. I love that red doll legend, go to the red doll legend. Now he's really irritating as a senior cat, man, that dude is loud. If that dude's not happy, we're all not happy. He makes sure of it.

Except Frisco Mario. So, but my point is I'm not apologizing for it. There's a lot of people like damn, dude, really? You like cats? I'm like, yeah, I do actually. Now I'm not going to apologize for it. You're not going to back me down over that except damn, man, Frisco Mario loves him some cat. I have never seen a dude who's more about cat nation than Frisco Mario. How do I know? He knows that our son posted a story about a cat and even I didn't know that. But now I do. Bro, do you have, if I'm Dodger Jim and I've got Dodger Jim car flags, Dodger Jim vanity plates? Dude, are you rocking cat flags? Cat vanity plates? Cat decals? Cat stickers? Do you walk your cat? Do you take your cat everywhere with you? Do you dress your cat? You would not want to do any of that stuff. Do you have little cat, cat kicks? Little cat shoes?

See, what else do we have here? Stuck nut. We would love to purchase the naming rights to Alvy's control room, regards Trojan condoms. Nobody nobody nobody would buy that. Alvy does not wrap her. It never rains in Southern California. No need for any raincoats. Am I right, Alvy? Dude, dude, now why would Trojan sponsor somebody who has never once in his life used their product and never will? Nice try, stuck nut. Butt nuts. Butt nuts? You thought that was funny, didn't you? Butt nuts? You thought that was a good one. Makes no sense. Steve and Palm Springs, Snaggerer. I think Uniclo would get more bang by being on Big Head's forehead. Hey man, everything is for sale. There you go. Now, to be honest with you, if he takes money off of my plate to put on his gigantic

forehead, I'll be pissed. But then again, I'll understand it. What's not for sale? If Dodger Stadium went to Uniclo for 25,000 per, what's not for sale? Everything is for sale. Dodger Stadium, his forehead, my studio, this show, everything is for sale. Ed in Damien quote, hey, ref show. Time to die! Signed robots everywhere. Well, specifically the ump show. SA SportsHawk quote, Rome, what the hell are you talking about? Last night was real opening day, SMDH. Sincerely, fake silk, fake fake silk, fake Joe Flacco, fake Randy Moss, mutt in L.A. and Clint in Mississippi. Hello, how many they hold up? As in, I got a whole lot of toilets

to clean up from the bounce up out of here because I'm blue collar like that, Romeo. Ken, I'm telling you Ken, you're batting about 100. For every 10 submissions, one lands. That one did. Probably not the mat who was on hold last I checked. Steve in the 602, Jimmy, I'm looking forward to your 20 minute opening day Dodger monologue. It'll be the only time the ad debacks get a mention this season. War of the Huskers winning the battle of the corn, corn fed Fred's basketball game tonight. Dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude. I'll wait for the apology. We had Tori level one like 10 seconds ago. We always do Tori. What do you mean that's the only mention you get? I mean, I could be really snarky about it and say, you get as many mentions as you deserve, but I'm not saying that. I talked debacks baseball. Come on, Steve. Don't. Don't. Don't do that.

Apology accepted. We just had your manager on 10 seconds ago and he was awesome and I do it every year before the start of the season. He's one of the guys I look for every year before the start of the season. So what are you talking about, Steve? All right, when we come back, something else I do before the start of every single season. I run down the mayor, Sean Casey. You know, you don't want to miss that case. It's coming up next. You're listening to the Jim Rome show. The world moves fast. You work day, even faster, pitching products, drafting reports, analyzing data. What does that really matter when you are joined by a legend the way we are right now? He is a former major illegal who played 12 years in the big leagues, a three-time all-star host of the Mara's Office podcast. The question you can watch him throughout the season across MLB network shows, including the Emmy Award-winning MLB tonight and the Emmy Award-nominated MLB Central. Of course, I'm talking about my guy Sean Casey. Case, with the regular season getting underway, you knew that I would come looking for you. How you living my brother? Well, I expect it, brother. Every opening day, Jim Rome shot Casey's got a collide, forced his man. I'm so glad to be here, brother. It is great to have you here. I appreciate you so much. Thanks for making time for it. All right, so last night started with a standalone game, streaming on Netflix. Yankee's hammered the giant seven-nothing. I want to ask you case,

it's a tough game. Baseball is a really hard game, and last night Aaron Judge had a really tough game. Four strikeouts going to Sombrero. You had a long career. You were a great hitter, a great contact hitter. Did you ever, ever have a golden Sombrero in your career? It's a totally different player than Judge. I never struck out four times. I've played this strike out three times a lot, but Judge is the guy that's going to catch the ball up front, and when he does, he's going to be the best player in baseball. I think of it this for me. I'll never forget every opening day, Cincinnati, full house, packed house. Everyone's there. It's a national holiday in Cincinnati. And I remember the next night would be game two. There would be like 45 people in the stands. Everyone's back in school. No one's there. And Adam Dunn would grab me and always say, well, case only 161 to go. And I'd be like, oh, man, you're right. So no, opening day is always a little bigger. You know, we all get fired up by it, but don't forget where only we got 161 to go. I got a feeling Aaron, when this is all said and Dunn, Aaron Judge might

