Ex-Cop Admits Harassment, Wasting Police Time

0:00On April 30th, a former police officer named Wood admitted to harassment and wasting police time today at Bristol Magistrate's Court on Thursday, the 30th of April. He pleaded guilty to sending repeated messages that tied up resources in targeted folks unnecessarily. These messages went out from October 2024, right through to October 2025, hitting police stations along with public and community leaders. It had already been suspended back in June 2024 over a different issue, and he ended up resigning in January 2026. According to officials, his actions caused real distress to staff and others involved, with false complaints piling up across organizations. Deputy Chief Constable John Riley made it clear this behavior crossed serious lines and hurt the team. Meanwhile, a related stalking charge without fear or alarm got withdrawn in court today. Wood's out on conditional bail until sentencing by Magistrates on the 26th of June.
