Welcome back to yet another episode of the evolving hockey podcast. My name is Sean, and as always, I'm joined by the evolving wild twins, Josh and Luke Youngren. It's going on, Sean. What's up? I said it first this time. I know you did. You switched it up. I was waiting on that. I didn't want to throw you off again. I knew that it threw you off last time to have Luke talk first. Josh, your video is kind of glitching a little bit. My video is glitching. Your video is glitching only on Luke's screen. Let me tell you how. Luke, I think it's the sweat from the R studio. No, no. Am I glitchy for you, Sean? No. Okay. Then that's fine. I don't know. I updated my Mac OS a couple nights ago, and I've been, I don't know, with the Mac OS this is. This is not a Windows sponsorship, by the way. No, Mac is Apple, Sean. Anyway, I know that, but you're having to help their, I will say be a Windows
sponsorship. Yeah, preemptively, I will, I will say that I hope that the episode goes fine, because I know there were a lot of people who were complaining about the new Tahoe release for the last couple months. So I just said, put it off. Tahoe release. That's the, that's the new OS. Don't you know Mac OS? They're all named after like, that's a vehicle. It's also a, a national park. I think. It's a lake. They played hockey there. Yeah. All of the Mac OS releases have names that are, I think they're like all net parks, I think, or national. Well, I don't know if they're national parks. What? It's Ventura. There was Yosemite, Yosinoma, Monterey. I don't know. These are the ones recently. Anyway, so up front, but we are here. It is Monday, March 9th. It's a, we're a little early, just, and Sean told us to get here early, and we were, we got here kind of early. And then he said, I, when you think about it, it just said it's five o'clock somewhere. I know. And Sean was like, oh, I, could we do earlier? I was like, sure. And so we had to kind of change things around. And this is on top of daylight savings time, which I didn't say can we do early. I asked a question of why we did eight o'clock with the reason already, with the reason in
the question. Okay. Yeah. And maybe that was my mistake. Anyways, I was just like, how did we settle on eight o'clock and it's eight o'clock Eastern? And, you know, then I remembered it, and I was like, am I correct? And you're like, do you want to move the podcast up? And, and we settled on half an hour, which really is like sort of on time. Because if we're to start a podcast at eight o'clock Eastern, we are starting it. It's seven fifty seven right now. So like, we're basically starting on time for once. I mean, kind of. It's almost, it's almost seven central, which is when we were supposed to start it, we always would chat and chitchat before and but yeah, there's on top of daylight savings time. And I'm going to say for the first time, since I can remember, I've legitimately screwed up daylight savings times now two days in a row, because we set all of our clocks back, wait a head ahead, spring forward, spring forward, spring forward, except shut up, shut up,
except my for some somehow the last two days, I've forgotten to set my alarm clock in my room ahead. So the last two days has been an hour behind, and I just didn't realize it. And I've woken up thinking it was an hour earlier, both days. So I've been getting great sleep. Let me tell you, because I don't know how I did it. Don't ask me why. And I normally were both completely different people in the morning like for us. When I wake up, I am just not myself when I am like waking up. So like if I'm in like that early, like, you know, your alarms going off and you're snoozing at whatever. I just don't think, I don't think normally. Josh told me he dreamed that he, there was an actual tornado. I woke up at noon today, and I was convinced there was a tornado that was coming towards our house. And I was like, and it was so vivid, I, these are my dreams. I either don't remember my dreams or the most anxious dreams. I think you got the wrong kind of mushrooms. No, no, no, my dreams are like, I always have anxious anxiety dreams. That's it.
I don't have fun dreams. I don't know. Maybe most people don't have fun dreams. I never have fun dreams. I went off a ski jump that was too big and now I'm 60 feet in the air and I'm going to die in a fall. Or like, I'm, I'm a tornado or we're on the lake up north and there is a 30 foot tsunami wave that's going to flood the cabin I'm in. Those kind of, those are my dreams. Anyway, we were up a, yeah, we've been, you know, trade deadline already happened. We were up, I got a little caught up with Luke and I've been getting back to cataloging our physical media collection, Sean. It's funny. We've been going through our cassette tapes. You know what a cassette is? You ever listen to a cassette tape, a cassette tape, Sean? Yeah. Yeah. And I don't know. Years ago, Luke and I had a hobby of going around to use music stores and buying like cassettes of records that either we liked or were weird because like they were a dollar. Yeah. And our car had a cassette player in it. It was a used, I hated this car. Mercury Sable. It was a terrible car. Ooh. Terrible. Terrible. You don't like a Mercury Sable? It was an awful war.
It's just a gas mileage. And it was like a 20 bed. It was, yeah, it was a sedan V6 2004 Mercury Sable or something. Yeah. And remember, and it had a cassette tape. And so we would go around to music stores and buy cassettes to play them. And over the, I don't know, each one we bought was like a dollar. And now, I don't know, man, if you have some, I'm just speaking to our listeners out there. If you got some old cassettes, you should check the prices on some of these. Go to Discox. Look them up. Because dude, some, somewhere there is a crowd of people who wants to buy cassettes. I don't know what is going on. So we made, this is, we've invested, Sean. This is called money. We've made a great investment into about 150 cassettes that I don't play. I don't have a cassette player anymore. No, we do. Well, it's in our basement. It's not hooked up. Yeah. So that's been our, that's been our hobby. Luke's been going through looking at some CDs we have. But I'm just going to say, there is like, you know, people argue about sound quality between CD and vinyl, which is very comparable, I would say, cassettes sound not good. I mean, it's definitely a vibe though for like things that came out in the middle of
like albums that were released in the middle of the cassette era. It's kind of fun to have them on cassette. But anyway. Yeah, sorry. That's been what, that's been our weekend. It's just going through watching Spocky. You watched the, the Saber's Lightning game last night at all. I mean, I saw the highlights. We turn it on randomly. We were hanging out or like just on the background. And it was like the start of the third and like, or like it was into the third. And the lightning were up five four, right? Yeah, I think. And I mean, the third period, the game added eight seven, the Saber's one. It was an absolute mess of a game. And it was just hilarious to watch it because every time you looked away, it would be a new goal or something. It was just like, it was insane. I actually meant to go and look at our chart for it. I don't know if you looked at that, Luke. I forgot to. I meant to, but it was like, yeah, it was a really funny game. And I had, I was posting about this on Blue Sky, but I had, I have a UPL on my fantasy team.
