Ex-Officers: Gerry Adams Led IRA

Their giving evidence in a lawsuit brought by three men injured and separate IRA bombings back in the 1970s and 80s. The plaintiffs won just one pound each in symbolic damages, claiming Adams was responsible. Adams strongly denies any IRA membership or role on its army council, calling the accusations faceless. During cross-examination, lawyers pressed the witnesses on why Adams was an arrested sooner despite the intelligence. One officer explained limited resources and the high bar for criminal proof noting IRA membership charges were rare unless someone was caught with weapons. Both witnesses admitted intelligence isn't always spot on as sources can mislead. The trial picks up again on Monday with more testimony expected.
