Duke Sweeps ACC Awards, Eyes March Madness

0:00On March 9, Duke dominated the Atlantic Coast Conference Awards, sweeping five of the top six honors. Freshman Ford, Cameron Booser, took home both Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year. Senior Ford, Malik Brown, earned defensive player of the year and six man of the year. Head coach, John Shire, was named Coach of the Year after leading the Blue Devils to a 29 and two record, the ACC regular season title, and the number one national ranking. Booser led the conference in scoring at 22.7 points per game and rebounding with 10.2 per game while dishing out four, 0.1 assists. He became just the fifth player ever in ACC history to win both major individual awards in one season. Joining a list of Duke greats, Brown anchored the nation's top defense, topping the league in steel percentage and racking up key deflections. These honors highlight Duke's incredible depth and tradition, with the program now holding conference records in Player of the Year awards, Rookie, selections, and all ACC nods.

1:04Shire squad overcame massive turnover from last year, returning only 20% of last season scoring, yet still won the title outright for. The second straight year embete the most ranked teams ever in a regular season. Other Blue Devils shown too, like sophomore Isaiah Evans on the all ACC third team for his sharp three point and free throw shooting, Patrick Ngba. The second with honorable mention for his breakout year inside, and freshman Dame Sarr, on the all defensive team. As the top seed, number one Duke heads into the ACC tournament quarter finals in Charlotte on Thursday at 7pm, ready to keep the momentum, rolling toward March Madness.