And he was in for the whole game, gave up seven goals and got the win. And he was negative 7.3 or I actually, he got the win. So he was a lot better than he got three and a half points, but so he was only negative four. But I forgot to put him in. So he was on my bench, which was kind of funny. It wouldn't have mattered there were seven goals collectively scored in the second period. And then seven more goes goals collectively scored in the third period. There's one goal in the first period. And it was like, yeah, Buffalo's up 1-0 and then it, it was a nuts. And for the record, Tampa, Buffalo put a 5.2 XG, all situations, a par model, and Tampa had 4.45. And the actual goals were a collective seven goals above, or, yeah, I mean, like they scored it. Anyway, crazy game. The Sabers are the absolute talk of the town. Maybe in the talk of the season, all year, I feel like I feel like the Sabers are the NHL. Nobody believed in us. You're like, wait, aren't you, you're including empty net attempts there?
No. Yeah. Yeah. Cause it was, it was even outside the empty net attempts, basically, it was 4.66 Buffalo. Yeah. Yeah. No, it was. Yeah. I said all situations. So that's like, you know, I'm just saying relative. I don't think there weren't a ton at the end of the game of the empty net attempts. But, anyway, we can save, should we save, should we get to trade deadline stuff right now and save some of the NHL talk for later, because, right, this is our trade deadline recap. Yeah. How will you start, how will you start with the, with the Sabers trade deadline? How, as the biggest Buffalo Sabers fans out there, how do you feel about it? They traded for remind me, let me, let me just make sure I have, uh, you got Pearson, Derek, and Stanley and Shen, I think, were their main acquisitions, right? Yeah. Maybe. Um, which is the perico deal. Yeah. It was leaked and then felt the room. Yeah. There was, and then there was the funny, what was that funny quote from perico about how he can't, he was like asked about it and he was like saying how he take it, what was
the quote from him about how he can't, he takes, like, it takes him a day to like make a decision on like some menial tasks and he was like, I couldn't, it was more or less he was saying that he, he didn't feel it, he felt like he was rushed and he couldn't make a decision about whether or not he wanted to go to Buffalo or not, um, something like that. Uh, but yeah, I, I, my view on the Sabers acquisitions was kind of, kind of similar to how I viewed the entire deadline, which is kind of like a, either a combination of like why and also like what, like I, okay, like that, that was, that sums up my view on how this deadline was like, it's funny with the Sabers because like the number of jets fans I've seen complaining about Logan Stanley, I just like, and then I'll like look like he's having his best season so far, uh, based on like per our X R, but like, like he's at 1.8 X car, but he has been negative, he has been below replacement level, every other season of his NHL career and he was exceptionally bad in the 21, 22 season and last year.
So like, that is like in my, uh, head, I'm like Logan Stanley, why are the Sabers getting Logan Stanley, um, but like, I don't know, it's like kind of like, well, whatever. It's like, that was like how I felt like the, honestly, the only trade that really kind of jumped out to me, like when it happened was John Carlson to the, the ducks, um, we were kind of talking about this. I'm going to skip right off the, no, but I'm just right off the stage, but I'm just saying that was fine. I mean, that was the only trade that really surprised me, I guess. So like, or like felt like, oh, wow, that's a big move for the ducks. So I'm just saying the trade to felt like, I mean, it makes more sense going back to the avalanche, but I guess to stay, Sean, let's stand the Sabers, so we're going to keep on the same. I mean, I never want to stay on the Sabers, there's just like, he just bounced, it caught me off guard a bit. I, I, the thing was they got, I, they got a lot of players. None of them were, first of all, none of them were on our big board. So, you know, that's, that's first of all, first strike against the Sabers. But like, I don't know, it was kind of like, I don't know, Luke Shen has not been good
this year and he hasn't particularly, he's kind of older, he hasn't been particularly great. I mean, was it Luke Shen? Yeah, it was Luke Shen, right? Do you think this braid in? Well, I just saw, there's, there's, and then I had to kind of go, like Sam, Sam Kerrick has actually been solid. I mean, but I don't know, I think the Sabers are a team that is, oh, sorry, I saw, Braden Shen also got traded. He was traded to the Islanders. That was the one I was thinking of. So both the Shen's moved. Yeah. The Shen's moved around. So yeah, I don't know. I mean, like, honestly, I didn't really feel like my overall take on like, what happened this deadline was kind of like, I don't think any team, like, it didn't seem like there were really any lobs, huge lobside to trades. First of all, there were outside of Carlson and Codry, Trochec didn't get traded. There was a lot of like, you know, rumors around Peraco. I don't really, I didn't hear a lot of other rumors about potential other big names getting traded. I was, it was funny in our article. Now that we can move to John Carlson, I suppose, is I, I actually would, I would, was going to write about Carlson.
And I looked around just to kind of get us a sense of whether or not, like, capitals writers or fans or whoever thought there was a good chance that he would get dealt. And pretty much the consensus was, there's no way the capitals were going to trade in John Carlson. That was kind of like, because I, I'm not, I haven't followed the capitals that much this year. And, and so I was like, oh, we should write about John Carlson because he's like, I don't know. I don't know. Uh, within the current class of defenseman, kind of curious now actually where he kind of ranks among our career defenseman numbers, uh, go look that up really quick. Well, I was looking, I was kind of, well, I was like, looking at, I'm doing on the spot here trying to research all these Sabers players, the new Sabers players, because like, Tanner Pierce, I mean, I just like, I just don't know why some of these trades were made, but it's like, wow, whatever. But they're also kind of like deaf players that aren't like going to be making a huge impact. So it's probably like a swap in, swap out kind of thing. Um, but yeah, Carlson has been his entire career. He's first year in our database is the Oh nine, 10 season.
Uh, and since then, through 17 seasons, including this season, he's never been below replacement. I would say on average, he's, he's probably average somewhere around nine or 10 X car. Like he's, he's been extremely consistent. Never, obviously like not a defensive defenseman. He's like all offense for the most part. Um, but like, he, I was gonna write about him. And then I was kind of convinced myself based on doing a little bit of digging that I shouldn't because there wasn't a likelihood that he was going to get traded. And then he did. And so yeah, I mean, I, like, I like the, the ducks are just a fun, like kind of a funny team. Like they're, like clearly they're kind of trying to make the jump, you know, uh, into that, like, uh, as like, I mean, I, I, you don't blame them because they're taking advantage of how bad the Pacific has been this season. They're leading the Pacific right now. Who would have thought the ducks? I know the second week of March would have been leading the Pacific's only for the Oilers and the negative 10 gold differential would not make it would not be in a wild card position
in the East. Yeah. And it's like, I just, I didn't, I mean, our preseason projections just did not expect their eight and oh and shootouts. Yeah. Yeah. Let's go. And a lot of that is powered by their young players. So stall has been great, uh, this year and I don't even know. I wonder if he's, if, like, we, we had the ducks projected at 76 points, um, and we currently have them projected here. Sorry. Let me get my team point. Let me get the team point projection. They've only had 20 regulation wins. Now they're, we have them projected to finish with 93 points, um, within, they're in an 88% chance to make the playoffs currently projected to finish above the Oilers. Um, it's just like, I, I don't know, this season is just again, how many times have we talked about that it's, it's just like a weird season. Like, I don't, I don't get what's going on, you know, like seeing the top of the Pacific being led by a team that has a negative 10 gold differential is just kind of a little
wild. It's 25th in the league and regulation wins. Yeah. No, the ducks and also like, honestly, looking, I was just looking at goalie guard this year. They're probably pretty high. He's not actually been that great from a guard standpoint. I am somewhat, uh, my view of him has been somewhat, uh, I guess changed because I have him on my fantasy team. So he's been like winning because they've won all these shootouts, which is just hilarious. And so, and I don't know the ducks, but they're going for it kind of. I mean, they didn't make a ton of other moves at the deadline. I think they got, uh, who did I see? They traded, uh, Ryan strome away. And then I think they made a trade with Boston, right, Sean? Um, they got Jeffrey, Jeffrey Veele from the, from the Bruins, uh, who I will be honest, I don't know. That happened a while ago. Did it? Oh, that was in January. Sorry. I'm just kind of like, uh, going through the trade tracker to make to search teams. So they just traded for Carlson. Um, but yeah, I don't know.
