Eberflus Joins Forty-Niners, Brings Defensive Stability

The San Francisco 49ers just hired Matt Eberfluss as a defensive assistant on Kyle Shanahan staff. The former Chicago Bears head coach will work under new defensive coordinator Rahim Morris. This move fills a spot similar to what Gus Bradley held last season before he left. Eberfluss brings 17 seasons of NFL experience. He spent last year as the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, but got fired after they gave up the most points in team history. Before that, he coached the Bears for over two years, finishing with a 14 win, 32 loss record. The higher points to stability on defense. Eberfluss knows schemes with four man fronts and zone coverage, matching what the 49ers have run for nine years under Shanahan. No big changes seem planned after swapping solid for Morris.
