It's April 16th. This is California News Today, powered by AI. I'm Corey with the story. A 30-year-old driver in San Francisco faces murder charges after allegedly striking and killing a 74-year-old pedestrian in a rest day. Hit and run sparked by a sidewalk dispute. It all went down Monday afternoon on Mission Street near South Bannes Avenue, right by a Chevron gas station. The driver had just filled up his tank and was pulling out blocking part of the sidewalk. The victim walked up, the exchanged words, and things escalated when the man spilled some liquid from a bottle onto the car. Video and witnesses showed the driver then accelerating into the victim, sending him onto the hood before slowing and letting him slide off. I witnesses say the car ran him over, dragging him a short distance before speeding away. Medics pronounced the victim dead right there less than 10 minutes later. Cops nab the suspect soon after at another spot, but let the other passengers go, including a baby in the car.

Prosecutors dropped new details Thursday and won him held without bail over public safety risks. The case is still active, so if you got info, call the SFPD tip line at 415-575-44444. Keep your eyes open out there.