It's like, usually you kind of want to be like, oh, after like the deadlines, like who's a winner and who's a loser of the teams. And it's like kind of just seem like some just depth pieces got moved around, uh, and, you know, but, um, I like to always compare against like what we, uh, what we had talked about in our trade deadline, uh, our preview article. And so for anyone who didn't listen last week or hasn't checked the site, we put up a, uh, like our kind of trade, like our evolving hockey trade preview on, uh, last Wednesday. I think it was Wednesday. Yeah. We did the episode on Tuesday. Yeah. It was a long day. I was telling Sean this beforehand is it was, I'm right severely mismanaged my time. And we got it done. It was all done. But, uh, and yeah, this year, there were of the 20 players that I selected. Um, I think it was 20 that I ended up putting up there, uh, about, let's see, 10 of them. I think we were traded. Um, and a few of them were even knew we're not going to be traded. Like I, you know, Charlie Coil, we talked about last week. And I think there had been reports that he was just that Columbus was still trying to fight
it. You know, they went for it. They traded for Connor. Yeah. We got traded after all this year. We got a good player there. Yeah. Um, and so, but all that was the return on that. Let me, yeah, here. I'll just quickly go over what our big board, kind of the results were, is that of the, I think these are the ones that I noted and I may have missed one or one player. I don't think I did. But, um, Jason Dickinson was traded, Blankenberg was traded, um, Michael Bunting, John Carlson, uh, Connor Murphy, who was traded earlier. But like it was kind of around the time I started working on this Bobby McBand was traded Nick Felino and Bobby Brink. So technically, maybe the wild one in this whole trade deadline, because they traded for two of the players that we identified, I think I don't think Bobby Brink, Nick Felino, huge wild guys. Both Felino is on the mini Minnesota now. I know, which is funny. Also, we learned, I think I knew this and forgot it is that Marcus and Nick play for different national teams. Marcus plays for Canada and Nick plays for the U.S. and I don't know why, um, but yeah. So, but yeah, I don't know.
So those are the ones that we traded of the U.F.A.s that we had identified, the ones that didn't get traded, uh, Charlie Coil, uh, Ilya McKayev, um, and then Kyrushchev and Trevor Van Riemstein. I don't think TBR got traded. Um, so those are the ones that were U.F.A.s that we identified that didn't get traded. The R.F.A.s are like we mentioned last week, usually the ones that are less likely to be traded. Um, and I was kind of, yeah, it's kind of interesting that of the R.F.A.s only Bobby Brink was traded because I did think there was a potential like we had talked about that, like Nick Robertson, um, or Michele or like, I think even, you know, Perfetti was another one that we talked about in the article that seemed like he's just kind of not necessarily worked out the way what the Jets, uh, have, you know, would have liked and so it seemed like the Jets are kind of identifying there may be sellers right now and that should have identified that. I know. Yeah. So yeah. So that's the, that's the recap on the. Well, they sold, they sold Logan Stanley.
What is that? Luke Shen and Luke Shen, um, which are probably good, uh, hold on. Who did they get? See, this is the thing. There were so many that happened. It's hard to do. So Stanley and Shen went to Buffalo for Jacob Ryzen, a second round pick from the 27 NHL draft in a conditional fourth round. So it's like, I don't know. And for Isaac Rossin, Rosen, Rosen, Rosen, probably, Andrewton, Eckerton, Eckerton, Eckerton. Um, yeah. So I don't know. I, I kind of saw the trades come up and it was like, yeah, okay, I mean, it didn't really, you know, that was kind of my take on the trade deadline is like just a kind of more depth pieces moving around, um, for picks and stuff. And I always have a hard time evaluating trades when it's like picks and prospects are mainly involved, um, just because that's not our area of expertise. So I kind of just didn't like, yeah, yeah, I don't know what you're, what's your take
on the, well, sorry, you were, were you going to say something there? Well, I kind of missed this one. I guess I didn't realize it that Nicholas Walgott traded. Yeah, I saw that. Colorado. I think, I mean, I think I saw it at the time. It just didn't, didn't land in my head. So that's the, uh, it's the Mariner trade that's not quite working out at the leaves. It's not really working out for the night either, but not quite working out for the leaves. Yeah, it was funny. Josh just updated our fantasy projections, um, and the over-under tracker, I think Mariner was third under hit performing based on our projections. Yeah, I think it was first was Kent Johnson. I think Mariner might have been second, honestly. Um, he is on my fantasy team, and I did not realize that he has been that bad this year. Like, or that under performing, um, he's been solid. The thing is in our draft. I think he fell pretty like a lot compared to where we at him in our fantasy projections. So I just kind of waited on him and then took him with like a, I don't know, fifth or sixth round pick, I think. Yeah, I mean, I think the other one that I was seemed to be, I guess in terms of a team
that seemed to be kind of a, a big seller was the flames. Like they, they traded, uh, they traded cadre. Well, you guys would term left on the contract, too, because, yeah, with the weaker and, with, uh, Nazum Paddry. Yeah, and I actually like, and they, they acquired Ryan's throne from the ducks, which is like a little bit strange, but, um, yeah, they, they moved weaker in cadre, uh, and I also, uh, you know, we're happened to weager this year. Dude, I was looking at it man, so good. And then this year, he just is not, I don't know, yeah, he, he was from, honestly, from like 1920 through 24 last season. He was probably averaged like around 15 X car. Sean's laughing. It's a long time to play. Yeah. And then this 1920, huh? Oh my god. So every time I can't get, I was like, look, I wasn't looking at Sean and I, I, he, anyway, uh, so why the mic just like, doesn't, what my laughs come through.
