Demante Ziobright hid Roman and Darcy as they crossed near a junction in Ashlands, then drove off without calling for help. She pulled over close by and phone family members instead of emergency services and never went back to the scene. Prosecutors noted she had swerved to avoid the collision, but still made contact. The victim's mother, Emma, called her children beautiful angels, praising Darcy's creativity and Roman's kind heart. Last February, a memorial bench entry were dedicated to them in a nearby park. Police first arrested Ziobright for causing death by dangerous driving, but dropped that charge in January. An inquest confirmed the siblings died from traumatic head injuries.