have another MVP on his side. So I hear you. I see you working. I don't disagree. But like, when you go through a game like that case, four strikeouts, three strikeouts, whatever it is, I know it's a long season. I know you move on to the next thing. But how hard is that to shake? And could a really bad night like that actually put you into a slump? I mean, no, listen, I mean, for certain guys, yes, I mean, there's no doubt about it. And there's a game like that. A game like that sucks. It really does. I mean, that's a game you're like, you know, you go home and you're like, okay, that wasn't what I wanted. And an off, obviously, any player for opening day visiting or away, you're excited too. So I'm sure, Judge, he's glad they got the W. You know, it'd been worse if they lost that game. They won seven, nothing. And like I said, you got to have a short memory in this game, bottom line. And if anybody does, if they're in judge, I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out game two and goes off. Sean Casey joining us case. We're about the giants. I'm really curious to see that experiment. The hiring attorney of a television manager, like again, remember, no big way experience. Not as a coach, not as a player, not as a manager. They take them right out of the

college ranks. And you know, the guys high energy had them on this show. I really liked why I had to see or hear from him, watched him in college. But even he himself said, hey, man, I don't know how I'm going to deal with losing 60 games a year. Buster Posey said, bro, if you lose 60 a year, we are all going to be ecstatic. What did you make of that hiring? And how do you think he's going to deal on that level, especially with the losses? I've got a note, Tony, pretty well over the last couple of years. And you know, I think one thing about being a big lead manager and some of the best big lead managers I had, like a Leeland or Terry Francona, you know, these guys are great people people. You know what I mean? They're just the great with people, the great in the clubhouse, they're great leaders that way. And I think Tony Vittello is that guy. I think that's what Buster Posey saw. That's what they saw at Tennessee. That's why he was getting paid so much money there too. So I think he's going to do well. I think that it's going to be a different animal as far as playing 162. This isn't college where you're playing 67 games. This game at the big lead level can wear on you. It just really can because you're doing it every single night. It never stops.

It's relentless. It keeps coming for you. So I think that might be the biggest adjustment for Tony. It's just the nature of the beast of 162, the travel, getting in the hotel is late and all that stuff. So, but I think he's going to be all right. I really do. I think he's got the demeanor for the personality. And I think people are people naturally gravitate to Tony. We were talking to Sean Casey, kind of like you, Sean. Also, what about the defending two-time champs, right? I'm kind of getting tired case of having to defend the Dodgers for not ruining baseball, for not being bad for baseball. You can't convince me that they are, but that said case, where do you come out on that? Are they not good for baseball? And when you look at what they did this offseason, might this be Dave Roberts' best team since he's been there? Oh, well, I think they're great for baseball. I mean, listen, at the bottom line is they're playing within the parameters of the system. They're not doing anything that the system doesn't say you can do. You can't do. Andrew Friedman was the best in Tampa when he was there, and then you give Andrew Friedman a chance to go with payroll and mix and match the way he does. And look at their

look at their farm system, Romeo. One of the best farm systems in the game. So, not only do they draft well, not only do they develop well, not only do they trade well, but they have the resources now to go out and sign, you know, almost a eight to ten-man rotation where you could use the blade spell for two months. You could tell glass now we just need 15 starts at the end of the year into the postseason. You can go sign a Yamamoto. You can give Otani 700 million. So, listen, at the end of the day, whenever team is winning, they win a lot, you know, I think as a society, well, like, oh, we don't like this anymore. The Dodgers are doing it right. Andrew Friedman, they're working within the system, but not only do they just go by players, they develop players, and they do a good job of being a whole organization. I've been trying to say the same thing case. I just haven't said it as well as you just said it. In terms of who they added this off season, could this be at least on paper the best team Dave Roberts has had? Well, it's crazy to even say that, you know, yeah, Tucker, you know, into that lineup and just the guys that they already have, yeah, this could be the best lineup

that he's looking at. The best team overall team he's looking at. And I actually feel like, I don't know about you, Romeo. You get to see it a lot out there too, but Otani, I feel like, oh, yeah, I got the MVP. I got a 50-50. I feel like he wants to say young. I mean, that's kind of how that's the kind of guy that you, you know, when you see him picks him out, especially that last starting spring training, fournings, eleven punchouts, you're starting to feel like, oh, he wants to do it on the buff too. So I think we're going to see him do some special things again this year. Could be a style young, you know, that he's going for. But Dave Roberts, man, listen, another thing with Doc, you want to talk about a great guy in the clubhouse, a guy that is a leader of men, Doc Roberts has always been that. And then you obviously give him the team that he has just because you have a team like that and a pair like that doesn't mean you're going to win, especially in baseball. So I think Dave's done a great job managing that clubhouse, managing the roster, managing the bullpen and doing what he has to do. And there was a couple moves in the postseason that he made, especially starting Rojas in game seven and keeping them in there for their bat in the ninth when he ended up tying it. So there's some things that Dave does throughout