You don't laugh, you need to laugh into, laugh with your chest. Yeah. Yeah, you know, Sean, we've talked about this before that Luke and I have extremely vote like loud resonant laughs, and I, I do acquire it. Yeah. I acquire laughs. No, I, we've, have we said this in the podcast about how people would hear us laughing across campus during college. They could hear us like for like a block or two away. I'm pretty sure I can hear you from Minnesota. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely. It's not my fault. My mother gave me a very resonant voice. You know, that, that's, that's, that was something that I was gifted and I, I've accepted that gift. But anyway, a resident voice, resonant, you know what the term resonant means, resonance. You know what, you know what vocal resonance is, Sean? Cloud. It's, it's, it's like what it's, it's, so from a classical singing perspective, you, you would, you kind of want to support your voice from a deeper part like you kind of almost breathe in from like your diaphragm and which kind of gives you that. And then you, I, so when I was in college, I, I was briefly a music ad major before I
turned to trombone performance. I was a music education major for a year. And one of those classes was I went and took vocal lessons and my teacher who was a couple of years older, she was a, I was a, she would have been a senior. So she was only a year older than me. She had us do these exercises and the way she's like, okay, we need to start engaging that resonance that like full voice and she would say, all right, I want you to go like, mmm, chocolate, mmm, like from the back of your voice, she'd like, think about like you're thinking about, you know, and I always like laugh about that like, mmm, chocolate, mmm. I couldn't come close to that. Yeah, exactly. So I have, she complimented me and she said you could have been a good vocalist if you wanted to, you know, pursue that. I'll tell you our mom has a very, that's why I rely on the mic. The mic is going to figure it out. Exactly. That's how it works. You buy more money, you spend on a microphone, the better your voice becomes. Yeah, exactly. Um, anyway, sorry, I interrupted myself. Yeah, what were you talking about? I don't remember. Oh, so it was 1920. We were talking about Weger. Weger has been phenomenal for six years or seven, five, five seasons give or take.
And this season, he's just, now he's one X card below replacement so far. So yeah, I mean, the flames have, I think, I, I did think they did a pretty good job and identifying that they are like one of the worst teams in the league and they kind of got some picks and pieces for players that are not necessarily going to be long term with them. I guess Weger is an interesting one that I'm very curious to see how, uh, how he plays out going forward. Uh, like, I don't know if it was just a scenery change or, I don't know, it's, like, I've seen this with a couple players this year who are defensemen like Jalen Chatfield has been having like a really down year. He's just been like at the bottom of our X card chart, like, table like every time I look at it and it's like, not the bottom. He's like climbing a little bit, but I'm like, what happened there? And then like, Luke Hughes, I haven't checked in on Luke Hughes in a while, but he has also been having a rough, rough go of it this year. Honestly, I don't know even know really what happened with the devils. I just, I mean, I guess he's, ah, he's, he's pulled up a little bit.
He's, he's pulled up his performance a bit since he, the very, very, you know, the contract you're, uh, sleeping in, not taking it seriously after you got your big, uh, you know, first contract in the NHL, you know, you can't talk. You sleep in more than anybody else. I know, but like, well, how do you define sleeping in? Yeah. Cause if you go to bed late enough or you're really sleeping in, yeah. Yeah. Huh? Like what is sleeping in for you, Sean? Is that, do you define sleeping in as more of a, how much sleep did you get or like when do you expect to be up in the morning and if you sleep past that, uh, when you get up? So if you get up, it's five, you get up at four in the morning, three in the morning Sean gets up every day and, so if you sleep till six or run in a cold flunge and, uh, you're one of those morning runner freaks. No. You know, I'm not. Anyway. Okay. Back to the deadline. Uh, the other one, I honestly, I like the way my relationship with the wild this year has
been kind of funny because they've, from our numbers, have not, oh, Sean, please don't do that. Yeah. Please stop doing that. Oh, that would, that would interrupt every conversation we ever had. That was scary. That was like, like just out of nowhere, Sean fake laughing at that meme. Um, why was I that really distract me now? I don't even know about the wild about our relationship with the wild this year. Yeah, is that from a lot of our metrics and I think some of their moves over the last like year or two, like I have just not necessarily been fully in love with what they've been doing. Um, and this season, like, didn't really matter because they've, they've become, you know, and obviously they, they made the big move. The Quinhee's move, which you got to kind of give props, you know, four because they're Quinhee's just a phenomenal player and they're clearly like going for it. But the deadline was funny because I like looked at some of their moves and like, you know, whatever. But then I don't know. Bobby, Brank and Nick Felino are actually like pretty solid ads among the available free agents. Um, and they're kind of in that way, trying to round out the depth, which I think has
been like their biggest trouble or problem for, you know, like last year in the playoffs against Vegas, like their top line or two, like top two lines will actually look like really good. Um, and then the depth is what kind of lost them at series. And I think that's been a little bit of the problem this year. I think adding Nick Felino and it'll be funny to have the Falinos on, uh, on the team, you know, and see how they play. Uh, I think Marcus has been hurt so they haven't played, um, together so far. Uh, but I, you know, Luke, Luke and I being brothers, I even, they're not twins. I do have to respect brothers when they're on the same team. I think that's fun. Have you heard about the twins that there's twins that are like prospects that are coming up? Do you know about these guys, Sean? That's who you? No. They're like old. No, I think is it this year's draft? Was it runk? Is that the last name? I think so. Is that what it is? Hold on. Let me check this out. Let me let you know. Because they're projected to like go one of them in like late first round, the other in the early second round.
I, what a hockey one. Sorry. I, I, it's the rock, the rock twins. Sorry. I typed in runk twins and at Google auto corrected it to drunk twins. And then I had all these weird results. Yeah. The, the rock twins, Marcus, it's another Marcus and Liam are this, we, I said, I made a joke. I said, I'm sick. All these brothers, these normal brothers being in the NHL. I want some twins to get back in the NHL. And then we had a couple of people come and say, it's your year, the, the rock twins are actually like, and I, I, you're the twins. I think that, I think people were commenting that given Vancouver's position in the draft, the picks they have, they have the wild second round pick this year. And then they're going to be one of the, you know, uh, or no, I think they have the wilds first, yeah, they have the wilds first round pick this year, don't they, from the Quinn use trade? I think. So if, if the wild go far enough and the Vancouver and stays this bad, Vancouver is in a position
to pick both twins, uh, in the draft is my, I'm sorry. And then we'll pick them in between then. I mean, I, it's got to happen again. Let me just tell you, the Kinnux sub right now is really considering how Vancouver can go after the rock twins. I'm just saying. Well, they're not good. I mean, I don't know. I think they're twins. They're, they got to think about twins that get along is that when you put them together, their power becomes exponentially stronger. When you play them together on the same line, the chemistry is just, it, it, when you can't be overlooked. So them together or them individually, they probably are being ranked properly. But if you put them together, they probably, their draft standing should probably shoot up to like fifth and sixth overall, you know, third and fourth overall. I'm just saying to anybody, anybody out there who's considering these, uh, making some moves to get to pick these players, because I can guarantee you there'll be, I mean, you know, now I'm just, this is all speculated. Yeah.
