Epic Games to Lay Off Over 1000 Employees

Chief Executive Tim Sweeney shared with staff that the company has been spending way more than it earns. This problem started when Fortnite's popularity fell in 2025. These cuts hit hard for workers in the gaming world, where job losses have become common amid shifting player habits. Epic's flagship title drove much of its past success, but now it's weighing on the bottom line. Along with the layoffs, Epic plans to save over $500 million by trimming contractors, marketing budgets, and leaving some jobs open. The company hopes these steps will get spending back in line with revenue and set a steadier path ahead.
