He was messing around all right You think they should play this for Jalen and AJ as they walk out for OTA's probably At least Jalen Because I mean we know AJ's like a show up to the OTA's he's gonna be there Got two dollars on that. That's gonna be a big one there. So is that April 20th? And that's the first voluntary day. I'd be shocked if he shows a jail and of course we'll be there We saw the Lamar Jackson show like next week right two weeks. Well, I think we got to work on your thoughts on the calendar Because this morning you were talking about something that you have to do a few weeks from now, and it was Jack June 20 You know funny. I was told that that when when brilliant people vibrate on a higher level That's what this is they have no concept of time or the date. So that's kind of where I'm at Okay, that's your justification because I was out of the boss. I was like, yes, but I got to go to a golf tournament a couple weeks And he's like, when well, I think he was thinking like always it around the NFL draft Yeah, it's like no, I'm gonna be there for the draft. Yeah, and then when I told him the day he was like that's not for a couple of months

Well, June 29th. Yeah, he told you not for a couple of months. It's June 29th a couple weeks from right now. No, no, but in my mind Yeah, it's more like 10 weeks, right? So I'm like that. It's a while away. It's gonna be a lot. All right, the number today 888-729-9494 Of course you're getting better with that number. Well, it's our number for today And I make sure people know it so they could give us a call and we'll talk through all these issues here I do see the AJ Brown side of the the nonsense more than I have in a very long time after all the jail and stores But it is nonsense. It is I mean, I'm waiting. We don't agree on that It the whole thing is is nonsense. It's not a great look for anybody But I see AJ side of why he may have acted the way he did more when I hear that the Eagles thing They have to get through to jail and through stories and through the media and through social media It's crazy me, but that's where it is. I do see AJ side. Well, where do you come down? And is Bryce Harper back 888-729-9494 All right, before we go back to the phone lines a couple takes I heard yesterday that were interesting One I think that really kind of was what the point I was trying to make history Kyle was trying to make a lot of callers the other one well from a guy who is I think his name

Ended up in one shining hue yesterday, or at least that drop did let's hear from your former coach Eric Mangini Talking about the hurt situation. I can't wait to read the 10,000-word article about you know when it gets cut Because this this doesn't work. This is a word. I've not maybe won't get cut But I can't imagine that you're going to sign a guy to a new contract if the only way you can motivate him is Is not through direct conversation with the coaching staff or the GM or the owner or his the players that he plays with You have to motivate him to an article on ESPN or a tweets or a podcast. I mean that that I Can't imagine the organization will move forward with him after this this year if this is really the case How could you was a medgenic a man John a man John I remember that yeah, that was One of my favorite ones your thoughts on Eric Mangini's take I mean I don't think is there yet. I hear what he's saying because he's coming from a perspective of if that's the only way we can motivate you

That that's what it is. I don't think that's the case I think they love Jayland hurts here the way that that the owner was going about him when he talked about it They believe in Jayland Jayland is accomplished a lot in a short period of time and here's the reality of it He's accomplished it by Not tapping into his full potential or they believe that to be the case. I think that's a fair way You know what I'm saying so so now Okay, and I guess the way to appeal to him is you know if you think you baby Jordan to somebody like that Take it to the next level because that's what they're asking you to do buy into what Jim man is telling you You know John Jim man I see Jim. No, no, I just feel like calling him Jim Just do it the manion triplets are telling you to do man and buy into it Two and a half and all this yeah, and all this a go away draw the manion heat. Yeah, we could do it We could all Jerry man. Yeah, I like that But that's what this is this this has the potential with the timing and everything and I hear because right now It's not a whole lot going on and we're talking about it because it's a hot story

But Jaylen can change the narrative. That's why you know when you talk about this is a hit for him or whatever I don't think so because he could still change in there if Jaylen comes in and He's humbled and he's positive and he says hey, you know, I'm just ready get back to work I'm gonna listen to he can't be cryptic because I feel like Being cryptic in this situation like he has been in the past Might lend to that you know to that side of the story you're talking about about being like a mile content or something So so he has to come in and he has to be receptive to what's going do you mean that publicly or privately? I mean that publicly. Oh, I don't think he's gonna give any oxygen to this I think he's gonna well when I say that what you I'm thinking when I'm talking Joe I'm talking about when we have our first press conferences I think he's going to treat this story as if it was nothing and he has no idea what's going on But he he has to buy into what they're selling because this got somebody's gonna ask him about you know I know I thought it's gonna be the first question went and what you was going on Would you imagine you think he's gonna even acknowledge that it's it's real