So the Kinnux have, they have two firsts this year, two seconds. And I think they'll, they do have the wild pick, which is going to be a late first. And I think Liam is technically like kind of ranked higher than Marcus. But like they're both kind of like friends and later first, well, at least I think Liam, this is just all based on what one Kinnux fan is saying on their subreddit. But they seem artists, they seem like they know what they're talking about. So just like anything on the internet, if there's somebody seems like they know what they're talking about, you should trust it. But I don't know. I'm just saying as twins, Luke and I need to cover it all their, like all their twins in hockey and they doesn't have them very often. Uh, so we'll see if it with, I don't know, Vancouver's got four or five picks in the top, the first two or three. They get easily trained to get back to backpicks. And also, you know, the other teams are going to want the Vancouver to get another set of twins, right? Yeah. All they all slow something going for them, um, speaking of Vancouver, what did they do? I don't feel like I saw there. And it's just going to look, they traded away Tyler Myers. Yeah, that's right, which actually might just, I mean, might just make them, did they
win the deadline by trading my stuff? They got a second and a fourth and they retained one and a half based on the way, based on the way, based on the way Jetsvans talk, it seems like they would say they won because they traded Stanley away. At least some Jetsvans we told Tyler Myers is though. No, I know, I know. Juan, who, where did he go again? There were so many, what a good draft to Dallas. To get draft cap stars, the stars, the stars, the stars were the winners of the deadline with Michael Bonte and the losers of the deadline. Vancouver got a second and a fourth round pick for Myers. Really? I don't know, I guess it is Dallas's pick. So they did hold the one and a half, I mean, yeah, yeah, to be fair, yeah, they, well, sorry, the NHL site doesn't say, doesn't report, retain salary. So I'm not aware of that. Anyway, oh, they got, oh, I'm going to go for a second. I thought they, they, uh, this says they acquired Jack Thompson. I read that as Jack Johnson at first and I was like, oh, that's, that's not, that'd be funny.
And it's not, why do the stars want Myers? Like, why, like, we joked for this last week. It was like that defense, yeah, for that big, that, that sandpaper, that grit, the grit. Yeah, I guess I haven't really paid attention to Tyler Myers. Well, I mean, Hockey, I prefer not to, really, if I can't, if I can get away with it. He's still just as bad, I don't know, looking for here. Yeah, I don't know. So yeah, what you needed to watch, I don't know. The other big one, yeah, was Connor Garland, who has not been good with Vancouver this season. And I don't know what nobody's been good with Vancouver this season. I mean, yeah, yeah, I don't know, like, but then this kind of brings in the, what we were talking about last week is the bad teams and what they did. And Vancouver didn't, like, so in the Garland draft, they traded the Blue Jacks acquired Garland from Vancouver for a third round and a second round pick in 2026, 2028, which is like, I mean, they got, they got something and they traded Myers away, which I would say is just
like always going to be a dub for Vancouver. But they also didn't really do anything with their long-term players. So like, I don't know, it's kind of interesting to think about the, like, what we said last week about the bad teams in the league, like, I don't really think did Chicago really do much? I guess they did kind, well, no, they traded, they acquired Pooley from the Rangers, and then they traded Felino for future considerations. So like, the Blackhawks didn't do anything either. Wait, no, hold on. Didn't really trade Dickinson and Doc for Montiopani first round pick. Yeah, yeah. No, that's a pretty decent move. Yeah, but like, again, I think that this is, and I actually haven't even paid attention to the time. Are we like way over here? We're about to, we're at about time. Okay, so I was actually looking, Tyler Myers isn't per our X-Gar. He's not the worst offense in the league. I mean, he has the, he's like the 28th worst over the last three seasons.
So at a 360 players, he is the 28th worst. Well, Lucas, he has, he's been consistently bad his entire career. No, no, I know that we can say we, but it didn't work for them, but it might work for us. The, the, here's all I say, who's he going to work for? The bonafide, the actual undisputed worst defense within the NHL right now is Ben Shorot. There is, that is based on our model. He is, yeah, way down there, way down there. So Myers has been, he's, yes. Look, you're not wrong. I'm just saying he's not as bad as I was thinking. But I mean, he's still paid the can also to pay in one and a half million dollars play. Ben said that's one of the things we cannot think about him. Let's see here. Hold on. Let me look at his career. Tyler Myers. Yeah, I find something good in it. Can we talk about why the Hurricanes got to laureate though?
Like, can we, was there anything we can after the break? I mean, I can tell you exactly why. Sean is exactly why. That's a good thing. Yeah, because everybody wants to know the official insight, the, the scoop that Sean has on why the Hurricanes acquired and laureate has been in the league for a long time. I don't think I realized how long he's been like, all right, well, without, let's leave you Sean, take us to break. And then we're going to have a big reveal after our break here. Oh, okay. Well, we'll be back for the bigger reveal. All right. See you. Nice. The Volvinghockey podcast is brought to you by Evolvinghockey.com. You're home for advanced NHL statistics on the web. We are back with all of your answers. So it was one answer that was lingering. Oh, yeah, we had a cliffhanger. Oh, yeah, a cliffhanger. What's the story with Delaurier? Delaurier. Bend the league a lot of time. You're done hanging? Huh? Yeah. You're done hanging? Done hanging? It's on the cliff. Oh, yeah, yeah. The short answer is they wanted a physical enforcer heading into the playoffs. Also, one of the worst players in the league, too, I guess. You know what? By Eric Tolskie explained it simply. That this adds depth and experience to our forward group. Nicholas, not Nick, not Delaurier. Not Mr. Delaurier. Nicholas is a strong physical player who plays with an edge. Factors that become even more important as we get to the postseason. It's just, yeah, it's like to be a potential. They only gave up a seventh for him.
I honestly, I think it's still like a piece ownership. Probably. I think there's only so. How do I put this? I think there's only so far you can go and not win championships with one methodology even if it's working for your owner to sit there and trust it. Yeah. So this was like, this was like in between. I think despite the fact that it was a buyer's market. I don't really know what we're buying out there. You know, I think Tolskie probably rightfully saw that there was really no way to improve his team with any substance. So he wasn't going to like force on trade for a bad player like Luke Shen or Logan Stanley. Right. He was going to sit here and stay calm. But then you also kind of need to add something that maybe your owner whole thing is a good, is the secret to six, is the
onion powder you haven't put into your soup yet. You know, hold on. Let me see. I like what is he even going to play for that? Like, I didn't think they had do you put onion powder in your soup? I don't know. Like, who are they going to make? I don't make soup very often. Are they even going to play him? I don't know. I'm looking at their like their forward lineup. It's like they're all on the fourth line. How much is it going to cost him? I mean, in some sense, it's though. I don't know. It seems like he probably is. It was just a move to make a move. He currently is on the last year of a $1.75 million contract. Which is that contract never. I remember where I was when I saw that contract be announced on free agency. Where were you? I was outside my back yard back yard. You were you were doing backyard Twitter. I think I might have been on a smoke break. Yeah. Which I can say this now is the look at ours. Please, the pre what is new stays? What were you doing at that point? I don't even know. I know you're those. Velo's yeah, we're on four months of no cigarettes.
