Everlasting Life

You're listening to His light, your path, with Pastor Rod Holler Sr. Today Pastor

Holler brings us a devotional titled Everlasting Life. Drawing from a familiar

verse, John 3.16, Pastor Holler will challenge us with these questions. If God

offers ever-lasting life as a gift, when do we actually receive it? And what

does it mean to believe? And now here's Pastor Holler. John chapter 3 verse 16

for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. At who so

ever believe within Him should not perish but have ever-lasting life. This

verse is rich in truth. It was spoken by Jesus to Nicodemus who was seeking

truth. Jesus responded with this concise yet accurate verse that tells how a

man is saved. Key points in these words of Jesus. First, for God so loved the

world, He is the God of all and He cares for every man, woman, and child. So

loved emphasizes the depth of His love. Second, that He gave. He did not have

an emotional love for the world. Rather, He had such a love that had moved Him

to action. He proved His love by giving a precious gift. Third, His only begotten

Son. He gave what the world needed. His Son to pay the sin debt of the world.

The gift of His Son is a gift of unspeakable wealth. Only true love could

give such a gift. Fourth, that who so ever the unspeakable gift is offered to

every man, woman, and child. No one is excluded from this invitation. Fifth, believe

within Him. The gift is offered freely. The sinner receives this gift by

believing in the work of redemption done by Jesus. There are no works involved

in receiving this gift. Sixth, the moment a sinner believes in Jesus as His

Savior, then two things happen. He will not perish. Go to hell. Rather, He will

have everlasting life. Surely we must realize that Jesus told Nicodemus the

truth of going to heaven. Jesus gave Nicodemus the words that He needed for

everlasting life. Jesus is not an eternity apologizing to Nicodemus because He

gave him an inaccurate plan of salvation. So here we have the greatest truth of

all time in one verse. Let us appreciate the simplicity of the message. Let us

appreciate the importance of the message. Let us appreciate the urgency of the

message. Let us appreciate the value of the message, where it saves a person's

eternal soul. And note that the moment the person believes, then he has everlasting

life. He does not get everlasting life when he dies. He has it right away. Note

again, for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that who

so ever believed in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. So then we

must ask if a man has everlasting life, then how can he lose it? If he could lose

everlasting life, then he did not have everlasting life. But he had temporary

probation. By definition, everlasting cannot be lost. This is a great verse of

comfort. Meditate on its simple truths. Believe in Jesus who shed His blood for

your soul and appreciate that you can have everlasting life. It is the greatest

decision that a person will ever make, where it settles their eternal destiny.
