Oh, that's right. It's a Drive Time Frazel Verbe. The Frazel Verbe today is to take up

to take up which actually has two meanings. We have to take up in the sense of

empezara hacer algo nuevo, right, to take up. I think I may take up the guitar, right, to take up

like typically with a hobby, un hobby. I feel like playing the guitar. I think I'm going to take up

the guitar to take up to start a hobby or a new activity.

It is time for today in history.

And as we look at this day, the 10th of April,

we have Hank Aaron setting a new home run record.

Now, he was a baseball player from the Atlanta Braves.

He hit a 715th career home run,

breaking Babe Ruth's record of 714 home runs.

And there was a huge crowd of over 53,000 people

in the Atlanta Fulton County Stadium.

Now, that is an incredible crowd for baseball,

even by today's standards.

In fact, that would be a huge attendance.

Now, baseball crowds are smaller than that.

But baseball, they play almost every day

during the regular season.

They play about usually six nights a week.

So yes.

But yes, we're talking about America's pastime,

America's passion, the game of baseball,

and Hank Aaron became the home run king.

And he was, of course, an African American

who had received death threats and racist hate mail

during his pursuit of one of baseball's most distinguished records.

So the achievement was kind of bittersweet, as they say.

He was, of course, proud of it.

But he had to overcome a lot.

And it's kind of unfortunate, the amount of racism

that he endured.

But his name was, he was born with the name Henry Lewis Aaron,

Jr. Born in Mobile, Alabama in February of 1932,

and joined the Milwaukee Braves in 1954.

So he was 20.

Just eight years after Jackie Robinson broke baseball's color,

sorry, his, yeah, the color barrier,

becoming the first African American to play Major League Baseball.

Hank Aaron was known as very hardworking and quiet

and was also the last Negro League player

to also complete, to compete, rather, in the major leagues.

So in the 1930s and 40s and 50s,

they had what was called the Negro League.

And black players had to play there,

and white players played in the major leagues.

In 1957, Hank Aaron, who usually played right

field, we was named the National League's most valuable player

as the Milwaukee Braves won their division.

They won the pennant for winning their division,

best team in the division.

Few weeks later, three home runs in the World Series

help his team win over the New York Yankees,

the great New York Yankees who are kind of like the Real Madrid

of baseball, you could say.

And they called him Hammer and Hank.

And he specialized in home runs, but was also a very,

just a very dependable batter with a lot of hits,

not just home runs, but also ended up with a record

and runs that it is.

That's when you hit the ball and you drive one of your,

you lead one of your teammates to score.

His playing career spanned three teams over 23 years.

He played with the Milwaukee Braves from 1954 to 65.

The Atlanta Braves from 66 to 74 in the Milwaukee Brewers

from 1975 to 1976 just at the end of his career.

So he retired in 1976 with 755 home runs

and went on to become one of baseball's first African-American

executives with the Atlanta Braves.

He became an executive for the club

and a spokesman for hiring minority players.

He was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 1982.

So there you go, a little bit about Hammer and Hank,

Hank Aaron, one of the greats, one of the all-time greats of baseball.