I think he's going to pretend he has no idea what's going on and say I've always done the same things that I got here It's about winning. I think he's gonna give a journalism. I I'd be shocked to take if he acknowledges it to the point where I Know I gotta I gotta listen because that would that would be almost an admission of I haven't been listed Now not to not to that point, but I do believe that if he sits there and say hey, man I'm open to the new offense. Yeah, looking to like that. That's that's kind of answering it without answering Okay, that and that makes sense for that. That's what I was talking. Yeah, because he hasn't really spoken or been No, he won't say a whole lot in a press conference setting about this story obviously or a manian because he's just been the office He's the other thing yesterday and this is kind of our conversation about the cerebral MVP right and and the Does it really matter moving forward in the assessment of the player Colin cowherr talking about The situation the Eagles have and the jail and hurt situation in totality. Jalen hurts is example 358 That it you can't just fall in love with results let fans fall in love with results. They're not paid to run a team coaches GM's

It's gotta be more than results last year Think about this was say Kwan Barkley AJ Brown Devonte Smith Above average tight ends Grade O line stack roster They scored fewer points than New York Giants She's thinking about they had an offense that ranked a total offense that ranked lower than the Saints think about this the Steelers The Steelers spent all their money on defense last year with a 40 year old plus quarterback these Steelers Were a more effective offense without a number two wide receiver than Philadelphia was let fans wave the palm palms and base everything on results That's that's not what GM's have to do. Well, he's right. I mean obviously that that Did you that suggested a story? Did you realize we were behind the Steelers and the Saints to I don't know I think them to them to them to quarters that we had we're gonna score no points kind of

Moralist halves and quarters and in games that that that that's that's her my goodness Maybe I mean maybe I didn't realize it was bad as it was behind the net that's the reality Tyler Schuck Shuck but that's show for a different day It's for a different but yeah, that's what it is. This is to make the kind of money That that that the quarterback is making there has to be more of an output and I understand that the bottom line is winning It is but when you talk about that kind of bread man. That's just like buying a sports car a high-performance vehicle That you can't drive at at a top speed because it doesn't perform the way that it's supposed to perform Like the suspension of some is wrong. It's squirrel. You it doesn't handle right like it's supposed to handle You know, and now you're looking like or anything that you buy and you're like why the hell did I buy this why am I paying all this money for this and It's not doing what it's supposed to do funny. I guess it's a football thing. We wouldn't do this in other sports

Like if the Phillies won a hundred games this year in Bryce Harper hit 190 with 10 home runs would we just say Bryce winner? We'd be flipping out that he's not hitting Right like what why do we I don't the way we do it with Jalen is unlike anything else we do with anything else because we've been grown We've been we've been steered in that way by Jalen. Oh, I think is I think it's genius the way to be I have a theory because if he actually had numbers that you would be proud of or things that he did on the field that you were proud of in In terms of his individual play you would point to those first instead every single thing is Jalen's only quarterback to do this and all of them are What his team did that is what all anybody has is that he has a good team He plays on a good team, but he's the leader at it. Is he yes? Is that why that we had to have a bunch of that is that why they're planning things in in in the media because they can't get through to him Yes, they can't talk to him because he's the leader of the team It feels like it feels like a facade. It is because they're like there's a level with air freight of me. Oh good

This gracious okay, okay, what else what else is it there when you said really they they gave him a contract that they can't get out of for another year So they're they're desperate now. They're making fun of him behind his back calling him little Jordan It's not a leader And he stills getting all the accolades and everything what accolades he got in in the last year Joe On the Super Bowl no in the since then it's it's been nothing, but oh he has gotten he has gotten a pass for his offense being whatever it was He's gotten a pass. I don't think he has well people when they talk about it It's more Kevin Patulo in offensive line. Okay, you know, yeah, I mean, I know because they don't want to believe you Listen, I know why it is, but you're acting like it's not happening and that's where I hear everything I'm sorry Lera's happening, but that's exactly what's happening and that's because Jalen has The one thing that I think Jalen did not and I think back on it that was genius When he said it was it's gonna look like I wanted to look like regardless. It's as long as we're winning

