The EPL Index Podcast — Dubious Ref Decisions: Two Footed Extra Time. Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
00This podcast is part of the Sports Social Podcast Network. What's good boys and girls? Two foot of extra today is the second of April. It's Thursday. Hope you're well. Let's get into the news. That champion's sweet women's game is underway between Barcelona and Rail Madrid. And it is tie over. It is tie over Barcelona are four nil up within 35 minutes. Puteles Hansen Paradez and Pajor with the goals tend to an aggregate Barcelona. I just don't see how you stop this team. I really don't. Officials correct not to give a mad penalty. Say the dubious decisions panel are the key match incident panel. I'm sorry I disagree. I disagree so much. A mad was fouled by true fair. And born with the field of the other end of the field and scored. I'm sorry. It's absolutely a penalty. You've got this so so wrong.
05So so wrong. It's you've given a penalty for a lesser foul. The $11,000 World Cup final ticket. $11,000. What a scam. What an absolute scam. This is the category three tickets are going for six that nearly $6,000. Category three. Now. If you got you ticket early, you could have got that same ticket for about $700. Actually, sorry for $600. No, $700, $700 initially. And now every time they come out and say, I know they're just going up and up and up. It's a scandal. And now let's see. Gabrielle Gravina has resigned as head of the Italian FA.
09Good. And so has Gigi Bufon as the delegation head. Yeah, I think that's right. I think everybody should be resigning. Gravina was too old for that role anyway at this point. The remarkable rise of Thomas Tuchel's English assistant. Anthony Barry. Now. Anthony Barry is incredibly highly regarded as a coach. And a lot of people seem to believe he is going to be a future manager. He is a hell of a CV already. He's only 29. He turns 30 in a couple of months. He played for years. He had a decently long career. Playing for African Stan Lee back in 2015. He decided he wanted to start coaching. Since then he's gone on to work for Wigan. Then Chelsea. Then the Republic of Ireland. Then he went to work with Belgium.
11Then he went to work with the Portuguese national team. Then he went to Bayern because he knew Tuchel from Chelsea. And now he's with him with England. He's a hell of a coach by all accounts. And people believe he is going to be a really good manager. I don't know for certain, but we'll see. What is happening with United's teenage striker, Cheeto? This is the kid they nicked from Arsenal. Isn't it the Danish kid? And it's weird that he's just sort of not had any sort of looking. But he's still really young. So we'll see. Sam Kerr's future at Chelsea's apparently opened the air. She could be leaving on a free this summer. Okay. A little bit of controversy last night in the Chelsea, Chelsea Arsenal game.
11Katie McCabe was not sent off for pulling Elisa Thompson's hair. I mean, what is a very, very clear. Red card offense. It was one nil at the time. Thompson was breaking down the wing. And McCabe grabbed her hair and pulled it. She'd already been booked to my knowledge. But that's a clear red card. That is a clear red card. And the fact that she was given nothing is a disgrace. And potentially, you know, there's only probably a minute left. But that could have been the difference really could have been the difference. There's a good piece on the EFL weekend coming up. So give that a read on the BBC website. Australia and Japan equal prize money request ignored. The Asian Cup finalists Australia and Japan say organizes ignored the pre term request to address the inequality in prize money between the men and women's events.
25So the prize fund for the women's Asian Cup is reported to be $1.8 million for the men's it's 14.8 million. Now, look, it can't be equal prize money because for the to be equal prize money that has to be equal revenue. And there isn't the same revenue. I'm sorry. It's just it's just the truth of it. There isn't the same revenue. There isn't the same sponsorship. There isn't the same attendance. The ticket prices aren't even the same. So no, I'm sorry. I can't get on board. I'm all for paying women a lot more than they then they currently earn for playing football. But you can't have equal revenue if you don't have equal you can have equal prize money if you don't have equal revenue. You just can't. Simple as that. Let's just go to breaking come back with the gossip before I wrap up. Right, welcome back. John stones has not expected to be offered a new deal by man city. Everton are among those monitoring his situation. Everton could be good move from.
28Sandra can all these representatives have made contact with rail Madrid as part of a widening search for his next club. I just don't see rail been a club where he could go city. I think him and him and Anderson at city together. I think it'll be really good. Barcelona are leading the race to sign Bernardo Silva. That's been linked for years. Arsenal are monitoring by Leverkusen and Cameroon striker Christian. Leverkusen want 60 million. Now don't get me wrong. He is very, very talented. But he's 19 turns 20 this summer. He's been there one season and it's not like he's blown anybody away. He scored seven goals in nearly four in 39 appearances. So I would be a hard pass on that type of price. Barcelona's option to buy on Marcus Rashford expired in March, meaning the Spanish club was now negotiating a transfer fee. I'm not sure that's true. It's an option to buy.
31They don't they don't. No, they just don't expire in March. I'm sorry. I don't believe that. Manchester City Liverpool and Chelsea are all keeping tabs on Jules Conde. Okay. Denzel Dumfries has been offered to everybody. He's been offered to everybody. Two thirds of the Premier League clubs have had that phone call. Manchester United are interested in Samuel Dahl. He's good. He is good. Seltavigo want Fair Lopez to remain at the club after his loan with Wolves expire. And they're going to get him back for a lot less than they sold him for. So that's good. Deserby wants to sign lock a telly. I doubt it. Although they they were together. It's a swallow. So maybe Manchester United and Liverpool are pursuing. Yandee Monday Liverpool are pursuing away. Don't think United there. Right. That's everything folks. Quick one, but, you know, times, times a short today. See you soon. Bye.
