On May 1st, nearly two years after a tragic crash at a school in southwest London, the driver has finally been charged. Claire Fremantle was behind the wheel of a land rover that smashed through the railings of the study prep school in Wimbledon back in 20. 23. It happened on the last day of term while kids and parents celebrated on the lawn. Two eight-year-old girls, Selena Lau and Nurya Sajad, were killed, and several others suffered serious injuries. Others hit Fremantle with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and seven counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. At first, back in June 2024, police cleared her after their initial probe. They said she suffered an undiagnosed epileptic seizure and had no memory of the crash. She apologized deeply, but that didn't sit right with the families. The girls' parents called the first investigation flawed and pushed hard for a second look. They just wanted real answers about why their daughters died. The Metropolitan Police reopened the case later that year, digging into new leads.

Fremantle guy re-arrested in January 2025 on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Now the police watchdog, the independent office for police conduct, is probing 11 met officers over how they handled the original inquiry. Four current cops and one ex-detective face possible gross misconduct charges. Nearly three years on, the parents say they're one step closer to the truth though get to the face or in court soon.