the year. And if you're a Dodger fan, you really appreciate him through 162. Okay, she got, you got to another point that I try and make all the time that Dave Roberts actually is a great manager. I'm defending him all the time. I don't even know why I have to. The guy's a great, great manager, the guy's a great leader, not to mention one of the all time great guys as well. But to your point, the move that he made with Rojas was hunch it was instinct. It was brilliant. And essentially kind of won them the World Series, right? I'm sure Blue J fans still can't believe they didn't win game seven. Sean Casey joining his case. What about the N L East, right? You can't say the Mets aren't trying. The Mets are trying. They are spending. They add boba shed. They also add parolta. So they're trying to get it done. Who do you like in the N L East then? The Mets for the Phillies? Well, I mean, I really like what the Mets done. I think I think Dave was first doing a great job there in the front office. I mean, obviously he flipped the line up. He flipped a lot of the guys. You know, he sent in the lawns. It was gone, Brandon Nemo's gone. I was just with Nolan McClain at the WBC. And I was like, whoa, that's the next level. That's next level stuff. I mean,

the stuff that he was throwing up there. So you have a legit ace in McClain. And, you know, I think Sengen could do is going to have a better year this season. Maniah, hopefully, healthy and back doing his thing in that rotation. You know, I think Peter seems good too. But that line up, I think to get boba shed is a huge get for them. I think he's even, you know, you see him tough at bats, sodas tough about a lot of tough at bats up and down that lineup. So I really do like the Mets, but the Phillies for me, especially if Wheeler comes back here soon, which looks like he's going to, man, I just feel like that, that lineup top to bottom. The, you know, the pitching, I feel like the Phillies for me might be just a little ahead of the Mets right now in the east. In case I appreciate your thoughts on that. I got to ask you this. It was the 25th anniversary this week of Randy Johnson sawing off that bird midspin mid pitch in a spring training game. Now you were not playing in that game, but it's still one of the most insane things I've ever seen in sports. What did you think way back in the day when you saw that this? And what was the talk

like in the clubhouse at that time after that went down? I think I think everybody was shocked as we all were like the timing. Think about that. The timing of all this the bird to have to come across in the middle of Randy Johnson released in the ball throwing a hundred miles an hour, crossing at the same time. I mean, I will never see any like that again, Romeo. I think, and one thing about baseball is you know, too, bro, being around long enough. You know, I remember two women said, Hey, you played in the rear around this game long enough. You see things you've never seen before. So I'm sure we'll see something crazy like that, but that's one of the craziest things we've all ever seen. And when we were watching that in the clubhouse, we were like, can you believe that happened? No, 25 years later, case I still can't believe that happened. So what do you make before you go? The ABS challenge system made its debut last night. What do you make of the impact it's going to have on the game overall? I love it. I love it. I really do. I think it's quick. I think it adds what 57 more seconds of the game. So it's not a time issue. But when you watch the tennis match now, you watch anything volleyball, you know, they're getting it right. So I feel like I feel like there's a strategy to it too. I mean, when you're challenging the call,

Romeo, I mean, what about if we get a three two count game on the line? It's still a challenge and you challenge it. I mean, it's exciting for the fans. It brings a new element to the game. And I think it's good for the umpires too. It makes them accountable, makes them get a little better, get a little piter into the zone to try and figure it out. So I think the ABS system's great for everybody. I think it's proven that it's worked over the last few years in the minors. And I love that it's in the big leagues now. And then we'll see which players you can trust to make that call. And imagine we'll find that out. All right, case final thoughts. Leave me with anything you want. I got about a minute and a half. What's on your mind? Case, what are you working on? What's moving you these days? Oh, man, Romeo, I'll tell you what's moving me. I just I'll tell you what, I just had one of the coolest experiences of my life at the WBC. I was a hitting coach out there with with that experience. You know, I know we lost in the gold medal game, but I tell you what, there was a lot of a lot of great teams we were playing to be in the same clubhouse with those guys and then in the cages every day with judge and Harper and Shorber and Peacrow Armstrong

and all these incredible young players, Bobby Witt Jr. You know, I'm really coming off a high from that. It was really cool. And after that, I got to go five days and see my son Jake and Deniden getting ready to break camp with the blue jays out to high A ball and Vancouver. So, dude, I don't know if I'm the luckiest or most grateful human being alive in the world. I'm sure you feel that way too. Romeo, some of the great things going on in your life with your family. But I got a lot of great stuff happening right now. I'm just very, very fortunate, man. You are the man. You are the best case. That is so great.
