Ex-Cop Jailed for Child Abuse Images

0:00On April 20th, a former Bristol police officer named Michael Elmer, 36 years old, just got 13 months in jail for making and sharing indecent images of children. He faced five charges, including three for creating those images, one for distributing them, and one for sharing an intimate photo for sexual kicks. He got arrested back in May 2025 by the Internet Child Abuse team after a tip-off, then admitted everything at Exeter Crown Court in February. The judge called it deliberate offending, saying Elmer showed a clear sexual interest in kids online, and no way around custody for crimes this bad. Deputy Chief Constable John Riley slammed it as appalling, stressing cops have to protect the vulnerable, not fuel this mess. Elmer resigned before a misconduct carrying this month, where they ruled gross misconduct, he'd have been fired anyway, and now he's barred for life from. Policing or law enforcement, on top of jail time, he's got a 10-year sexual harm prevention order hanging over him, making sure this chapter stays closed for good.
