Forty-three-year-old Juan Josef from South London contacted a foreign government and even traveled to Ladvia to set up a meeting at their embassy. There, the trial happened mostly behind closed doors at the Old Bailey to protect national security. Joseph worked 11 years for MI5 with top-level security clearance as an IT engineer. His contract ended in October 2020, after colleagues noticed signs of extreme anxiety and paranoia. He soon started claiming he had been victimized at headquarters, including wild accusations of assaults and office harassment, the case drew attention for its secrecy, with judges stressing the need to keep details hidden to avoid risks. Experts agreed Joseph suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and delusions, meaning he did not know his actions were wrong. He denied the charges with skip giving evidence in court.
