They bought up planet. They're based in Kenya. Some Boboi East and West Africa, the UK and Germany. And my honor, I remember in India, Corona, but Todd and all right, all right, I'm going to get on down into it. I'm going to dig right into it. So listen. You guys are really excited about Carolyn, Carolyn, Carolyn, Carolyn. I've been talking about it for the last two shows. Carolyn, Clevverter is coming on to talk to us about resources that caregivers can use. Can you? So listen, I got some real information. And I've got some really nice music to get to in just a moment. So listen, if you guys have been listening to the shows, make sure that you do subscribe. If you're on speaker, if you're listening on Apple, podcasts, or if you're listening on I heart radio, or if you're listening on speaker, make sure you subscribe. So every time the show is scheduled, you will get a notification and you won't miss any information. So listen, you guys know a couple of shows ago. You know, I have been talking about I was putting some things together

to work on getting a bill pass in the lines and the arena of Alzheimer's and dementia, as far as caregivers, caregivers. And so once again, if you missed what I said, I'll say it again. I had reached out to Alzheimer's Association and let them know that I wanted to work with their team because I have never, of course, I've never worked on getting a bill pass or a policy. So it's my first time, it's my first time. So I reached out to Ian. First of all, I reached out to Ian, the cramer who is in Washington DC and he knows all about these type of things. And I said, who do I need to talk to to walk me through the process of getting a bill pass, right? And so he says you need to talk to these different individuals to help you along the way. To make a long story short, the very bill that I was working on to get passed, y'all know what I'm saying.

I told you guys, it's already been passed. Alzheimer's Association passed it three years ago, three years ago in the line when it comes to caregiver. So listen, I'm going to make this really short. I know you're about to get a real short attention span. So I want to talk about, there's a lot of things that Alzheimer's Association is working on when it comes to caregiver. This is serious, it's serious. So it's a serious thing and you guys know it's serious. When Carol comes on issue, I'm going to be talking about my story and what I went through as a caregiver. I was a caregiver to my husband who's passed away. I was caregiver to my father who's now passed when I was caregiver to another family member who is now passed away. So I'm going to be talking about these different isolated events when I was a caregiver. So listen, I'm going to do that when Carol and comes on, but y'all check this out. Alzheimer's Association. This is straight off their website. Alzheimer's Association Center for Dimension, Respirate Innovation Awards more than $4 million

to improve respite care for people, living with dementia and their caregivers. This is so important, oh my goodness. So listen, let me tell you this. This was happened, this comes from Chicago, Chicago. So listen, stay with the story. July 23rd, 2024, so you understand what's going on. July 23rd, 2024, this was passed by the Alzheimer's Association Center for Dimension, Respirate Innovation. So this is an ongoing process. This is something that never stops. It's an ongoing process and never stops because we're always, even until, you know, as long as we're here on Planet Earth, there's always going to be caregivers that is helping someone, taking care of someone. And guess what, it is the caregiver that a lot of times get left out, gets left out of the process. So I want you guys to know, also, also, I want you guys, there was some other information. I want to bring this to your attention. I want to bring this to your attention.

Give me one quick second. In a sense here on Alzheimer'sassociation.org, did you guys know there's an analysis that finds dementia caregivers are more likely to report modifiable risk factors that increase their own risk for getting dementia? So what that means is if you have been a caregiver, you are at a higher risk for getting dementia. Now, not only that, you know, I'm very transparent. I just say it just like it is. So you understand what I'm saying. Listen, stay with the story. My family has a very high risk or rate of getting dementia. Pretty much all my aunts and uncles have had dementia. That's why I'm really so an advocate when it comes to Alzheimer's and dementia because my aunts and my aunts and my uncles all have had dementia. All have had dementia. All have had dementia. All have had Alzheimer's slash dementia.