So shout at us even though I still have a severe nicotine addiction. So it's not like it's gone anywhere, you know. Transforming it. You're evolving it. Hey, yeah, sorry. We don't need to get too much in that delorean. Not very good. Funny enough, that was very out exactly how I thought it would with the flyers. Which is about the least surprising thing that has ever happened. His first year in the league was 1314 with Buffalo. Which is that's quite the team to start your your NHL career with. He cursed from the start. He has played 13 14 seasons including this season. And he's had one season above replacement from our model. Two, oh, two. Yeah, his first season with Montreal and his first season with Anaheim. He put up like three and four X-Gar respectively. So maybe this is the trick that Tolsky has identified is that the first time for season eight plays with a new team. He's actually pretty good impact. Yeah. Anyway, yeah, there's there's the end of our coming formative player. Yeah, the other one. I mean, we haven't really talked about much was like some of the rumored like Trochak didn't move, which I was like, I mean, I was that was the one I was
most interested in to see if one of the Eastern teams is going to or like one of the competing teams is going to potentially try to like, you know, send a big haul. He kind of feels like a Colorado avalanche. Does he not? Yeah, um, it does that does kind of strike me as the kind of team. I mean, what is his contract? Let me let me see his contract. And granted, I like he has not been particularly great the last like this season or last. No, he's going to win faceoffs. Yeah, that is. Faceoff get off. I don't know like the avalanche like they've jammed in a bunch of players like he's got 5.6. He's down to 5.6 to 5 million dollar contract for the next after for until 2829. So like, that's a lot of contract left on Trochak, which I assume like that's kind of a, I mean, that's actually kind of a reasonable contract. But like, you know, they, I don't know what Colorado's camp situation is right now, but that probably is pretty hard to fit in. Well, I don't know.
Was he an as alternative? Was he probably, I don't know. I feel like the avalanche that I've already had. Codry, huh? I'm not losing my mind there, right? Didn't they trade him away? And then they trade. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, it's been I think he's signed. Didn't he signed with with covering for agency? I think so. Let me pull up what he signed there. And now he's coming back on that contract. Yeah, he was not traded. But it's like the avalanche know what Codry is and how they've used him in the past. So it's like the 2019, 2020 season. And then the 2021 and 21, 22 season with Colorado. He's played this season in the last three with Calgary. I'll never forget the 19, 20 season. Yeah. And because that was first of all, do you remember that trade? Well, do you do you remember where you were during the Nazum Catchery trade between Toronto and Colorado?
Don't think so. Wait, he wasn't traded though. Was he? No, well, he got traded for. Yeah, he was traded for, well, Elise. I think actually, Codry has had a better career for it. Tro check. Classic Leafs player who came back. Who else came back? I don't know. I don't know. I really, really remember the two of them. But speaking of like, wait, wait, Tyson Barry. Tyson Barry. There's a very good reason that trade. That's right. Don't ask me anything else about it, apparently. Kelly Rosen went to Colorado. The boy boy? No. No, not your own. I mean, and I just remember when they lost in the bubble to Zavega, or Dallas, and Nichushkin was like literally physically pushing because Naz was so far out of position, because he's always been really bad defensively. He literally like pushes Naz.
But it was like too late to get into position and they lose. And like, Nichushkin was very frustrated. Because obviously he was, he should have won the heart that year. And obviously, he wanted to stand to come to go with it. We had the Naz long down. The 1920 season was our infamous like, that was the dry subtle. I still remember, I still remember the media hype around it. I remember this time, March 7th, pulling into TD Gardening and hearing about it. Well, this is the, the wild thing was that we were, I have very vivid memories around that time, because yes, we had kind of caused a stir with some of our takes around the dry subtle heart campaign. But we also, this is the only time I've ever been skiing out west. We took a trip with some friends out to steamboat. And it was like literally, it would have been six years ago, right? That's crazy. That's wild. It was like, I think that it was the 7th through the 9th
or something that we were in Colorado, or maybe a little longer. Got back that when we were in Colorado, that's when the first COVID case hit Minnesota. And I was like, oh, shit, I was like, stuff's like happening. Flew back home. And we went out to a restaurant on Sunday night when we got in. And then the next day, everything like it was like that. I think that wasn't next day, but like on a Wednesday, like the remember, because it was, it's, no, we'll get, it's the same. The days are lining up again. Yeah. Also, while I'm at it, happy friend, anniversary to Danny. We met in Boston on March 6th, 2020. Shout out, Danny. Shout out, Danny. Shout out, Danny. Well, I love Danny. A huge, huge friend of the pod. Yeah. A friend of the pod. But it was daylight savings, if you remember, too, which probably affected you or whatever it is, whatever it is that we spring forward. Yeah, daylight saving time. Having on our chase. Anyway, just a matter. Yeah, but it was, it was, that was when we lost an hour, too. Yeah, and we got back, and I think it was this week, six years ago, that like the NBA canceled their season.
They, like, it was, everything started like this week, and it would have been like, exactly six years ago. And when we were on that ski trip, we were like still getting bombarded by Euler's fans, like when we were there. And I remember being in our, like, Airbnb or whatever we had. We had 10 guys shoved into like this small house, and it was a, it wasn't a small house. It was fun. We were all shoved in there, though, and we were explaining to our friends, like, what was going on? And they just were like, what are you talking about? Like, yeah, we're talking about like, talk radio in Edmonton was like, shading on us. Yeah. Just laughing. They were all just laughing at us. And I, so I have very vivid memories around the, yeah, that time, six years ago. I'm now, sorry, I'm now just realizing that that was, like, six years ago, which is wild to me. Yeah, I was 30. Six years ago, tomorrow, or the day that this pod comes out, the Bruins beat the flyer. So shout out for the Bruins beat the flyer. Anyway, I think we're pretty much done with our deadline recap. I don't necessarily think that any teams got, particularly, like, I don't know, maybe you can.
