Hello, everyone, and welcome to Entertainment Tonight. We are definitely going to get to that, but we are beginning with a morning show, Shake Up, and Return. It's official. Nora O'Donnell is headed back to CBS Mornings. I'm excited to take on this new challenge. What is the goal of bringing Nora back? My understanding is they want to really focus on hard news with the midterm elections coming up. And I think Nora O'Donnell's experience there is something they want to lean into. Nora returns to the morning show on Tuesday. CBS News staff got the word on today's 9am editorial call. And we're told it was met with applause. It's an incredible honor. E-T is also obtained the email laying out Nora's new role, which mentions she's staying on at 60 minutes.

2:00I'm Nora O'Donnell, while joining current anchors, Nate Burleson, and Gail King. Meanwhile, what's happening with Gail? Yeah, I think that's the big question that people are thinking about right now. Gail is my work BFF. And I'm forever grateful for being able to have her as my work BFF. So Gail signed her one year deal back in the spring. It's going to come up in six months or so. You're going to stick around after that. A part of me thinks that we're going to have to look and see what happens in the fall, once Nora joins, and see the interplay between Gail and Nora, and see if it really clicks. As for tabloid reports of tension between Gail and Nora. Nora, you're like this. I just said, the friction between Nora and Gail is fiction. Oh, that's good. We've never had a crossword. We've never had a crossword. So why in the hell would we start today? This never happens to men. We never write those stories. Yes. The higher you rise as a woman, this is the message. The more of this comes. Another shake up. We've learned there's talk of a new format, which could include more interaction among the anchors and more one-on-one interviews.

3:02Hurricane Dorian is here in Florida. Before leaving to anchor the CBS Eating News, Nora co-hosted the morning show with Gail from 2012 to 2019, part of a team that delivered five straight years of ratings growth. Viewers know her, and so in a situation where you can shake things up but keep a certain level of stability that I think they're hoping might turn things around. Let's move on now to the death of Gloria Steinem. The trailblazing leader of the modern feminist movement has passed away peacefully at her home in New York. She was 92. I'm not going to live forever, but I really haven't reconciled myself to the fact that I'm not immortal yet. Gloria was surrounded by some of the many who loved her. A cause of death was not revealed. We see Gloria Steinem as the face of the women's movement, but just talk about having that tribe of women. Well, it doesn't just fuel me. It's a chosen family. That's what a movement is. Tributes are pouring in from Oprah, Sandra Bullock, and Marish Ghargate, who shared this handwritten note

4:04from the woman she calls, my beloved friend and mentor. She's done so much for women, and it's a lot. Gloria's influence often crossed over into Hollywood. She was Christian Bale's stepmother, and also appeared as herself in the first wives club, the good wife, and most recently, and just like that. Thank you. I have admired you my entire life. Her final suitor was never named, but he's rumored to be Doug Mason, who the ladies couldn't help but compare to her ex Dakota Mortensen. So you had sex in the fantasy sweets? 8:14Yeah, she's like yeah. Okay. Yeah. Oh, no. Sandy talked about the challenges of parenting two teenagers on the not gonna lie podcast. But I just lean into who they are. I'm like, I meet them exactly where they are and I go, I'm getting something amazing even though I'm crying on the inside. I was just blessed with incredible kids and I'm an incredibly honest mom. And they know what's what, but they're also brave and they're safe and they're happy. Sandra says both her kids make cameos and her new movie Practical Magic 2. Another sequel that we're pumped for. This one's for you, eh? We're going for it and I feel like we really got something. On the Pat McAfee show, Tom Cruise gushed about his days of Thunder 2 co-star Ann Hathaway. You know, Annie, enormously talented. She's gonna be owner, you know, engineer. Ever had a baby and then we're gonna make this too. That's good I go. She has comedy chops and dramatic and just real voltage as an artist.