You thought you think that's a good thing now. Well, I think that when he said it People heard it and was like well, yeah, he's right because they were winning. It was ugly that he won some ugly games He won some games Well, Joe, he's the quarterback. Okay, for the sake of this argument when I talk about this Eagles football team Jalen's the quarterback. So I'm giving it to Jalen because he's at the helm regardless of what it looks like He's at the helm. He's the one pulling the trigger. So Well, I say it. I don't mean it to be disrespectful. It just is what it is He's won some ugly games and when you win the way that he's won and you know, you go to the Super Bowl the way that he went People look at him but I hate He epitomizes in my mind when you look at it like that Philadelphia The hard work greedy attitude that this city has right it he did I think he did he did but he did right and then this that's why I said earlier the story cuts at that because If you tell me that same person who I I grew through all those things he he pers he seemed to personify

But then you hear a story and whether or not you are upset at the story or not that someone feels that he has been The opposite of coachable and he does it want to adapt that's hard for people to believe well It's hard for me to to reconcile with the guy that I became a fan of yes, yes, that's hard to believe Well, it's not hard to believe. Well, it is it's it's hard to believe. It's hard. It's hard to accept Hard to believe. No, no, I believe what was written accepting it is always that's what the problem is on these phone lines That's the problem in the city acceptance. Yeah, denial is not necessarily disbelief. No, it's denial of A lot of people that have people close to them that don't do good things and they're in denial about it because they don't want to believe The person they're close to might opt for the person they think there is a thing that I don't think y'all are realizing Is that the majority of the people that that follow Jalen and and you know support Jalen They don't believe have the stuff that that is written anyway They haven't believed that in a long time. I know but I know that's the unfortunate thing about it So now I live this once and we did we did this in a different quarterback

And so now When you talk about a guy Who publicly and visually is the epitome of everything that you want him to be it don't it don't add up That's what that's what the problem is and that's what we're stuck on the bottom line for me is this the story is written Because Jalen needs to be better at quarterbacking to fill it up Eagle 1000% agree That's it that the but but everybody else is stuck on the the oh he's the bad team How's your bad teammate because when people talk about this story then I'm talking about making the fill it up Eagles better It's like why you be smurching this man's name that that's the story, but that's not the real story Well, yeah, and I think the my response is why do they think they have to be spurched his name forget me They got if he plays well, I'll be happy if he doesn't I'm gonna say I think I think I think the bottom line for the story for me is Jalen needs to play better, but that's a part of it. Yeah, well, there's a lot there's a lot to unpack All right, let's go to James who's up on WIP good morning James from a hurricane good morning. Yes

What I'm gonna hurricane up. Well, just the connection James I'll put you on hold and we'll get you back up the connection's just off. Yeah, it sounded like some sort of storm You know, and the problem is with the new phones. I can't tell if this is okay. You can't tell what's fixed I can't try if it's user error. Okay. I'll try again. Yeah. We'll try again in a minute slick Rick and Westfully. What's up slick Rick? Okay Listen, listen, listen, listen. Hi everybody. My man you with Billy's my man. What's going on? Listen, when you come to Jalen man, and I was the baby and I was haggling back and forth getting on To get north you guys up like the thing is in the franchise history of the Eagles He's the best thing since sliced bread and fillet since fillet cheese state So I know it's it's it's it's it's it's a business of now what I have you done for me before Whatever you've done for me lately, but the fact remains is

This guy has taken the Eagles Because what is numbers look like regardless of all this you know speculation that it's coming out in the media You're taking them places that they've never been take it. I'm not gonna lie big problem with my dude Big five was my dude. Did he win? No, but to this day big five still my dude I respect the hell out of doing big five is my dude Hey, my mind. They didn't put a team around here. That's why you wasn't successful But there's neither in order. We're in the present now shot it here. All right Jalen has won now does he deserve a new project? I told a guy on the phone for I gave him one show Hacked to the know He better take this money and perform this year But the fact remains is Listen If you have a different producer Every six months come on man your performance is not gonna be consistent and I think he's done a hell of a job So in that you don't agree with that you know, I say we get a new producer

