逾越節對猶太人來說是很重要的節日之一。在很久以前，曾經是埃及奴隸的以色列人受不了埃及人對奴隸無情的打罵，跟上帝祈求希望得到解脫，上帝派了摩西去跟法老王說，但法老王不願意把奴隸放走，上帝因此降下了十災，讚最後一災中，天使會來帶走所有家庭的長子，但上帝透過摩西告訴以色列人，要獻上小羔羊，用牠的血塗在門上，天使就會越過去不會傷害這家人。最後法老也受不了這些懲罰，終於願意放以色列人離開埃及，還他們自由啦。
