Durham's $10M Hayti Revitalization Update

This main corridor runs through the historic African American Haiti community in East Durham. The funding was allocated back in 2024 to tackle long-standing inequities in the area. Haiti has faced heavy disinvestment, especially after the Durham freeway cut through a decade ago. Members aim to restore the neighborhood's past vibrancy with efforts like business incubation and street beautification. The project addresses deep community impacts from past urban development. The first $1,750,000 went toward repairs and services at key properties in Haiti. Other phases focus on supporting local businesses and improving the overall look.
