Welcome back listeners.
1:24
Last time, we stood at the foot of the cross, witnessing the loving sacrifice Jesus gave.
1:33
Today, get ready for something truly extraordinary, the moment that changed everything.
1:46
As we approach this miraculous event, let's set the tone with hope and joy.
1:54
Mr. Sunday isn't just any day.
1:57
It's the day Jesus conquered death, bringing light into the darkest corners of our lives.
2:06
Get ready for an incredible journey into the heart of the resurrection.
2:22
Those is still sniffled, and tears still trickled down the cheeks of those who loved Jesus.
2:32
They were so sad this had happened.
2:38
Others were confused, scratching their beards in deep thought, they tried to make sense
2:50
Wasn't Jesus supposed to be the king, the savior?
2:54
This just didn't make sense to them.
2:58
They continued to mourn for Jesus.
3:04
Later, a man named Joseph of Arimathea went to pilot and asked,
3:11
please, sir, I would like to bury Jesus in a tomb.
3:18
Please let me do this.
3:20
Sying, pilot said, I don't see any harm in that, fine, let's just be done with this.
3:31
And gave his permission, Joseph turned and left pilot.
3:38
He was on his way, when Nicodemus, the man who earlier, had come to Jesus at night,
3:44
he ran over to Joseph.
3:47
Hey, Joseph, I want to help you, please, I love Jesus very much.
3:56
Joseph looked Nicodemus in the eyes, and with a slight smile, nodded yes.
4:07
Joseph and Nicodemus walked up the hill to the cross.
4:13
When they arrived, the two men took Jesus' body and wrapped it with linen cloth.
4:22
In the garden close by stood a new tomb cut into a large, cream-colored rock.
4:30
It was almost like a small cave in the side of a giant rock.
4:36
No one had ever been buried in this tomb.
4:39
Joseph and Nicodemus gently laid Jesus in the tomb.
4:46
Small tears formed in the corners of their eyes.
4:51
All that could be heard were sniffles and the beating of their heavy hearts.
5:03
Oh, they loved him so much.
5:07
Shuffling their feet, slowly, they walked out of the tomb.
5:17
Using all of their might, the men pushed and pushed in the road a heavy, large stone
5:26
to block the entrance of the tomb.
5:31
The women who had come from Galilee with Jesus followed Joseph.
5:37
They saw where Jesus was buried.
5:42
Oh, good, now I know where it is, and I can come back and visit here.
5:49
Then the women left to prepare perfumes and spices.
5:59
The next day, the leading priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate.
6:06
Remember, these people did not like Jesus.
6:11
They did not believe what he said.
6:15
Walking over to Pilate, they said to him,
6:19
Sir, we remember that while that liar was still alive, he said,
6:26
After three days I will rise from death.
6:29
So give the order for the tomb to be guarded closely till that third day.
6:37
As followers, well, they might come and steal the body.
6:41
Then they could tell all the people that he's risen from death.
6:46
And that lie would be worse than the first one.
6:52
Nah, take some soldiers and go guard the tomb the best way you know how.
7:00
So off they all rushed to the tomb and made it safe from thieves.
7:07
They did this by sealing the stone and the entrance, and then putting soldiers there
7:16
No one could go in and no one could go out.
7:26
On the third day, the sun had just begun to fight back the darkness of the night.
7:34
The sky was slowly changing from black to slivers of light.
7:40
Sunrise was on its way.
7:45
Mary Magdalene and another woman named Mary stretched their weary,
7:50
entired bodies, rose from their beds and went to look at the tomb.
8:03
Suddenly, the earth shook beneath their feet,
8:07
trees swayed back and forth.
8:11
There was a strong earthquake.
8:14
An angel of the Lord came down from heaven.
8:19
The angel went to the tomb and rolled the stone away from the entrance.
8:26
Then he sat on the stem.
8:30
He was shining as bright as lightning.
8:33
His clothes were as white as snow.
8:37
The soldiers guarding the tomb trembled.
8:40
Their hearts raced and knees wobbled.
8:44
They were frightened of the angel.
8:50
The angel sat to the women.
8:54
I know that you were looking for Jesus, the one who died on the cross.
8:59
He has risen from death as he said he would.
9:02
Come and see the place where his body was and go quickly and tell his followers,
9:06
say to them, Jesus has risen from death.
9:09
He is going into Galilee.
9:12
He will be there before you.
9:14
You will see him there.
9:17
Then the angel said,
9:19
Now I have told you.
9:23
The women's mouths dropped open in awe.
9:28
They could feel their hearts leap with joy in their chest.
9:36
Jesus, their Savior, was alive.
9:41
Almost tripping over their own feet, they turned and left the tomb quickly.
9:47
They were afraid, but they were also very happy.
9:52
They ran to tell Jesus's followers what had happened.
9:57
Suddenly Jesus met them and said,
10:03
The women, probably still out of breath from running and in shock,
10:11
knelt to the ground.
10:13
Oh, Jesus, it's really you.
10:16
Lord, we missed you.
10:18
We love you so much.
10:20
Everything you said is coming true.
10:24
They took hold of his feet and worshipped him.
10:30
Then Jesus smiled and lovingly said to them,
10:37
Go and tell my brothers to go on to Galilee.
10:41
They will see me there.
10:48
Well, that is it for our story today.
10:51
But before we go, let's think about what we just heard.
10:57
Jesus died on the cross.
11:00
But did he stay that way?
11:07
Everyone hold up three fingers.
11:12
On the third day, you tell me, what happened?
11:18
He rose from the dead.
11:21
Thanks for sharing.
11:22
If you said something like, Jesus rose or the tomb was empty,
11:32
The cross looked like the end,
11:35
but God had a plan all along,
11:38
even when others couldn't see it, or understand it.
11:44
Jesus was victorious.
11:49
And on the third day, he rose.
11:55
Listeners, did everything happen that Jesus said would happen?
12:05
You see, we can trust him and we have hope.
12:10
We don't have hope in how good we are at soccer
12:14
or hope in the new shiny toy.
12:17
No, we have hope in Jesus.
12:22
Jesus who sees you.
12:24
Jesus who died on the cross for you and for me,
12:29
forgiving our sins.
12:33
The Bible reminds us, and first Corinthians, it says this.
12:39
Death is swallowed up in victory.
12:42
Oh, death, where is your victory?
12:46
Oh, death, where is your sting?
12:50
On that third day, Jesus rose.
12:54
That means he beat sin and death.
13:00
Because of him, we are forgiven.
13:05
That's truly the best news ever.
13:08
Not just for Easter, but every single day.
13:14
Listeners, remember, that's your Heavenly Father,
13:18
and He loves you so much.
13:23
Thanks, everyone, for listening.
13:25
