Le vicende sono ambientate circa 10.000 anni prima dei fatti riguardanti Paul Atreides, poco dopo il Jihad Butleriano, e raccontano i primi anni della sorellanza Bene Gesserit attraverso la storia di Valya Harkonnen e sua sorella Tula.
