Duke's Resilience: March Madness Ahead

0:00On March 18, Duke faces Siena in the NCAA tournaments round of 64 on Thursday, but they'll likely be shorthanded at key spots. Sophomore Center, Patrick and Gongba. The second has missed time since early March with ongoing foot soreness, and coaches say he's not ready to return. Just yet, and Gongba put up strong numbers in his first year as a starter, averaging 10.7 points and 6 rebounds per game. His absence means more minutes from Alec Brown, who stepped in smoothly and earned ACC defensive player of the year, honors along with six men of the year. Brown knows Siena's head coach, Jerry McNamara, from their overlapping time around Syracuse Basketball. He's been solid lately, posting 4.8 points, nearly 5 rebounds, and close to two steals per game while anchoring the defense. Duke also won't have senior point guard, Kayla Foster, who's out indefinitely after fracturing his foot in the regular season finale against North Carolina.
