Eagles Strengthen Offense with New Coaches

About this episode

The Philadelphia Eagles are bolstering their offensive coaching staff with Jerrod Johnson and Josh Grizzard, both finalists for the top coordinator spot. Johnson, a young coach with a history with head coach Nick Sirianni, is seen as a promising addition. Welcome to NFL News Today. Two minutes of updates that matter to NFL fans, hit subscribe and stay connected. The Philadelphia Eagles are strengthening their offensive coaching staff with two key hires to support their new 33-year-old offensive. Coordinator Sean Manian. They brought in former Houston Texans quarterbacks coach Jared Johnson for an undefined role in X Tampa Bay passing game coordinator Josh Grizzard. All three were among the seven finalists for the top coordinator spot. Johnson, a 37-year-old Houston native, shares a history with head coach Nick Seriani from their Indianapolis days. He's viewed as a promising young coach after guiding rookie quarterback CJ Stroud to a standout 2023 season. The Eagles parted ways with the Texans before the scouting combined and created a spot for him to keep building his career. Meanwhile, the Eagles have done this before under Seriani. Back in 2021, he hired Jim Bob Cooter, another OC finalist, as a consultant, rebooting

his path to becoming Indianapolis offensive. Coordinator. He also helped Marcus Brady recover from a firing by adding him as an advisor, leading to roles with the chargers and now the Ravens. Reactions in Philly are mixed, with some fans seeing Johnson and Grizzard as back up plans for the less experienced Manian. Both have longer resumes, fueling talk of insurance against early struggles, much like what happened with young defensive coordinator Sean DeSai and veteran Matt Patricia in 2023. On the brighter side, others see it as smart depth building. If Manian excels and lands a head coaching job soon, these hires could step up seamlessly, creating a strong pipeline for the future.