We just gonna we gonna get ready him kind of I think that's a fair point and a fair way to kind of bring it to us and I agree with that slick Rick good phone call That being said, I've tried to bring this up a lot This is a reality the NFL now now where we've experienced and I think Jalen has experienced it to a Larger degree right cuz you go back to college. He also dealt with it. Yeah, but in the NFL This is not uncommon now there are 18 or 19 new play callers this season if I had a guest They'll be 12 or 13 more next year. This is this is the NFL now teams change players change coaches change all the time If you're recycling head coaches every three years Then you're naturally going to slide recycled coordinators even quicker than that. So we could keep saying it But when I just watched Sam Darnold win with a first year coordinator Jalen won the year before with the guy with them at the first year right Kellen Moore and this year was Kubiak and Darnold It feels less like a detriment and more of a reality. I guess what What I got bothered by It's doesn't it seem contradictory to say despite his performance individually. He's taken the Eagles to of course it is

That like can we get the he's taken them out of our vocabulary? No, we what we could try. I mean, but like that that's That's really the disconnect here from me and everybody else is that we can't we can't separate his individual performance And the teams winning. I think it might be the disconnect in that locker room. It's clearly I mean the baby Jordan thing we can laugh at it But I I think there might be something to those guys who are looking at him like are you serious man? Are you serious with the Jordan thing? Like let's be real for a second. They carried him for most of the cerebral season to you to your point He was a cerebral MVP. He played very well in that game I also thought he played very well in the championship game against the commanders, right? Those he played really well in those games But for most of the season to get to that point they carried him and if I'm them and I'm looking at him with the Jordan stuff I'm rolling my eyes like a dude Jordan Michael Jordan We carried you all half the season to get here. I like I can't get in their heads

But it would make it I wouldn't be surprised if there's an ounce or more than an ounce of like come on It kind of felt like he was telling me to shut up before I got a chance to kind of say no I wanted to finish and then like you talk No, I get it and like I said I came from an era where I long as we won I didn't care who got the credit like that that's just how it was would you care who got the money? I mean as long as I got my bread. I was cool Like the quarterback like if he gets more bread that's less bread for one else I mean, that's the salary help right? He always gets more bread But if he gets if he gets even more soon, that's less for everybody else. I would say The equivalent of that is when we it was me try I think try was the first to go then it was me That's the that's the equivalent of when people were leaving the Philadelphia Eagles because the quarterback got most money That's the nature to be And you know as much as we both wanted to stay here in Philadelphia We both knew that that's just as an independent contractor because that's basically what we are as football players That it was a good chance because of the you know the fact that we were getting older

And you know the money was tied up in the quarterback that that was gonna be the case So that's just the reality these guys nowadays. I think I mean, I get what you're saying when you say it like that But I never looked at it like that. I know you didn't you But these guys are different and you know it's funny because remember the first year Saycoin was here. I remember hearing stories and and nobody validated this it was just The way that I felt it. We remember they had a picture in the back Of I heard they had a picture in the back of the locker room And it had on it say quant Barkley. It was called the chosen one You know like because of what he was doing that you of course And and I kind of wonder if that kind of rubbed folks the wrong way because he got all those accolades But he was a special player that you know question about the team and that That's the nature of football when Tio got here Tio and I'll say this to anybody that listens up in my teammates Tio was the biggest thing on the team at the time with a team full of stars Because Tio was different Tio brought a different aura. He brought a different kind of energy to the team

But he was the best player Jalen's not the best player. I just to me it creates a weird dynamic But you know what Joe that's so if he's not the best player. He taking all the credit He's the quarterback and that's that's how I look. I know I think you're more grounded than maybe the what they have I mean like in that in that it might be the case because when you because for me when you say when we We split here as we tend to split here as you're you're not wrong Like Jalen for the most part He he was a part of a loaded roster in a lot of times even San Fran when the guys came here from San Fran The first year we played when they beat the brakes off of us here They talked about how the roster was loaded And you hear other professional athletes that are planning this era now talk about how to roster's load Who's the who's the linebacker? Talked about how when when you were game planning They weren't really game planning for Jalen That's not a slight well it is a slight But it's it's the truth because Say it's different if you're planning against the Tom Brady right It's different and if you're planning against a loaded roster You game plan to try to stop those guys like Jalen's gonna get his but he's not the guy that's gonna hurt you

That's that's just to in a failed game plan But he is still the quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles He is and and they got unpack all this and make it right now 215 592 Excuse me eight eight seven two nine ninety four ninety for old habits die hard day The number today eight eight seven two nine ninety four ninety four al morgani speaking of a guy that's on top of things As we get ready for a big one tonight the devils and the flyers Huge swing and playoff odds based on tonight's what we'll talk Some flyers with al nax right here on the midday show on sports radio ninety four wip