So listen, that's why I've always been very passionate about Alzheimer's dementia. I've always been an advocate with these things. So listen, y'all, listen. And so my point for continuing to talk about if you never heard me, talk about it, you missed a boat. I've always talked about my work with being an advocate when it comes to being a caregiver. So when you're a caregiver, when your work is done, a lot of times you left alone and you've got to deal with a lot of stuff. You got to deal with a lot of stuff. One of my friends was a caregiver to someone. I don't know what the person had that he was a caregiver to that person passed away. And so of course, he went through all of the anxiety. He went through all the grief and some depression because it always happens when a person passed away. You have all these different things that happened to you. So listen, this is my point, what I want to say to you. I'm going to be sharing my story from a caregiver's experience, point of view, and advocate. I'm going to be sharing my story when Carolyn comes on.

Some of the things that I went through, and you guys know when my husband, he was the first one when my husband passed away, you know, I was his caregiver. And for one year, you've heard me talk about this. I slept for a solid year. I did have a job so I did go to work, come home, get in the bed, go sleep. Get up next morning, go to work, come home, get in bed, go to sleep. That was my cycle for a whole solid year. I pretty much just slept the year away, right? And so then my dad had heart trouble and he had dementia. And so I was with him. I left where I was and came to take care of him for a duration of time. And I would give him his medication. I would cook, clean, give him his medication, and things of that nature. And so it wasn't difficult then, because I was, I was saying my late, my late 30s, my late 30s, well, when I was saying care, my dad. So, you know, and you've got to, I want to say this, you've got to know this. When you're a caregiver to someone with all times

or dementia, each patient, of course, is different. Whatever their personality is, when they get their diagnosis and when it gets to late stages of dementia, it's going to be different. So whatever their personality is, it gets accelerated, it gets accelerated. So what I mean by that, if you don't understand, if they are very tidy person, if they had been a very tidy person before their diagnosis, after their diagnosis, and sometimes they will become a hyphen, they will become hyphen. So there are times this is going to be to a whole new level. It's going to be different. And so you have to know what to look for and what to watch out for. So let's, let me get to the music. Let me get to the music. And then I'm going to talk about some more things. I don't have a date yet for when Carolyn is coming on board to talk to us, but I'm going to keep you, I'm going to keep you abreast of when she's coming. As soon as I get that date from her, I'm going to give it to you. So let's, I got some music for you. This is Complicated by Camille.

I'm so motivated. Yes, now we're so true. I'm just finally free. And we are falling in love. That's falling in love for you. Yes, I live only you. I'm falling in love. That's falling in love for you. Yes, I live only you. So complicated. Now we got to do goodbyes to you, baby. And you're so very happy. Yes, that's very true. This can never, ever be old. What is burning? I'm just burning. One more better day. I'll start the challenge. I'm just burning. I just got to get over it. I just got to get away.

I just got to get away. I just got to get away from you. Yes, I live only you. Yeah, I don't feel it. I don't have any friends. I want to be noted and noticed by them. I heard I am him. No looking at me. They got to be awake. I can make friends. And I don't like the way that I look. I've been made fun of some time. My self-esteem is what they look.

I wish I was a model. I don't go but I should I go rub a big every come a big. Oh, no, I can't do that. If I'm a little too skinny or a big too fat, or my slur isn't high enough, or I need to wear my air. Just a little bit slower than my back. No, I can't do that. I'm a shop like a taxi. Be a split weight or be a solid guy. That's done. Yeah, I'm saying Hillary does. Whatever I'm going to do, is it going to be enough? The pressure that goes through is rough is up. Should I go in with a lot? So go take a heart with a party head. Rock a bimsy ball. Let's sweat, do I fit in? I'll let you out. I'm going to do it out. And become a hooligan. Oh, booty out. And become a big warrior. Whatever you do, yeah, we here for you. So what you're going to do with the pressure? Come on, try. It's coming up for you. Come on, the time. Life's a pressure. I hope it's coming up to you. It's time here. Life's a pressure. I think you've been me up in your time. It's coming, it's coming, it's coming, it's coming, yeah. Pressure, time to focus on my dreams. I can't do stupid or I'll be another meme.

