Fake Cop Arrested for Sexual Assault

Rally police recently arrested 33-year-old Meredith Chromarty for pretending to be an officer and pulling over a victim in a fake traffic. Stop. He's facing charges of impersonating law enforcement, extortion, sexual battery, and second-degree kidnapping. Chromarty turned himself in on Monday at the Orange County Sheriff's Office to face Wake County warrants. Others say he kept reaching out to the victim afterward, and was spotted driving near their home. On March 18th, along Capitol Boulevard near Old Wake Forest Road, he allegedly forced unwanted sexual contact on the victim during the incident. This marks at least the second time he's been accused of impersonating a cop, following a charge back in January 2018.
