Duke Stuns UNC in Lacrosse Upset

The boo-devils grabbed control early and never let go, wrapping up ACC play with a solid win while Carolina ends at 11 wins and 3 losses. Overall, two and two in conference. Duke jumped out with four straight goals in the first quarter for a four-nothing lead, then ported on with six unanswered before halftime to hit. 11-3, Carolina chipped away, especially outscoring them four to one in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to catch up. Tarheel standouts, Dominic Pietremala and Gary Merrill, each dropped four points, with Anthony Ryo and another adding two goals and assist the piece. Face-off King Brady Wombach won 18 battles in scoop 13 ground balls, while Goli Josh Marcus stopped 10 shots. Pietremala hit a milestone, passing a school legend to tie for fifth in career goals at 121, just seven shy of the record.