I mean, they got Carl Samp. I think, and, you know, honestly, Coddry, very solid player. Yeah. So, like, well, and clearly, I don't remember who he played with at, with in Colorado, with the first, you know, his first pass there, first go around, but they have him slotted with, with McKinnon on the top line right now, daily face-off does. I think he might be hurt, is that right? Because Coddry was in Colorado from 1920 through the 21-22 season here. Let's go check over on the old combos tables on evolving hockey and check out the line. I have a memory of him playing with McKinnon back then, but what did I say? Was it 21-22? Well, he played with, he played with, in 22, his most common was Berkey in the Chewishkin. Oh, yeah, that's right. Do you have it up here? You already have it up. I just haven't got it. Shout out to the whoever made the combos table on old hockey. I made it. But, yeah, I think, like, largely with Berkey,
and then they floated somebody in. Yeah, that was kind of the vibe. Yeah. And then his second most was, yeah, Burakowski and Confer, and then Burakowski and O'Connor. You know, it was Berkey, right? Yes. Yeah, I know that. I'm just saying the full name. Just for anybody who didn't know, because there are some Berk, you know, who isn't a hockey man, like Sean. Yeah, and so, I don't know, and then Landis Gogg and his Chewishkin. So, yeah, they'll probably, I don't know, something like that. He'll fit right back in. The last and most important piece was Blankenberg that the Atlanta Scott, who I was, like, kind of on the trade on the big board. Because as we talked, I don't know if we even talked about him on the podcast. I think we maybe did. Is Blankenberg was a player I didn't really know who that was. And then he popped up in our process, made it on the, you've all been hockey big board, the infamous big board. And then... It's gigantic. Jack, there's some guys. They gave up a fifth round pick for him.
Yeah, and then I saw Colorado and after Blankenberg, I'm like, okay, cool. We weren't crazy. Like, he is a potential target. It's always kind of fun to like see the players that we pick and see which ones go where, just to see like what are objective, like, just equation kind of type of approach. It gives us now kind of another, like, I would say verification on the contract tracking that we have to do now, just because with, like, identifying and like, that there's no standouts. And, you know, it's a good, good, these type of processes are good because, you know, we have to manually track all the contracts now. And that goes into our contract production model. So we need to be extra careful and double. We're talking about how we might have to go back and just double check every single trade we've entered. We have so far since Caprily went down track, like, 650 contracts, I think. I'm pretty sure that's like around there. And it's kind of a pain, although it's gotten, anyway, this is not where we're talking about. Trade deadline over. Now it's time to move on to the play operate
and see how impactful all of these moves were. I mean, Sean, what's your general take on this year's trade deadline? I mean, two words. Okay. I'm hanging on the cliff. Yeah. I know, it's a cliffhanger, right? Hit me. Nothingness. Nothingness. Two words. Save the other word. Two words. Boor-ing. I like it. I'm not leaving. I'm not even to say anything. Thanks. I don't know. Yeah, that was my take on the deadline. Nothing crazy happened. I don't necessarily think that any team got like significant. I mean, you could maybe keep, maybe make an argument, Colorado is like slightly better. I think Dallas is maybe worse. Like, I mean, if they play mine. No, yeah, but fun thing. It's just so good. I mean, bunting. Yeah, he's on the big board. Yeah, I mean, that's pretty much it. Now we're kind of in, are we three quarters of the way through?
Or are we? Yeah, we are. Yeah, I think that median team's games played was like 63 last night yesterday. Yeah. So we've made it that far. And I mean, there are still the races are still kind of close. That's what I was going to say. Like, I think, I think this is an odd season in which the trade deadline sucked. Well, I don't know if the trade deadline's ever good. I mean, I've said that last time. But it extra sucked maybe this year, possibly. Maybe every year it's worse. I was trying to like, like, we didn't really post anything about it because like, nothing really stood out to me. And I kept feeling like I need to say, I should say something or put something out. And I'm like, why is man one said nothing at all? Yeah. I don't know. Shut up trade. Yeah. I commented on the car. Honestly, the Carlson trade was the only one that really seemed like, OK, cool. But I think this is going to be an extraordinary year for playoff races. Oh, yeah. Right? Yeah. Right? You have the really bad teams in the West,
fighting it out. They can't even make the playoffs in the East and the Pacific. But they're fighting it out for a wild card spot. They're all tight there. They're all close. And then the East has a bunch of contenders. I mean, there's really not too many that are like, fully out right now. So I can make a run. The Leafs, the Leafs are not out of it. Shout out to them. They might win. This might be their year. There was one point back of Boston right now. Yeah, this is definitely their year, I think, yeah. OK, it's not, I might not be their year. But there's like a few teams in the running on each side of things. And they're even battling for division spots. So I think this is going to be, even though the, I think the overall level of play is a little bit lower this year. It's just been a weird season. It's been really weird. Yeah, I think this is going to be one though that we're going to have a really good end to the regular season with playoff positioning that should be fun to watch. I'm going to have to leave you on a one-month cliffhanger.
Yeah, I know. I mean, arguably you can make a case. The West is going to be more, it's going to be, it's going to be a mid-off for sure. That's what's going to happen in the West. Yeah, but like it's, it's like, there's still a lot of to see at all right now. Is in a wildcard spot with 67 points. They have, they're like nine points less than what the East wildcard cutoff is right now. And I don't know. They got Bobby McMahon, like maybe Toronto will classify themselves as a Western conference team. Just to make the playoffs. It would be, because now what I'm watching is are the oilers going to drop into a wildcard spot. Because they're like, I mean, Seattle is, they're only three points ahead of Seattle. And I don't know. I'm looking at it. Oilers, oilers, abs would be a fun first round matchup. It would be, that's always been good. Like I'm looking at the West right now, specifically the Pacific. And every team is like 500 over the last 10. Like there is one, the ducks are seven and three over the last 10. And then the knights and oilers are four and six.
The crack in our five and five, the sharks are three, four and three, the kings are three, six and one. The, and then like the flames are four, five and one. The canucks are two, five and three. Every single team in the Pacific except Anaheim has a 500 or worse record over the last 10 games. That's the kind of playoff race that I want to watch. Like is that the time where like there would be like, I mean, because like we're like in like, I mean, are we turning into sharks fans? Because like, the sharks have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs right now. They're only one point back of Seattle. And like, I mean, I know our playoff probabilities are like only 30% for them, but like that could happen. That's definitely like a doable percentage given what the West looks like right now and how bad all the teams are. I mean, if you just look at the West right now and like wrap them of those teams, you, well, Utah's in the central. Utah's legitimate, like a pretty solid game. Utah is a legitimate. LA is up there too, which in Anaheim, these are all teams, all three of those teams are in the top 10 in terms of course,
the four wrap them right now. I think I didn't miss any. So like of the kind of remaining fringe playoff teams, Utah, LA and Anaheim are like all within the top 10. You got Nashville 12th. Like, I don't know, Nashville just can't shoot. That's just been the case for two years now. And then, yeah, Vegas and Edmonton are really funny to me in that they, yeah, I don't know. I don't know. I feel like Stone and I are again. Yeah, I feel like we've been trying to figure out the Pacific all year and it's not figured out yet. And I don't know, I think I might be, I'm definitely the Ducks fan partly because I have Doe, Stone, my fantasy team. Kind of like rooting for the sharks though. They're, I'm rooting for the sharks. I just love watching Celebrini. He's so much fun to watch. And I think Utah, like, yeah, Utah sneaky good team, I think. I also think in the stretch down the stretch here, Luke and I are gonna completely pivot back to being huge wild fans too. I have to do it.
