The Freeride World Tour made a big comeback to Haines, Alaska, in March 2026, marking the first visit since 2017 and, the first anywhere in the state in nearly a decade, elite skiers and snowboarders tackled steep, ungroomed backcountry faces north of town, with the whole event only reachable by helicopter but, broadcast live, worldwide. This penultimate stop drew top athletes chasing points for their lines, style, and control. Earlier this week, perfect weather hit early, so organizers bumped up the nine-day window by two days. That men rushing flights for over a hundred people arriving in the remote town, cutting short the usual prep time where riders scout peaks with, binoculars the day before. Locals like those at bars and restaurants tuned in eagerly, picking up fun ski-lingo along the way. Athletes raved about the epic snow and spines, calling it some of their best runs ever, even if they had just hours to plan instead of overnight.