What can I do to be seen? Become lean. Play ball on the basketball team. It seems I should be Snoop, D-O-W-G. Do my snoop dance. They will all look at me. Nah, I could be just like M&M. Then I could be friends with other friends. Hold the proverb, do something else. Re-apox your name with the wind the bell. From undefeated. I have so much wine. Nah, I just need to be myself. Now, those guys over there to meet. Got a lot of money. Celling tree. Ooh, I can't do that. No jail for me. Flunk out of school. Man, no fellin' me. Cause I always wanted to go to college. Hang with my rosette. Get some knowledge. They in school. Keep goin' followers. Whatcha gonna do when the pressure comes to my heart? Pressure. It's coming up to you. It's time. Life's a pressure. I hope it's coming up to you. It's time here. Pressure. It's coming up to you. It's time here. Pressure. It's coming up to you. It's time here. Pressure. It's coming up to you. It's time here. Pressure. It's coming up to you.

It's time. Life's a pressure. I hope it's coming up to you. It's time here. Pressure. It's coming up to you. It's time here. Pressure. It's coming up to you. It's time here. Pressure. It's coming up to you. It's time here. It's time here. It's time here. It's time here. All right, all right. That is pressure, pressure, peer, pressure. All right. So you guys all was talking about Carolyn coming on the show. So when she locks in and confirms the day, we'll let you guys know. My name's Mackenzie and I started to go fund me for the adoptive mother of a nonverbal autistic child. The mother had lost her job because she wasn't able to find adequate care for this autistic child. So she really needed some help with living expenses,

paying some back bills. So I launched a go fund me to help support them during this crisis. And we raised about $10,000 within just a couple of months. I think that the surprising thing was by telling a clear story and just like really being very clear about what we needed, we had some really generous donations from people who were really moved by the situation that this family was struggling with. If you're married, you have a spouse. You don't know. But the thing is, as soon as you get a diagnosis, I want to say that. As soon as you get a diagnosis and you know that is terminal and you're going to be a caregiver for the long haul with that person, you want to make sure that you're going to be taken care of. You want to make sure that you're going to be taken care of. I'm not talking about, you know, loads of money. That is not what I'm talking about. You want to make sure that your health is going to be taken care of. You want to make sure that things are set up in motion years ahead of time before that time comes. You want to make sure that you've got six months. So if you're

working wise, if you're working a full-time job and you and your husband gets a diagnosis and something happened, you want to make sure that you're putting your paycheck or half, 5% of your paycheck. If you can't afford a way to make sure that you have six months' cushion time to rest and let your body heal because you're going to need that. If you don't have anybody to lean on, you know, it's going to be very difficult. It's going to be very difficult. And a lot of caregivers may know that and some may not know it. Some may not have anybody to lean on. But if you don't, you want to make sure that early on that you know what you're going to do because if you don't, you're going to be in a dire, straight situation that you don't have anything to lean on or no one to lean on. So that's really important. That's really important. And I'm speaking from an advocate standpoint. That is what I'm telling you. That is what I want you to understand. And so you need to have those things in place for yourself. Sometimes things happen, of course. You know, you don't know maybe the wife gets sick and the husband has to take care of the wife. And so you

want to make sure children, if the parent, one of my friends took care of both his parents. He took care of his mom and his dad. He was caregiver to both of them. Then he was caregiver to his brother. And now he's caregiver to somebody else. And sometimes people end up being caregivers for more than one person. But you've got to have something in place, you know, for when that time comes. You hear what I'm saying? What I'm talking about. And so it's really important. It is essential. It is essential to have those things in place. So listen, I got some more music for you. I'm pretty much out of time. Oh, right. So I got some more music for you. I want you guys to dig into this. This is, I haven't played this in a while, but I love this song. This is Prima Donna. Yeah, I'll take a listen to this.

No, Sarah, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