My dad is irritated. I can tell he's been irritated with us because we've not really been watching a lot of wild games this season. And he doesn't get to talk to us about the wild. And so I feel like for my family, I need to be and my friends. Who are into them. I owe it to my family. People in like, you know, just our friends, people talking, they're like, how do you see the wild game last night, blah, blah, blah. They're all hyped up about the wild. I mean, we're talking about like, you know, Anaheim, who do we put on there? I kind of want to root for the sharks right now, you know? But we're probably, you're gonna have to get ready, Sean. Next Monday, we're coming back in hot with wild fandom takes. Like it's gonna start again. Oh boy. I gotta do it. I'm not excited. Because I'm not either. I'm not either. We're watching the PBA too or big, it's big PBA guys. We're big. The tour started up again. The US Open just happened. If you're interested in it, you want to go watch a good step ladder final. Head over to the CW. It's on the CW now and watch the US final or US Open step ladder final from yesterday. Great match. The one from actually the three weeks
so far have been great in the PBA. One of the players who was in the top, he made the top 24. Nick Paid is really from Minnesota. And he was where his jersey is like, is a hockey jersey. It looks like a hockey jersey. But it's like graphics of like the laces on a hockey jersey. He's a big hockey guy too. Anyway. But you're gonna have to get ready, Sean, because I think, I just think we're gonna have to, Luke and I are gonna have to really recommit ourselves for my family and for my friends. For my camaraderie with my family and my friends. We're gonna have to get back into it. I can't keep acting like I'm a wild fan and not watch the wild. So we're gonna have to. I don't act like I'm a wild fan. I don't really anymore. I'm a sabers fan. I need to. We have a month left. I'm a monet fan and a short fan. We got a month and a half less of the season. And I've been a wild fan my whole life. And this is the first season that I've really not paid attention that much to him. And you're gonna have to get ready. I'm just saying, Sean. And I expect the same from you for the Bruins. I think Sean's gonna turn into a big Bruins guy.
Bruins? I have none of the going. Okay. Yeah, you're gonna show up to the garden with your geeky jersey on. Yes. And ready to rock and roll. Yeah, I want Sean to have show up with the geeky jersey. Like that's, you know, that's kind of the bell center this weekend. Okay, that's not the that's not the garden. That's not TD garden. Yeah, it's not TD garden. What are you doing, Sean? We need you for your family to commit back to Boston. Well, my family and I are taking our talons to Montreal. Yeah, your parents are big Canadians fans now. Yeah, anyway, okay. I don't know. We're probably close to be getting with this. Yeah, working geeky had a really good season last year, too. I just kind of do not realize that. I just I forgot about it. No, he's yeah, he's the he's basically that was a top notch. His remember, Seattle didn't qualify him. Yeah, that's right. That was a very good signing from the Bruins. Anyway, yeah, it was a very good signing from the Bruins.
We're talking about wild now. Oh, we haven't even talked about the awards at all. We haven't. We haven't even talked about the Richard Everton. I actually think Sean's like a consistent rejection of Luke. Why don't you talk about awards? Has actually led to Luke not wanting to shift away about my morale to want to bring a new world. Well, how many times a year can you talk about awards? Well, this year we talked about it like not at all. Uh, and currently, I'm guessing it's going to be a shootout between McKinnon and McDavid. Yeah, which is probably not going to be McDavid because the Oilers have been very underwhelming this year. You know, there's that that arbitrary playoff. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, there might be a couple. We got to talk Selkie. We got to talk Vesna. We got to talk, uh, Norris. You know, let's do a little, a little, no, don't sound down and dirty. Uh, no, here we go. Let's, uh, I'm just curious. I want to see it's not Morgan. I do think, Sean, you have, you have, you have shaped Luke into being not as awards focused because every, it's not fun for three years to have your best friends, Sean Ferris, giving him shit. When he brings up the awards, here we go.
This is the top three. Tantal Easter, Evangelist, Evangelist to do that. Jordan and Cairo and then Tom Wilson. Tom Wilson. Yep. Luister Rhinon. Luister. I don't have cousins. OK, OK, cousins. Yeah. What the hell is Dylan? I'm doing. He's kind of a killing it defensively this year. Wait, hold on. Did I know that? Am I confusing him with Petrarcha? Hold on, let me. He's kind of a killing it this year, period. Cousins is having a very good season with Ottawa. Yes. Yeah. I think it's probably, I mean, is it going to be Tom Wilson? I mean, he's, well, Washington's not like a, they're not. I really like, I know he's, he wouldn't be concerned. I really like Luister Rhinon as a, as a defensive forward, particularly like him on the wing. Yeah. Very, very consistent, underrated, high effort, two way forward, that I don't think gets enough credit, even though he's played, uh, on those stand-to-cup teams. My opinion,
I don't think the stats have always backed him up, just because the offense has been subpar. Yeah. His, he's been a sort of defensive player, three, but I don't know. This is our, this is our preview for next week when we get really into awards. And also Luke and I come back with Capriza of Jersey and Luke's got a huge jersey. We're talking big wild effects and big wild fandom. That's going to happen next week. So all you want, I'm going to get a boldie jersey. Boldie. Sorry. We'd probably get Erickson Actors. No, I would go and get a vintage wild third spurgeon jersey. Fair. And Josh would get a needy-writer. I'd get a needy-no. That good, with a good alternate from the mid 2010s, when he had like the best jersey in league. Sean, his, you can't see, he's head back grimacing already. Okay. Are we at 30 minutes? We're probably at time here, yeah. And he's running a past off over ones too, because he's born September 2nd of 98, which would have been 2016 was his first draft. He didn't get drafted until 2017 by the Hurricanes. Anyway, this has been the evolving hockey trade deadline
recap, Extravaganza episode. And yeah, we covered everything and we did a great job. Yeah. Great job, everybody. There's Extravagan. Yeah, it was. Great job, Sean. You did a really good job here. Yeah. Okay. Well, we will be back hopefully next week. Definitely back, because we got to talk about the Minnesota wild next week. I know it was a travel day, and I don't know if you go wrong. But we will be back next week at some point. And we will let you know how the week went at that point. Take it easy, Sean. Yeah. Thanks, Sean.
