Durham's New Violence Reduction Plan

That's higher than the same period last year when numbers stood at 103 shootings, 28 injuries, and 5 deaths. Earlier phases of the plan kicked off last December with public talks from national experts. Many workshops followed in February and March, and a multi-day strategy event is set for later this spring. Officials highlight how this approach pulls in local governments, residents, and outside help from places like Johns Hopkins and Baltimore. Local leaders praise the community's strong spirit and willingness to get involved. They point to successes in other cities cutting gun violence through similar teamwork, and they're optimistic the same can happen here.
